HomePod Mini Review: Big Sound, Tiny Box!

I mainly use mine as an alarm clock. It's just cool to go to bed and set an alarm by talking to a device. I live alone, so it is also just nice to say, "Hey Siri, goodnight," and get a response. Okay, I know that is a bit sad... I also keep up with news from home every morning when I wake up by saying "Hey Siri, please play ABC news." Also - I like how you can ask it to play ambient noise, like rain on a roof... These are probably not the intended main features, but somehow, it has become an important part of my life within such a short time.

When I ask Siri for a joke, it’s always puns like : “Tell a joke about sodium?” *”Na”*

just added two mini's with the mission battery base. I use them as a stereo pair for my desktop Mac mini and Apple TV home theater and move them around wirelessly as needed. They've proven to be really great so far. The integrations into my set up is very minimal and portable now.they are great!

For me the biggest factor in buying a device like this is privacy, so it’s a shame to see that this wasn’t mentioned here. Google and Amazon have awful track records when it comes to privacy, whereas Apple (whilst not perfect) has proved time and time again that they not only take privacy seriously - but go out of their way to include privacy preserving features in their products.

When Siri told the second joke I could swear Marques would say "So don't buy the Home Pod Mini. Thanks for watching"

My Siri's response when asked for a good joke: "To the person who stole my glasses: I will find you. I have contacts."

I appreciate the objectivity in this review. I have the OG HomePod and agree with everything you said 100%. Not sure if I’ll go with the Mini for a second speaker but interested in going the Amazon route to go deeper into the smart home automation eco system

I’m the third option at the end. I’m using my Apple TV a lot now, can’t afford a sound bar and thought a stereo pair would work well. Plus that compatibility all working in the Apple eco system is ideal. Thanks for another awesome review. Love your content

I use this for my room and when I play music the entire apartment listens to the song XD and the audio quality is absolutely top notch, Siri is good enough for the tasks I need a smart speaker to do.

I would've been interested to hear how audio compares to the new Nest Audio, because even though Google's product is full sized and they have a small sized offering that you talked about, the $99 Nest Audio price is the same as the Homepod Mini so more of a direct competitor in that sense.

I watched this on my iPad. Every time he said “hey Siri,” my iPad responded. When he said, “hey Siri, tell me a joke,” my iPad paused this video and told me a stupid joke.

I just got one of these for Christmas and I love it! Took a bit of work to get it set up properly in my Home (since I’m a kid everything defaults to my dad), but everything is good now and the HomePod is excellent

I listened to your video via my new HomePod Mini. It was shockingly great sound quality.

I picked one up last week to play with while I’m saving up for two of the big HomePods for my home theater setup. Once I do I’ll put the mini in the bedroom.

It’s amazing how he makes better intros every video. It’s just proves how his creativity is not limited and he is still progressing every day. Love it!

I'd love a comparison video on the sound quality across the different smart speaker line ups. Like rank them all out by sounds then extrapolate price, features and stuff from there.
