The fact that your spouse wants to (and is able to) offer support in homeschooling is beautiful. ❤️

LOVE "Tea Talk with Abby" ❤ You have a lot to offer homeschool moms... A lot of experience under your belt! I appreciate these videos from you ☺❤ I also needed the reminder of "fun on the floor" and those "lap" moments ❤

This is one of my favorite videos you have ever made! Hit home in so many ways! My husband helps with things around the house and I immediately thanked him for freeing me to homeschool better! I love what you said about the floor being fun. My kids are 8, 6 and 17 months so I am making an effort every day to have time on the floor with my son. I even have a column in my homeschool planner for backwards planning to remind myself to do an activity with him everyday. I’m going into my 5th year homeschooling and most of what you said I knew, but were such good reminders.

So many good tips and encouragement. I struggle so much with self-doubt and my ability to homeschool my kids. Thank you for these reminders.

I started homeschooling our soon-to-be 3rd grader last September and I went into it with the attitude that ideas from others are great, but ultimately I’m going to do what’s best for us. I couldn’t care less if other homeschoolers think we are too structured, learning too quickly, have too much curriculum.. Ignoring everything people told me I should or should not do in our homeschool and focusing on what my son needed, made for an amazing first year! Having confidence that we can teach our children, will make us less vulnerable to others’ opinions and judgments. I love reading posts and watching videos about what other homeschooling moms do. If inspired, I may use bits and pieces from what others do, or do my own thing, to mold our own homeschool experience. I’m confident we’ll have an awesome 2nd year because we won’t be measuring our experience against anyone else’s. :) I’m thankful for my husband’s support and our friends and family.

I have a lot of trouble finding something that refreshes me enough in the afternoon to get through the evening. Don't be too hard on yourself for not savoring the early years. That time has its own stresses that make it difficult. I'm sure you did the best you could at the time.

This was so heart felt for me. I appreciate your chat and advice. We are in our 8th year home schooling. Support from my husband who is only step father to all of my children is unbelievable. I know without his support in our home I would not have been able to do everything I have done. What a blessing it is. My husband is a carpenter and he builds us our desk' and our bookshelves and anything else that we need. And that is his way of supporting us in our journey. I applaud any spouse who supports a home schooling mom or dad. It is a beautiful thing. I too wish I had known that gaming is schooling. I thought in our first years that home school needed to look more like text books and writing, when in fact learning happens all the time. It happens through gaming, playing or just story telling.

I wish I would have known about MOPS. I was so eager to get going and join all the homeschool groups that I skipped over this valuable restful period when I was losing my mind with a 3yo, 2yo and infant.

So much wisdom, thank you! I really found last year that after a day of homeschooling that I was too tired for the rest of day (parenting & that relationship you always talk about), so I am switching up how I do things in the new year. Ironically, the big change will be having more of a schedule & sticking with it because part of the challenge last year was the homeschool work took most of the day. I thought spreading it out would make it less like "work," etc. I had more time due to the pandemic, but hopefully this year things will be back to normal and we'll be out of the home more.

Love this chat! What you said about holding onto your kids when they’re little couldn’t be more spot on. I have 4 kids ages 8 to 26, the first three are only a couple of years apart and my youngest daughter was born when my oldest was 17. Oh if I knew then what I know now!!! I hold onto every bit of time with her because I know I’ll blink and she’ll be 18. I’d love her to stay 8 forever❤️ but as we know to well they grow up fast so savor it all!

You gave great advice for new homeschool mamas! I agree with so many things from not stressing about yourvpreschopler- just take your cue from them, personal quiet time so important. And it saddens me to hear about the disapproval from others because I also felt that heat . Its hard enough being in a secular world that us hpmeschpl mamas should empower each other not judge. Great video!! 😁

Thanks for sharing! My oldest turns 6 in a couple weeks! I have home schooled the past two years and these tips as we get started on a little more structured schooling are very helpful. Love the encouragement to take time for myself in the afternoon so that the rest of the day goes better. Really similar in that way.

Thank you so much for all of these tips! This is my first year full on homeschooling and I have three littles so I’m feeling the overwhelm coming on. I also have a very small YT channel and Etsy shop I’m trying to grow during it all. Do you have any tips on how you do homeschool, homemaking, and YT? You mentioned that John helps with the house a lot. That was so nice to hear, and my husband happened to be sitting with me while watching your video, so that was awesome. Does he help you take time for filming, or do your kids do well for all the time it takes to film and edit. Just curious, since you get a lot of content out and are successful, if you have any tips for all that since now I’m seeing how much time prepping for videos, filming, and editing take, and it’s on-going.

So much good advice in this. Being inspired by other homeschoolers vs feeling a need to keep up or recreate is HUGE! Especially after "curriculum summer" where all homeschool channels are sharing resources they use or curriculum they are buying for the new year. It's all incredibly helpful as long as you keep a broad mindset on what works for your children. 👏👏💕💕
