I want to thank you for pointing me toward this company. Right after I watched your first video of this curriculum, I immediately bought the first grade history, The Story of Jesus' People, and the reading /Bible curriculum, God's Big Story 1. I couldn't be happier. When you announced their 50% off sale, I bought the 2nd grade set as well. The books are BEAUTIFUL and very high quality. My daughter is learning so much, and she is enjoying the coordinating workbooks. I really had a hard time keeping myself from buying all the elementary levels. The next sale, I would like to pick up some books for myself.
I love Generations 🥰 I just wish I found it earlier for the 2 I graduated. My daughter that graduated last year is reading all the high school books that my others are doing. I ordered all the science and history through Generations and the next sale I'll be getting more 😁 We will be using this for many years. 11 kiddoss I still have to homeschool, youngest is 18 months and oldest is 17. I wish they had a math but for now we're using Khan Academy cuz they're free. We used TGATB but it was just too fluffy for my kids and I wanted something more solid in biblical doctrine. I sold all the history and science from the TGATB and then Generations had the 50% sale. I took that as a sign from God 😊
Masterbooks has a good math program with Biblical/story lessons. My kids have enjoyed them. We have enjoyed them because: 1. My one kids likes to sit down and have storytime with me ( he is six) 2. The worksheets are not crowded with a ton of problems 3. It is not overwhelming (due to the above) 4. The solid Bible/moral focus I have heard critics say they are a grade level behind, etc. in their math. I have not found this to be the case. But, I am also an advocate of starting later not earlier so 🤷
Hoping Generations continues to complete their curriculum asap because we love it! Currently using their 1st grade with my K and just practicing addition/subtraction in a loosely Robinson curriculum fashion for math.
FYI as of today (2/22/23) generations is again having a sale! So glad I found them and am so excited to start this curriculum next year! Bought a core set for 6th and now 8th. These books are BEAUTIFUL!
I just discovered Generations, I signed up for their homeschool workshop without knowing they offered curriculum. I am so excited to use this curriculum next school year!
Thank you so much for making these videos! Are you still using it? Also have you ever used mystery of history? If so, could you share How would you compare to generations history?
What Grade is your child in? I bought this for next year for my 4th grader during the Dec Sale. We are using MFW right now (adventures in US history). Ive flipped thru it and Im a little nervous the amount of reading/workbook style will be cumbersome . Im considering ordering MFW for just the history/world studies. But doing Generations bible and science.
I got all of the "taking countries for the Jesus" books during their last big sale. For far we are enjoying them! They truly are so beautiful. I will definitely be checking out some of their other subjects
How does their history works? Like is it all world/ancient history to early and American history? I’m confused at how they had set it up. Next question! Science, do the lessons include experiments or hands on activities? I was settling on apologia because you can purchased the corresponding kits. I know for fact that without a kit experiments aren’t happening with me😕 What did you thought about the reading comprehension exercises? Even if I don’t do a complete package I’ll be interested in the reading set and read aloud for 4th grade. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your reviews! We are using Taking Asia for Jesus this year and we all love it. Looking for literature for my daughter in the next year or two as she gets into middle school - do you use Teaching the Classics as well as Generations Literature? Will you be doing a more in depth explanation / flip through of how the Generations Literature works? I’m very interested in it. Thank you so much 💛
Did your children get overwhelmed at all by the amount of reading for each subject. Id love to hear their ages and how you are doing each subject. Does your child read out loud. Do you read most to them? Also, how did you choose the order of literature reading. Im not seeing a guide for that. I Bought this to start 4th grade the upcoming fall.
@@jenniferdecker4288 my kids are 10, 5, 3, and 1 ... we are only using History from Generations this year. I went with the grade 4 to start because we are also learning about missionaries this year (reading YWAM books) and a lot of them went to Asia. I read the lessons out loud during our Table Time (like morning basket) while my kids play with Playdoh or color. I try to take the Charlotte Mason approach to short, sweet lessons and not try to drag it out too long. We can get through about half a chapter of history each time amongst the other subjects we do together. The history really holds my kids interest. It’s written in a very engaging way. And they love the beautiful pictures! I don’t know about the literature course since we haven’t done that yet, though I do really want to incorporate that next year. Unfortunately not many people have reviews of Generations on RU-vid so it’s hard to know how others use that course.
You can read their statement of faith on their website, that would be more helpful. Everything is hardline Biblical, straight from scripture. Statement of faith: www.generations.org/about/statement-of-faith#:~:text=Welcome%20To%20Generations&text=Jesus%20Christ%20was%20God%20come,His%20wrath%20and%20just%20condemnation.
You do midterms??? lol We don't test. I have my masters in Ece, taught forever, and I just cannot test but a project sounds reasonable. Have you seen a comparative worldview by foundation worldview?
Yup, we do midterms. I’m a former teacher, too. My kids like testing, which is hilarious to me. I use a cover school for grades and records, so it’s easier to have some kinds of test for them to fill the records and transcripts out. To each their own 🤷🏼♀️
Did you see that history's heros is no longer sold as part of the 7/8th grade history. They've added a new course! I'm kinda bummed because it looks good but we ordered history heros for next year. What's your thoughts???
I did see that! I pre-ordered the new How Jesus Built the Church set. It looks really good, and I couldn't resist 😂 It's set to be shipped in June, but some people are saying they already got theirs. I'm hoping mine comes in soon, too! I'll put up a review when it comes in. The one being sold now with the set it here (Aff): bymandymaltz.com/howjesusbuiltthechurch
@The Handmade Homeschooler - Mandy Maltz thank you. I've been wondering if I should just get it, too. It looks really good. Will you have your kiddo do both courses next year for history?
Thank you for this information! I'm new to homeschooling. Just curious on what parents do after high school...do they take the GED test or make your own transcripts/diploma?
My daughter did Notgrass World Geography this year in 9th grade. I'm really wanting to check out Creations for American History, but like you, I think 2 years on this subject is most reasonable. However, I don't know how she could work in World History before graduation. I just don't see how we can get it all in.
Hi! We are non denominational so I’m curious how much of the the Christian Reform views are presented? My daughter who I’m thinking of ordering for is in the 4th grade! But not sure if it’s a good fit because of the Christian Reform views? Is it pushed at all?
We’re doing the full first grade set this year and me & my child have both been loving it! The only thing we don’t have is their math because we ordered after they stopped printing the first edition. I have zero complaints so far which is saying a lot for me!
First grade looks like it has all core subjects but the other grades where is the language arts and math ? Also how many workbook pages each day per subject ? I wanted to start this this year but backed off when I didn't see language arts and math for the other grades.....
I discovered Generations last May through the Homeschool Summits webinar. I ended up using Abeka for our 5th year in a row, but I have been regretting it all year. Like you talked about, we have spent too much money to stop Abeka now. However, I will be using Generations next school year. I will have a 9th and 5th grader. Because you are affiliated with them do you have a code to enter when we purchase in order for you to get credit?
I don't have a code for them at the moment, but they have sales going on all the time. If you follow me on social media or are on my email list, I send out reminders for their sales.
