I’m personally very glad I was never homeschooled as much as I wanted to as a kid. I learned a lot of discipline and how to do things I didn’t want to which is so important in the job market. Currently getting my degree in a subject I don’t love, but it’s just the reality of the job market - my degree will open doors and allow me to have a salary that can provide for myself and maybe a family in the future. Unfortunately, reality for most people is something like this, and that doesn’t mean you are unhappy! It’s a lot of stress off your back when you can get a salary working for someone else and not being concerned about running the whole company

Exactly I mean yes they worked hard to get to where they are now but it also needs a little bit of luck and as long as you don’t already have this kind of social media community or parents who support you you need to have a degree to earn money. I would like them to mention this at least once because they do have a privileged point of view these days.

Also, that there are subjects that they will not necessarily need to know directly but will help train their brains how to think and solve issues as adults. For example, group projects teach you how to work with others with whom you will not necessarily easily get along with.

Good for you for doing what is best for your family!! I am a public school teacher in Canada and there really are so many children who benefit from different methods and different types of schooling. I believe everyone learns differently. Love your family ❤

home schooling is advantage for kids and parents but is quite expensive compare to regular schooling, it always see your child/s and disadvantage is the social part were little people mingle and friendships w/ other child/s are not present. introvert kids were develop while extrovert students produce by regular schooling/ peer factors are consider in regular schooling.👏👏👏.

This was so good, you all had similar thoughts to me about homeschool. I homeschooled my son until grade 5. I loved that special time we had. I remember seeing a light switch on in him when he realised learning all those letters eventually make a story he can actually read. So thankful I was able to be with him in those years. Such an adventure

In most of the US we have universal pre k which is only three hours per day. Families can generally choose morning or afternoon attendance. So it's essentially part time free schooling for pre k ages.

It’s actually really interesting to see how different the mindset is when one is homeschooled vs normal school. I’ve been going to school all my life and I personally don’t mind it because my personality sort of feeds on knowing everything so I genuinely love every subject I did in high school. Part of my love for all school subjects comes from knowing that education is a privilege that I should take full advantage of while I can bc my ancestors didn’t have the opportunities I have now. However, this mindset does cause me to have really bad anxiety and stress. So it’s quite refreshing to see homeschooling as a way to thrive and channel all your energy into a passion. Now I’m in university and I love that I get to focus on my passions, which are chemistry and biology, as compared to high school when I had to do stuff like general paper. Keep up the good work guys!

Sounds like homeschooling is best way to go, when I was in school I was in that transition of introduction to technology more, definitely 'dodged the bullet' 😂 but on a serious note I wish I was homeschooled ❤

You guys should do a challenge! here’s some ideas… sorry if you have already done some of these - Who can cook the best 3 course meal (who’s the best cook?) - Last to leave - This may be weird and i’m not sure what you would call it but you could do a last to stop doing their activity/hobby so for example everyone could pick one thing maybe gymnastics, art, rock climbing, reading.

Totally agree that travel helps you come alongside other cultures. Sadly I'm 36 and got to a point in life I'm sad most of my people are British also my daughters have missed out too. You have good lives, you're giving your children amazing experiences.

Not a question but just to say your such a lovely family and love the love and support you have for one another my family the same as ive got a life limiting illness and the support i get from all my family is amazing i feel so loved and lucky at 35 to have all the love i do have. Thank you for sharing your home school journey i wish growing up i could of been homeschooled as i was always in and out of hospital and did school in hospital but i missed so much learning and friendships i had formed they had all moved on so hard being so poorly but now i love learning all about my medical stuff and i got a level three in early years and ive got autism and a mild learning diffculties and hospital always said i wouldnt be able to do any of this and ive achieved so much thanks to my mum as the doctors and other people always said i wouldnt due to my gentic life limiting but mum always pushed me to be the best of my ablity and told me i could always aspire to what i wanted in life. she was a brillant role model for me as she was a single mom on her own ans had to work three jobs to help bring me up and my sister but we never missed out we have had the best but thats just the love and adventures she gave us as i find as an adult money doesnt by happiness love from family and friends and those you choose to be around do. Love you guys hope your all well 💖

I love the idea of unschooling as I'm not very good at proper school. with it, you could find a way to fit normal school into it. So if you child's passion is geography, the world and nature, like mine is, you could use it to teach maths and English and science.

I like the concept of homeschooling and that there’re different kinds of! Here in Germany homeschooling is illegal and every child has to go to a in person school!

That surprises that homeschooling is illegal in germany as I always viewed it as quite progressive in schooling after I did an exchange in germany 😅. Is there exemptions for those who may not be able to attend school i.e. those with medical conditions?

@@emilyconnelly-3449I am not 100% sure but there are definitely schools for children with special needs. But for example a girl i knew got depression and was in a psychiatric institution and in the end she had to repeat the 10th grade because there is no other way to learn and especially to do the exams. And as long as you don’t do the exams you cant get to the next grade. But idk if there are some different laws by now.

I really like you guys opinions! I personally especially agree that it’s too much time from parents at school even adult kids at college if they don’t want to be there & parents are pushing them there. I definitely don’t agree with homework. & for people like me with learning difficulties & mental illness. I didn’t learn anything at school or college apart from how people can bully you. It was exhausting, stressful, straining, scary etc for me in eduction. I’d of liked to have the opportunity to pick subjects to do at home. I mean at college I was too thick to do childcare level 2 & yes that’s how they more aless said it then I was told I was stupid in same way at the second college by a phycholgise there. People can never be trusted around your kids or vulnerable adults unfortunately. I have carers 24 7 for last 8 years after been in a physc hospitals for 2 & half years. My daughter doesn’t live with me & is at nursery right now. I’m not impressed, I’m not saying same experience for everyone x

I think the type of school is up to every family, no judgement. I was just wondering if they can get a GED like this? I’m not sure if they have that in the US, but I homeschooled myself for part of high school and then got that instead of a diploma. It could be different in the UK but in the US it’s very hard to get a job without something like that so I was curious. I mean, if owning your own business doesn’t work out or at some point want a more traditional job. I think they are lucky that they have their parents help and don’t have to get a job right at 18 just to live/eat. That would be cool cuz it’s hard to follow passions if you have to do that. I think maybe in some parts of the US this is not possible but I really admire the idea. Never let the spark go out but in other places, try to reignite it

The UK version would be GCSEs and yes you can get GCSEs through homeschooling even in the uk (I’m not sure about US) you can get your college a levels and university degree from learning at home. HOWEVER, in a previous video mia said that she wasn’t doing the GCSEs exams and that she didn’t feel a need to because she already has a career in social media + as an author. Which I can understand to an extent and the experience she has learnt will be great in translating to specific careers. But I do think it’s important to have at the very least GCSEs (in the uk it’s normal to have GCSEs + a levels or an a level equivalence) as most regular jobs you apply for will want at least knowledge that you can understand maths and English (usually though seeing you have the GCSEs in it) and if you want a specific career they expect more qualifications.

I'm all for going to school and that suited me very well but in first grade I was told off a lot for standing up while we were doing our schoolwork. I mean if I hadn't done the work or was disturbing I get it but I was there still and doing my work but just standing up. I was told off so much that I started to do my work sitting down even though I thought it was much more comfortable standing up. Nowadays people try to stand up in the office and so and we have realized the dangers of sitting down too much, guess I was just early on it 😅
