I like how Homer's only response is being confused at Ned's left-handedness, not the fact that he got punched at all. It feels like he understands to some extent how he upset Ned and doesn't mind him being expressing his anger.
we dont believe in rules man, like; we gave all that up when we decided to live like FREAKY beatniks! yeah doc, you gotta help us! we tried nothing, and we're all out of ideas!
Homer and Marge graduated high school in 1974. If they were 18 at the time, that would make them 64-65 today. Bart was born in 1980, making him 40-41 today. Nothing about the ages and timelines of the Simpsons makes any damn sense.
That Vegas episode wasn't canon imo. Ned is like early 40s probably, his parents probably 65-70. Obviously their birth years change with the show so that's not canon either
Laberge in the episode that intro to his parents it showed that when pushed to the breaking point he will resort to violence. And the only people he will ever admit to hating are his parents damn beatniks. lol
Laberge remember in the older episodes ned used to be bad like Bart and his parents were hippies and wanted him to be good but not actually help him be good he went to school were he was spanked for months which worked and turned him good but he was too good he never got mad expect for when his house got destroyed and now they've brought it up again in this new episode homer is probably the only thing besides his parents that can make him get mad
Keep in mind we've seen Ned without a shirt multiple times and the dude is shredded, also he's fueled by years of pent up rage from casual thoughtlessness from his "neighborino" so there's a lot of factors here fueling the moment even accounting for Homer Simpson Syndrome as Dr. Hibbert diagnosed.
Wouldn't his parents be like 75-80, considering that they were hippies, i would assume that they had him when they were 15-20, because at an earlier episode when homer is getting his car washed and finds ned using a senior citizens discount, later at church new reveals he is 60.
Also his parents aren't hippies, they're beatniks like The Beatles. Beatniks are largely from the 50's and focus on literature and poetry, hippies are largely from the 60's and focus on drugs and rock & roll. Hippies grew out of the beatniks, and The Beatles who were late to the beatnik scene (formed in 1960) ended up being about as close to a hippie a beatnik can go. Make no mistake though, The Beatles, like Ned's parents, were involved with a kind of proto-hippie culture, rather than actual hippies.
Ned: "Homer, I can't believe you are partaking with my parents!" Homer: "It's medicinal, you're a pain in our neck. " Homer and the "lousy beatniks" laugh in unison.
