Obviously never did Canada, either. To be fair it's a very rare thing to get slammed by such a weather event that far north. Usually, they veer eastward and back over the Atlantic well before that latitude. I guess you could say they took a Mother Nature sucker-punch. One straight to the face, too. POW!
At most coastlines do not have historic hurricane activity. Europe, Africa, Australia, US West Coast and extreme north or south latitudes usually don’t experience them. If climate change wasn’t a factor this might be a once in a hundred year event or lower.
I’m so use to the Gulfport,Caribbean,Florida,East Coast but more south. I looked at some previous news they believed that Halifax was going to get hit worse and they were more prepared and it messed up more north.
We frequently get the tail end of hurricanes, the most I've ever seen was cat 1 but Fiona was like something out of the movies. I'm in Port aux Basques.
In response to others ridiculing "know your home, know your zone": Do you know where your elec. breaker box and gas shut offs are? Do you know where the safest part of the house is? (+Water food,gear,candles,radio there) Do you know where high ground is close? Do you know what roads flood over in your area? Do you know where the closest emergency shelter is? Do you know how to navigate/evacuate if main roads are blocked, interstate jammed? I've seen subdivisions that are waaay too big for the number of exits they have. They're not getting out fast! Do you have the right vehicle fueled up, checked, supplied and cash on hand? (Never buy fuel after torrential rain or flooding BTW. And cell towers go down in big wind, land lines get jammed-no card use.) Got dry clothes, boots and blankets? (Do not wade into flooded areas barefoot!) Does everybody know the plan(s)? Rallying points?
This is just super sad. Hopefully everyone turns out okay. Natural disasters is just too much for us anymore, we could use divine intervention. Godspeed to those affected. Poor Caribbean. Such beautiful islands and they’re always hit. Figures someone would comment in response to religious beliefs. Good grief, go be annoying someplace else

We were without power for 2 weeks in 2020 as a hurricane hit us in Alabama. The weather controllers are having a field day, sending the love to the north.
Me too, I love Canada and am Canadian- but this didn’t just happen it’s weather modification.. they could of mitigated the hurricane before PR. And they can steer them as well.
Soon people, nobody will be able to live on the coast of any ocean. Weather is becoming to volital.all has happened before and will again,it's not from carbon emissions either!
Please explain how this 1 hurricane is a climate crisis? This is pretty normal considering this isn't the only time Canada/ New England area had been hit by powerful Cat 1 Hurricanes.

It was 1938. A little before my time although my grandparents told me about the devastation and flooding. But as for Fiona, I feel bad for the people in Canada, especially for those in Port aux Basques who lost their houses. 😟
