We are on day 4 of Campfire Curriculum and so far have done a craft, baking, and the Christmas read along. The noel bars really reminded us of my grandma. I feel like we are getting so much out of it already, all the Christmas games, Jesus, and time in the kitchen and family without the stress or being overwhelmed or it taking all day.

That's good to know. I'm trying to plan the coming year and didnt know which way to go this coming Christmas. Every Thanksgiving I feel we get derailed until the new year. I would love to not carry the guilt of not doing "real school" for so long. Lol

i can't find this curriculum on gather round website anymore. Do you know if it's been renamed "the first christmas"? or is that a separate study?

I like the gather round unit but currently it’s a bit pricey. Since I’m already extremely crafty and I’ve signed my kids and myself up for holiday crafts within social groups ( gingerbread house contest, card giving drive) I decided to do all of the crafts and read a Christmas Carol together. It’s true we are not as focused on the story of Jesus this year but my kids are young enough that we can dive into that another year.

Aw that’s great! Good for you! I’m definitely in more of an open & go season of life 😆 so these unit studies really help give me a guide.

I ordered the Campfire Christmas one yesterday. Need to print it out now. But we will start it once we have finished our GR Christmas unit. My daughter has been loving Christmas school. 🎄

I am considering these for this coming Christmas. I’m considering starting immediately after Thanksgiving and doing both, possibly Gather Round first and campfire as we get close to Christmas

Doing both was A LOT but definitely doable.

Thank you for this! I was really struggling to choose which one of these to choose and the straight compare and contrast helped me make a final decision.

Great video, so helpful! I am using the Gather Round Christmas unit this year, but it’s so good to see what the Campfire Curriculum is like. I may definitely add it one day!

Me too...a little of both. The kiddo I am doing this with is a pre reader.. Camp Fire I felt was a little easier for a pre reader! Love your ideas!

Very helpful information! Thanks for the great review. Planning on downloading a Christmas unit, today, as we are taking the next 2 weeks off of traditional homeschool. 🙂

Thanks for the info on Campfire Christmas! I had not seen that one yet. It does look like it very low-key, which I really like. We did GR Christmas last year & enjoyed it. I hope you have a very special Christmas season with your family!

Thank you for this amazing comparison! I am seriously considering Campfire Curriculum's Christmas unit. But I also found "A Connected Christmas" by Treehouse Schoolhouse curriculum. Have you seen that one and tried it? I found them when I was looking for planners and I really like their morning time bundle but I haven't bought it yet.

I loved your video on campfire curriculum. I thought wow it's similar but fills a gap. Yesterday GR announced year 3...and it covers camping and jobs.... 😐. But I like the idea of lighter units from campfire that fill in like an elective. I've struggled in the past with GR authors handling of a certain situation and resisted GR. But making life easier is tempting so I have Easter and North America. But I feel as I look at it I need to add in LA at least for the writing aspect. Why do I tell you this? Honestly, I kinda need a place to voice a few of my skeptical thoughts about GR and people are either all in or all out. Lol I'd love to chat from the middle of the road of pros and cons with out it turning into "well you dont have to use it" or "ita garbage dont waste your money". Lol any thoughts?

Depends on how much time you want to spend on it everyday. CC takes 20ish minutes. GR takes around 2 hours if you do all the activities and extras.
