We haven't read their Little Pilgrim's Journey. We read the one with bunnies from another author and loved it. We just got Lithos new Pilgrims Progress yesterday!

We read some of the same picture books when we were studying Africa last fall! There are definitely some good ones! I haven't heard of The Other Kitten, but have vivid memories of listening to Treasures in the Snow read aloud when I was growing up!

We are doing Taking the Middle East for Jesus as a read aloud this year, it’s fantastic! Darn, now that you told us about Sunshine Country, I need to grab it. Thank you!

I bought When Stars are Scattered a few years ago but we haven't read it yet. I will have to pull it out and add it to our "to read" basket.

Do you feel like this book has an agenda...? I'm really hesitant on this one but honestly don't know much about it
@FamilyStyleLearning
@FamilyStyleLearning 5 месяцев назад
@@juliequates9529 I understand your hesitation. I typically read things like this very on guard as well. I did not feel like it was pushing an agenda, it was more about raising awareness of how many people live. I think it's open to the conversations you want to have. Best read as a read aloud!

ooh, my book club read When Stars Are Scattered last year. So moving. I don't usually read graphic novels myself (they confuse my brain), but this one was amazing.

Im a little torn between Generations and Sonlight. Is Generations rich in literature and reading? I love all the books that come with Sonlight. But I from what Ive read about Generations it seems to be packed with scripture. How are the read alouds scheduled throughout the year? What does a day look like with Generations?
@FamilyStyleLearning

Generations is a great curriculum for an eclectic homeschooler. It won't cover all your subjects. I don't follow a schedule with it. I think you would probably want probably a mix between the two. I have other videos about Generations. Check those out and let me know if you have more questions.

My daughter read Homer Price and Treasures in the Snow by Patricia st.john. We loved Giant Killer and princess and the Goblin and Paddle to the Sea this year. I've been on the fence about Sunshine Country but I'm glad to hear it was so good, we've befriended a Czech family and have had several Czech dinners now, so that would be fun to read. How do you do read alouds? Is that part of bedtime or lunch or do you do a separate read aloud time from bedtime? Do you separate levels? I have a variety of ages and abilities to pay attention so I'm trying to figure that out as my twins (my middle kids)are wanting to participate more and more but are still little.

I want to do Giant Killer soon! I like doing read alouds or audios during lunch. Sometimes it's just, when we're at a good spot in our day. Depending on what we're reading sometimes I let the youngest go do something else or take a bath, but usually he stays with us. Their dad reads to them at bedtime and he's done some great books with them too.

What Generations book would you recommend to start with? As a readaloud?
@FamilyStyleLearning
@FamilyStyleLearning 5 месяцев назад
If you were only getting thing from Generations I would want you to get Taking the Middle East for Jesus. It's the text we did as a read aloud. Otherwise, if you want a classic book, start with Sunshine Country! Let me know what you think!

When during the day do you recommend read alouds to very small children? I have a 5 year old, 4 year old and 1 year old. I also do five In a row and they sit and listen fine but they are picture books so I feel like that is different
@FamilyStyleLearning
@FamilyStyleLearning 5 месяцев назад
Sometimes I read during lunch. If you have a quiet time after lunch that might be good. We have listed to audios while doing diamond dots in the late afternoon. I love listening while driving to and from the store, we have a half hour drive both ways. Also they seem to be eager to listen if it means not going to sleep at bedtime, so that may be a good time. It just depends on your stage. You have to find what works best in that season. Hopefully those ideas help. 5 in a row and picture books will help train them to sit and read in the future.
