Just stumbled across you today, and I have to say: You had me at "I'm a minimalist in the rest of my house, but not in my schoolroom!" Then, you sealed the deal with "Most of the stuff I got second hand." (A woman after my own heart!) For the past 21 years, I homeschooled with a dedicated room in our house. Last month we moved, and since I've graduated three of my four kiddos, I decided to only have a "school closet." It's working fine (We always used our school room more for storing our resources, and usually did our schoolwork on the couch, at the table, or outside), but I do miss getting to decorate a schoolroom and keeping all those maps on the wall. Keep encouraging other homeschoolers! Your bubbly personality is so fun to watch. Makes me wish we could hang out! ;)
While I don't think I will ever homeschool my kids I love the wonderful comfortable environment you've created. I am a former teacher and creating a comforting but functional environment for kids to feel safe and comfortable fosters learning in such a big way. I do want to have a room like this in the house for homework, reading, relaxing, and playing as all of those are helpful for learning.
Love your classroom.. Love following you and watching your videos.. Im a retired kinder/preschool teacher that realky never retired..because my friends and grandkids parents asked me too teach and homeschool their children, due too the pandemic.. Now they love it so much so we also will continue homeschool.. Im loving all your videos!!
This may be one of my favorite homeschool rooms so far. It's so happy, bright, and cozy at the same time. I'm definitely going to shoot for a similar vibe in our school room. Thanks for sharing!
I love how perfectly imperfect your room is ! Seems way more "real life" than many homeschool spaces we see on RU-vid 🤍 Thank you for sharing the beautiful free prints too
Just came across your channel. You are so gorgeous and sweet😭This is a BEAUTIFUL homeschool room! I am in search of ideas and the best setup possible for our second dining room conversion into our homeschool room! I plan to homeschool and I am beyond excited! I am a mom of two boys 3yrs old and a 1yr old, so please please post as many videos as possible of anything and everything! Tips & Tricks! THANK YOU! You will see me here in the comments ALWAYS lol. Greetings from Washington State 🌲 🏔 ❄️
Your space is gorgeous! Our home is small and we homeschool at our kitchen table but I recently hung a bulletin board up and think I may do a map or something over the piano in there. I hope one day we have a whole room we can use 😍
Thank you, Erin!! I know we both have such an appreciation for thrifting and shopping secondhand! I can’t see a beautiful vintage floral without thinking of you. 😘
Love this sweet school room! We've had school rooms on and off through our homeschool career and have loved them during the seasons we've had them. We currently live in a fun, albeit small container home. A homemade shed (that I would love to convert to a school house) stores our extra resources, books to rotate for our in home library, and any other fun messy/large items we need to enrich our learning environment. Trying to be a minimalist and have the resources to help my out of the box learners has been a balancing act, but I love that we choose to make room for lovely books!
That sounds so neat!! I’ve just accepted that I’m not a minimalist when it ones to homeschooling. 😂 I am so thankful for our library though so I don’t go even more nuts on books!
It’s fun to see homeschool setups. We do most of our learning in the living room. I am working on converting our dining room into an activity and reading room, which could also be used for homeschool if I could find comfy chairs. lol In a way it makes no sense because we have an unused bonus room, but I prefer being downstairs. We have about the same amount of wall space in our dining room that you have. I have the same Kallax shelf (love it!) and I want to get a Billy shelf & bigger/ taller Kallax. Your room is bigger. We’ll have to use a card table for puzzles and other activities.
I've just found such a great community of homeschool families. Didn't know all these resources were here. Thank you for sharing. I've been on my own 3 yrs. This is so awesome!!!
Love your set up!!! I want a separate school room just for the simple fact it keeps things condensed to one space when not in use. We don’t have a room so I have stuff in three different rooms and it can be overwhelming at times. I love how many things you got just from printables. That’s awesome.
Thank you! It is nice being able to shut the door and have everything in one place. It won't be too long before I'll need more bookshelf space, so I will have to get creative with that at some point and maybe have a secondary bookshelf elsewhere. And I love free printables! There are so many great options out there.
Beautiful, you did a great job! I would love a video on the different games, teaching implements you have. When you opened your closet doors it looked like you had a lot of great ones! My youngest is a preschooler going into Kindergarten and I love to get new ideas.
Hi Jess! Omg I just LOVE your videos. I love your personality and the joy that you pour out. My name is Amalia and I am not a homeschool mom YET, but I am in the works of getting there. Hope to be one with in this next month coming. I will be taking my 5th grade daughter out of public school and also start pre k with my middle child. Thank you for the content that you are making, it has been so so helpful! Can’t wait to learn more from you!
Love your cozy homeschooling space! I inherited my Grandpa's clock also. Those clocks are persnickety...if it's not completely level it won't work. You may try putting a piece of plywood under it. I, too, said I would never homeschool, but here I am and my 3rd grader (granddaughter) says she is learning alot more at home and doesn't want to go back to public. Thanks for sharing!!
This was so interesting, thank you! I would really enjoy seeing your morning basket for the upcoming school year. I always enjoy seeing what other families choose!
Hi, I'm new! I want to turn a spare bedroom at the front of our house off the entrance into a class room, and this is my vision for it 💗 I love that it's cozy and not huge not other classrooms haha I am excited because one wall has a big window to let plenty of daylight in and I think it would be so great for a classroom 😄
I’m binge watching your videos! Love your channel and that you are a new homeschooler like me 🙂 We homeschool at the dining table. I never wanted a room for homeschool, reminds me too much of public school 😂
Thank you so much!! 🥰 We have an open concept living/kitchen/dining area, and you can see the tv from our dining table, so being in a separate room has helped eliminate that distraction. I get what you’re saying though and definitely didn’t want our school room to feel like a traditional classroom!
What a fun and bright school room! :) We're a homeschool family as well! We have a 7 year old, a 5 year old and baby on the way. We actually started homeschooling in the Fall of 2019. So we had a bit of jump start before the pandemic hit. I come to RU-vid for curriculum reviews and homeschool ideas and I'm glad a stumbled on your channel. Are you planning to stick with the regular school schedule or are you mixing it up? We're moving into year long schooling with more frequent breaks. I think this will be great for our family, especially with a baby on the way. Blessings as you continue to love and teach your kiddos! :)
Thank you so much! We will definitely deviate from the school schedule moving forward. We did it a bit this year but will be taking even more liberties this upcoming school year. I plan to make a video about it! 😄
Love this! I'm new to your channel. I love the idea of using CC memory work. Joining a group is not an option for us. Do you know if the app has the memory work included?
I never used the app, honestly, so I can’t speak to that. We aren’t continuing with CC memory work and are doing other things this year, but there are tons of videos on RU-vid that so the memory work week-by-week.
I forget what it’s called, but when we were doing CC, I paid for some type of membership that had a file sharing area and found it there. Sorry I’m not more help! We don’t do CC anymore.
Not currently. We were in one in the fall but decided not to go back for various reasons. We’ve pulled from it what we want to and what works for us for the rest of the school year.
