The fact they try and shame the performer for not taking breaks every 30 minutes and drinking water, this is why Disney and many other parks have "handlers" with their costumed mascots, because how is someone in a suit supposed to keep track of time? No need for sarcasm. Just because you watched scenes from one episode that is somewhat tongue-in-cheek doesn’t disprove that the show as a whole is a drama. Even in this oddball guest appearance, Dan Castellaneta takes being Homer Simpson very seriously. Context matters. Besides, there’s room for humor in any story, regardless of genre.

I knew it had to have been Dan doing the Homer voice, it sounded pitch perfect to be just an impersonator. But when HE walked out of the bathroom stall with the outfit in his hands, and then remarking with “It’s the greatest feeling in the world”, it shot this feeling of awe through me. I kept replaying the part because it didn’t just sound like a line from his character, (Mr. Champion) but rather something genuinely from him. Homer is one of the last characters I would expect to be shown love from people alike, but the appreciation for character actors’ roles (Dan Castelanetta as Homer, Charles Martinet as Super Mario, Tom Kenny as SpongeBob, etc.) really shows why a lot of these character actors seem as if they will never retire from the roles of these beloved characters. Because the love and appreciation they are shown, for characters they’ve created and loved to play as for years, decades even, really has to be “the greatest feeling in the world”.

I actually remember watching LA Law when it was fresh. The trunk closing intro was so iconic in my mind. It's wild that this episode didn't just have a Dan Castelanetta cameo playing Homer, but is also paralleled with the LA Riots. Peak 1992.

There's plenty of cases like this for Disneyland which is why they have a similar code of conduct to try and absolve the park of responsibility and put all responsibility on the person in costume. It's pretty extreme, even if a costumed character is being assaulted by some guests and tries to defend themselves they can get into trouble by Disneyland for "breaking character" and potentially get fired

I have been putting on a Spider-man suit and done festival apperances, movie premiers, now very small ones don´t think like NY city or something. I got like a dozen kids who walks up to me giving me a hug and saying nice things like during Christmast for Spider-man No Way Home they said Merry Christmast. That feeling is really the best in the world. Sure you are just potraying a fictional character but in that moment you take on the role, the responsibillity to be that character and make the kids and families happy and when you do it well they get so happy it hits you too.

This is so cool! I didn't know this existed! I noticed that Dan never spoke in Homer's voice when he could be seen. Julie Kavner, the voice of Marge does the same thing and explained on Letterman it's so they don't break the illusion and these voices are associated only with the characters
