I use to take stumps out also. I would give them a price per stump per size. After an agreed price. I would tell them to tie ribbons or spray paint what they wanted removed prior to me arriving. That way there is no mistake. It wasn't your fault you didn't know there where two light poles.

Having the customer (or a rep) to either be there or blatantly mark the work to be done is the way to go. Apparently I'm not as telepathic as most other contractors out there.

Communication is so important when doing a job. I’ve had my own business for 50+ years and sometimes we assume and there it begins. You did the right thing Hank. I know you feel bad but I’ve been always told that that’s why god put erasers on pencils. You’re a good man. Keep up the good work.🙏🙏

😂 I had a lady say weedead around that tree so I did and then she comes outside and says that's the wrong tree. This lady has 15 acres and I'm seeing 80 trees but it is what it is.😅 your buddy didn't know either cause he was standing there watching you.

That's what happens Every time I do a favor for someone. It always comes back and bites you I had one lady accuse me of stealing her electrical cords. I told her you should ask those ladies, that came and picked up the computers today. Oh ya.

No hell no, that friend/neighbor was a dick for even telling you that, it's their fault you cut the wrong bush not yours, They lack the communication and failed to mark the bushes to cut. They made you feel bad for no reason and you should not be responsible for replacing it.

I know the feeling..I said in front of several ladies at church I was going to cit down an old apple tree that no one was taking care of and all it had was really small wormie apples on it and I lady in the group got a bit testy after I cut it down. It took six weeks for her to say any more to be,but she finally said as bad a shape as the tree was I that what I did was for the best.

Don't feel bad. When I inherited my family's property, I cut down most of the bushes, so I could cut grass faster. Plus hedges grow back.

As Forrest Gump once said... "it happens". Honestly, I would have taken that down myself if it was my place. I could maybe understand if it was like an Azalea or perhaps a Crape Myrtle. That to me looked like a bunch of scrub Oak saplings. Kudos to you for trying to make his wife happy. The bottom line is was that it was a mistake. It's not the end of the world.
