Thank you all for being so patient with us, we’re so grateful to all of you for watching our videos and supporting us. Let us know what you think of the latest video! ❤️
I have a farming background down here in AU , you need to have an electric wire outrigger on the outside of your heavy steal fence , it sits about 1ft outside the steel fence about 3foot of the ground level. The outrigger needs to run at about 25-50k volts to penitrate thick fur and hair. The inside acts as the earth and the outrigger acts as the positive. When the beasts try to push thrugh they complete the circuit. In you dry stony soil you cant use the ground as an earth as there is not enough water to conduct the electricity. Look up Australian farming fences as we have similar pests and conditions as you. The combination of a good sturdy fence and eleticity will keep the beasts out
Wow thank you Ray, that's some really good advice. We always struggled with our electric fence here (7000volt chicken fence), the grounding never seemed to work, so this solution of grounding off the fence itself is really clever, glad someone finally told us the problem with ours! 25-50k volts is also a huge voltage! haha we definitely need a stronger system. The sheep always got through our electric fencing at 7000 volts and we never knew why! Really appreciate the advice and support Ray!
You two are honestly like the classic city slickers that moved out to the wilds and have to learn everything about country living. Hats off to you for your adventurous endeavor.
Haha glad you're enjoying our adventurous endeavour! We're certainly learning everything from scratch, I imagine it's a little painful for some people to watch all the things we get wrong in every episode! We really appreciate the comment and love!
Sage is so cute. I have a 4 years old son and it is such a joy to see children spending time with their parents doing a project together. Thank you for sharing a glimpse of your family.
Haha thanks Neil, Robbie was happy to hear you approved of his frog conservation, I can't say I was particularly happy about this at the time haha... I feel like I spend a lot of my day trying to move the projects along whilst Robbie is off saving all the different types of animals all over the land!
Thank you Alan that's a really kind thing to say. We do try and capture things the way they are, although often that means it can feel like lots and lots of bad things are happening to us haha! Really appreciate the comment and the love
Hi, I just stumbled on your videos a few days ago, and have been watching a couple a day ever since. So Beautiful and refreshing. Now I want to come to Spain and see the country. I live in Canada.
Hey Alison, thank you for the kind words! And thank you so much for watching so many of our videos and subscribing! Spain is an amazing country! We'd love to visit Canada too, we wish we had more trees like Canada! ❤️
That spiders going to unlock the gate now, and let the boar in to scratch their ass on your trees as revenge. Glad to see you're all safe and back at it.
Thank you Khris that's a very kind thing to say! It's been a crazy few weeks trying to get all our videos back from the hard drive, hopefully we never have to go through that again! On the plus side we were able to film a lot of the next video so hopefully that will be out soon! Thanks so much for your comments and support!
wow this episode had it all - sexy banter, edgy banter, boring banter, lethargy, a plethora of animals, many miniature natural disasters, yoga, welding lessons, mechanical engineering lessons, breastfeeding, a very ambitious (and alas incomplete) project...and the preview of the next one? fire??!?! evacuations?? ay yay yay mannn you guys are warriors.....very silly yet tenacious warriors I salute you!
Haha thank you Adam for the kind words! When you write it all out like that it really does sound like a well rounded episode! It took us longer than any other episode to make, so it's really nice to hear your kind words! Makes it all worth it in the end! "Very silly tenacious warriors" haha a great analysis
Nearly forgot how much i missed your beautiful vlog showing true ❤ of being together as a family doing tough tasks in a rugged terrain in rain&wind but powering thru 😊 Hope the steel fence works 🙏
You guys are such a lovely family and it’s wonderful that you share your life with us. My wife and I are hoping to travel to Spain for our 25th anniversary later this year.
Thank you Greg that's a really sweet comment! ❤️ Thank you for watching our videos and supporting our family! Hope you have a great anniversary - 25 years as well! Where are you thinking of travelling in Spain?
I know things go slowly, especially when you're working alone, but you're progressing wonderfully. Try to use the right tool for the job. An adjustable spanner would be much better for the tensioners than the pliers.
Thank you for all your kind words! It's nice to hear you think we're progressing! When you're working everyday on projects it can feel a little slow at times! We'll definitely use socket set next time for tensioning thank you!! ❤️
Oh goodness that's a nice thing to say thank you! Haha it feels like we get everything done so slowly, but I guess when we look back at the videos it's quite rewarding to see we are actually moving forwards even if it is like a snail!
Your videos are beautiful and original, and so is your project to make a living in such a remote place. What an everyday challenge! I think you have all the ingredients to become a huge RU-vid success story 😃
Thank you Tristan for your kind comment and motivational words! It really made our day! It would be nice if there were maybe slightly less challenges though haha, sometimes it is impossible to get anything done because we are fixing everything or the animals have eaten everything or the storm has blown everything away!
Thanks again for the ongoing support Darius! Really appreciate the love! How long have you lived on your homestead for in Canada? Do you have animals? ❤️
Haha I just can't believe Robbie continues to go near those spiders, it doesn't make any sense. We now have a lot of very angry spiders all over our land waiting for me to sit down!
Yes we do! It's all a matter of time... although we are a bit worried about how long it might take to train it! Any ideas on a good dog breed? There is a shepherd on the mountain with sheep and we'd need to make sure it doesn't chase his sheep! We have a friend in the valley who has some big dogs on chains at night but the jabali come right up to the circumference of the chain knowing the dog can't get them, then they go in his kitchen and eat his food! They are very clever animals!
@@ladyandtheowlman Make a maximum/minimum enough 'Perimeter Fence' around your house, garden, livestock - that allows your Guard dogs (2) to stay within the perimeter to chase away intruders. Also hang cow bells intermittently along on the fence (wire) that will make a noise whenever there is something trying to breach the fence. The noise will alert the dogs to their presence. But the fence should be strong enough to prevent the dogs from running off after them and getting lost. If you have power along the fence line, you can also put motion detectors with lights that will help see you at night in an emergency.
Some great advice here thank you. The perimeter fence makes sense... although a scary amount of work with all the terraces and i'm sure dogs are pretty good at getting out of a fence! Cow bells is a cool idea, and also motion sensing lights could work as well. All great ideas thank you for writing them down for us!
Thank you Mike ❤️. Although we're currently only living in 1 room in the top of the house, we have lots of renovation ahead of us to be able to live in the rest of it! No doubt it will take us the rest of our lives to finish it at the snails pace we seem to work at haha!
From all homesteaders' stories, it seems to me that the most important thing to start with, even before the house, is good, strong fences around the animals, the gardens and the baby trees..... to avoid a lot of frustration, losses and waste of time and money....
Thanks so much for all your comments we really appreciate the support! Yes you are right, we could have saved ourselves a lot of problems by making a good fence in the beginning! I guess in the beginning though we didn't have the experience or knowledge about which types of fences would work, we made a lot of very bad fences that didn't work haha! You also need to live for a while on your land to know where is best to put a fence, because we have 14 acres and would take us a lifetime to fence the entire land, so we need to be more strategic where fences go, and in the early days you're still not sure where you want things like food forests and vegetables and other trees. ❤️
Great to watch your family grow and your adventures with the property. One thing, winds don't usually go west. What you are seeing is probably polution (vehicle exhaust) from the city.
Thank you Eric glad to have you on the journey with us! ❤️ Yeah could be pollution, never thought of that. Although sometimes we get news alerts about Saharan dust, and it covers our car windscreen, and all the leaves in the garden! It seems crazy that it would make it all this way!
Great video! I laugh when Robbie is trying to explain things and gets shut down because it's too boring lol. And for the love of all that's holy, give her a 13mm box end wrench or ANYTHING else than those crappy linesman pliers to tighten the fence wires. :D Keep up the good work! You're very hard workers!
Thanks for the love Mike! Haha right I'll tell Robbie he is supplying me with the wrong tools for the job, I knew we weren't doing it right it was absolutely impossible! ❤️
Glad to see the rain water mitigation, startling what water and gravity can do! Great find on the pipes, our daughter played peek a boo just like that at our ditch when it was dry, 👍👍 on a generator and a wire feed welder, as I mentioned I need to catch up on episodes. For as much as you get in rain a rain water cistern would be in order, having that spring is priceless, we are learning numbers in Spanish too, and a lot comes back cause as kids we were bilingual but barely spoke it, the dialect in our area is 400 plus years old, it's the what the Conquistadores spoke in Spain so long ago, here it relatively unchanged, funny to speak it cause Spanish is all around the world and it is different depending on where you located. Sure is looking great, itnia rewarding to work for yourself. 😊😊😊
Thank you Jerome for the sweet comment! You'll see in todays video if the tube worked in the rain or not! Advice on MIG welding on generators would be great! For sure we need a rainwater collection tank, we're installing a 100,000 litre one soon! ❤️
@@ladyandtheowlman Funny how we are talking about rain, we are in our monsoon season and I too got some fence work done in the blistering heat yesterday and a nice cool off at night, we live at 7500 feet above sea level, are you that high in elevation? I glad to have got our wood stores for the winter, it was brutal but high quality, the trees I see you cut look like they burn hot! And so does old fruit wood. Do you have a root cellar planned? A smoke house is nice, don't know about the laws where you live but plenty of wildlife to hunt. Our gardens are doing well and the chickens and ducks are going after the grasshoppers, with the right combinations things work out.
Wow that is very high! We are around 760m above sea level, you are 2,200 meters above! Cool you have ducks too! We'd love a root cellar but no idea how to make one cold enough for hot summers here ❤️
@@ladyandtheowlman The only idea I come up with is a plastic water tank buried, and encased in stone, plus the water mitigation to keep it from being washed out, with proper screened venting so no bugs get into it. A 4500 gallon tank is 6 or more feet in diameter and more than tall enough to stand up in. Think about it? The amount of water in those storms is concerning. Our season change is already happening here, sometimes we have 2 seasons winter and 4th of July, the farmers almanac is essential to weather cycles I trust it more than anything..
That's a cool idea, we'd definitely like a tank that big for rainwater collection for our house roof, and pump it back to the top of our land into our big water tank. Encased in concrete or stone seems a good idea so it doesn't become buoyant and float upwards! ❤️
a new Video 🥹 and your all fine💫 i Love your Videos, you are doing a great Job! Sage ist sooo cute, i laughed so much"... and we let Papa fix the Desaster"🤣🤣🤣
Thank you Tina for the sweet comment! We really appreciate the love! Haha yes cutting through our mains water pipe wasn't exactly fun for Robbie, but luckily once I'd finished my cup of tea Robbie had fixed it all! Sage really is the cutest, when he's not breaking my sunglasses that is!
Thanks again Aussie Homestead, for all your love and support! Glad you liked this video too! Do you think it'll keep the rabbits out? Not too many rabbits around but imagine you couldn't build a fence like this in Australia with all the rabbits? ❤️
Oh no worries :) You are both wise beyond your years & perhaps old soles :) Our journey began in 2014, when we finally left our metropolitan lives after many years of delays. Yes, we did have chickens. Now we are considering a "Land-share" project where folks of all abilities, ages, backgrounds, trades can pool their resources and passions and live peacefully & sustainably. A.N.D Ecovillage
Thank you Darius that's a very sweet thing to say. So great you managed to leave even after the delays! It can be so difficult to make the jump. That seems like a great idea, and good for having a nice community around you, sometimes we wonder whether we should create a community! ❤️
@@ladyandtheowlman Hi folks :) I was sincere in say that, and so are you two, and that is why people watch & support you :) Starting a community can be very difficult. Sincere, honest & hard working folks like us, always assume the best in others, and that has not worked out in our favour historically specking. Still we hope to one day meet the right individuals. Sending you positive vibes from Canada :)
Thanks Alan I'll give this a go! No sure why we didn't try this... I think I was a bit worried about tensioning too much and bending the posts... but in hindsight it would have saved a lot of time and effort. Also I scraped off some of the galvanising using the pliers because they kept slipping so will probably get rust on those now which isn't ideal!
Glad to see that you are still working hard, 😓 , great to see the beautiful 😍 mountain ⛰️ peaks, again, sage is in joying himself, not being offensive. 😂, but I Think the baby hoagies are going to get through the fence, might be worth putting a overlap on the fencing or some smaller grade fencing along the bottom, when you are doing your welding on the metal, I couldn’t quite tell whether the metal was galvanised or not, this is extremely toxic, When you are burning it when welding, well worth the effort you have put in, it does look amazing, 🤩, The vegetables looked very good that you had grown, hopefully some more veg later in the year, So long as the hoagies and sheep goats don’t get them, Sorry to see and hear that you had to evacuate your property, because of wildfires, It’s that time of year again, isn’t it?, As always, very enjoyable , Stay safe keep up the amazing work, it will all slowly come together, you are building an amazing lifestyle, From France,
Thanks for the comment Phil! You're right about the baby boar, hadn't thought of that! Hopefully if they do go in they won't venture far from their parents before returning to them! Yes they are gavanised posts - we've recently heard from someone else that it is dangerous, so we'll definitely be wearing a mask in future thank you for letting us know! Thanks so much for all the love and positive vibes Phil we really appreciate it! ❤️
@@ladyandtheowlman there is one more reason to stop the baby hoagies them from getting through the fence, mum and dad will run a riot. They will rip the fence apart to get to their babies., Do not want to be on the receiving end of Wildboar when they’re angry, very very dangerous, you’ll be better off getting yourself a permit and Some type of weapon, you could make yourself a very strong crossbow, Not sure whether I have said, but I’ve just been back to the UK and picked up the rest of my contents , mainly a lot of timber, and something that is called a HOG , I WONDER IF YOU CAN GUESS WHAT IT IS, stay safe keep up the amazing work, you never know I might drop in and see you on-my Hog, 😂🥰 to you all,
Well yes that does sound like something an angry wild boar would do! Good thinking... maybe we should think about keeping the baby ones out too with some smaller netting.
Komşumuz bize her direğin üstünü sarıya boyamamızı söyledi, çünkü o zaman muflon onları karanlıkta görebilir!
OMG 4 days later this shows up for me to watch?! RU-vid let me down on this. I can't believe there was a new vid around for 96 hours and I just now get to watch it. Oh well at least I get to enjoy it now. Careful welding galvanized steel the gases produced are extremely poisonous.
Haha that's very sweet of you, glad you get excited about our episodes Fireindahole! We really appreciate your comments and love, let us know what you think of the episode? Thanks for the advice about welding galvanising, someone else mentioned that as well, so we're going to be wearing a mask from here on out! (although quite hard to get mask on under a welding mask, how does that work?!)
To prevent a knot in your string, all you need is a small 6in wide board with at both sides of the board leave both the outside edges a couple of inches longer so the outside edges serve as a holder of the string.
Thanks David, we will try this next time! Although Sage is very good at unwinding most things, you turn your back for 1 second and it is utter destruction everywhere you look!
Haha thanks James, it does seem like we could solve all our problems if one of us could just find a passion for hunting! Do you have experience hunting? Wouldn't we have to get up every night and sit in a tree trying to keep the animals at bay?
Thanks for the advice David! Really appreciate it! Robbie said he'll try this next time! He's been welding for 3 years with that welder! We welded me a post the other day out of 2 bits of 20mm rebar, but when I hammered it into the ground with a sledge hammer the other bit of rebar fell right off haha.
It's a wonderful idea! We're definitely keen to try, although we have no experience in hunting or preparing meat! Do you have experience in this? We have an agreement that if Robbie manages to hunt one with his bow then I will prepare the meat for freezing/ eating! We love the idea of organic meat from the mountain!
@@ladyandtheowlman I did it as a boy with my father. Is a relatively easy proess, especialy for sheep as once you cut the skin in certain positions, super easy to pull off. The gut them, care ful not to cut open the small spleen as it will taint the flavour of what it goes on, then cut into pieces, I suggest watching a couple of chanels I watch from the States, who show some of tho, Sow the Land & Justin Rhodes. Good luck. Rosemary and roast lamb, oh my :))
Wow that's some amazing advice thank you! Cool that you were taught by your father, seems like we should be teaching Sage this as well. I think if we can just keep our minds focused on the end goal of Rosemary and roast lamp we could just about do it! We need to become a bit more hardy. Feels like our grandparents could do this kind of thing easily, and then our generation lost the killer instinct. We'll check those channels out thanks for the recommendations!
Thanks for your comment SirHackaLot! We are 760m above sea level so the local farmers say you can't grow oranges or avocados because it's too cold, but we're going to try anyway! Maybe we'll put some fleece over the trees when there is a frost each year. Plums, pomegranates, peaches, lemons all grow well at our height though which is good!
Guys, a much more efficient investment is a rifle with a scope (night scope is even better) because it is - cheaper then a fence - much less time and labour consuming in use - it brings in free food ( you need a freezer and unlearn vegetarianism though) - it scare and teaches wild life not to come back
Thanks Alexei! Haha appreciate the bullet points here! We're definitely thinking about our options for the future, so thanks for fighting your view. Questions: 1) Would we need to stay up all night trying to shoot a wild boar? (Sounds like quite a lot of work!?) 2) How long until they come back after shooting one? 3) We have 60,000m2 of land, would we need to shoot in different areas of the land or just focus on wild boar near the house?
Maybe plant some trees/grasses that can build up bio matter quicker. Can you find a chipper for your tractor? .. Ittthe perfect time to do it....while you get other things done, these will keep growing. Can you protect some ofbthe new trees with some spikey bushes? Something that gows naturally in the area that doesn't get eatent?
Thank you for your comments and support for our channel we really appreciate it! For sure we are growing lots of trees in our food forest that are fast growing and we will chop these back each year in order to build the bio matter around the fruit trees. You're totally right, a wood chipper would be a great way of building organic matter quickly, we're saving up to buy one at the moment! Spikey bushes we tried but the animals on this mountain are very used to spikey bushes so it doesn't bother them at all! ❤️
Thank you Josey! That's good advice. It's tough not to get bogged down with all the projects and constant feeling nothing is finished! But when we make a video and watch it through it's really rewarding to step back and see some progress getting done! We really appreciate the love ❤️

Great progress, guys! I love the timelapse with clouds moving through the sunny sky. Any issues with mosquitos up there in the mountains? Oh and also, what do you think about getting a dog? Would be fun for the kid and to protect your property. Greetings from Xabia
Thank you for the kind words Andreas! Means the world to us you're enjoying our videos! And so close to us watching from Xabia! Some of the timelapses were really cool, sometimes the light and clouds are so perfect! The mosquitos are just beginning to start, then they will disappear around October. We'd love to get a dog, it's just a bit daunting to think about all the training it would need.. it needs to be able to keep the mouflon, sheep, goats and jabali away but not scare the shepherds sheep too much because the shepherd won't be very happy, sometimes his sheep get injured by walkers dogs so you have to be careful. Any suggestions on dog breed that would be good?
3 месяца назад
@@ladyandtheowlman Naturally, I would opt for a German shepherd. They protect their herd (including yourselves 🙂) and bark to alert you and to scare unwanted visitors away. They can stay outside, even during the night, where you live and they are lovely with kids. Keep in mind, they love to jump into water, especially when it is hot. You are spot on; they do need training (especially during the first six months). Did you discuss the possibility with your neighbour/shepherd?
That's some great advice thanks so much! When we finally buy a dog we'll ask you some more questions because it sounds like you have some good experience! The shepherd has lots of dogs, all of the same breed, for some reason we never asked what breed they are, but he says it's the only dog that works with his sheep!
Haha we do wish there we maybe a few less struggles! Maybe one day we will have it all sorted and we can live our lives in peace! Thank you for the comment it means the world to us you're watching our videos!
@@ladyandtheowlman I so much want you to succeed--to make a happy life, to stay together. I built a house with my first wife, on an island, no electricity, in the far north. I'm going there soon, and the grandchildren will be there too for the summer. Maintaining it against the depredations of time and weather is all I'm able for. But it's been a blessing.
Wow it sounds like you have a lot of experience in building Adrian! Great to be able to go back there with your grandchildren! Maintaining a house can be hard work that's for sure!
Thanks for the advice! Robbie said he did try grinding some off before and even ground off where the ground clamp was going but still came out a bit crazy. Thanks for watching and leaving us a comment ❤️
1 John 4:4 King James Version 4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Gods blessings over you .
Thank you for your comment Martin, you have a really cool channel we have seen your videos before! You're doing something great! Someone already told us about how you use dogs to keep away the deer so we'll watch some more of your videos and find out more!
@@ladyandtheowlman If I may suggest a few things: Get at least two siblings from the same litter. Then you can always have one dog free to roam at night and the free dog won't go too far. The second is not to make them your house friends, keep them outside and feed them the last meal of the day some raw meat. The breed you choose is important. Border Collies are beautiful but like to visit the neighbours. Some mixed race of perro de agua, crossed with something with short hair. Get them young, borrow a bigger dog in the meantime, and take them on walks all hours of the night. Some basic training is imperative. I hope this helps.
Wow that's some great advice thank you Martin! Seems like you have a solid strategy there. A little daunting we've got to admit... it's a lot of work when we've already got our hands full with Sage! But seems like it's definitely worth the effort in the end. When we do finally get a dog (or two like you say), we'll come and ask you some more questions if that's ok!
@@ladyandtheowlman You are welcome. Please ask and I can even make a video when I have your questions. Allow me one comment: Keeping the dogs and not having the pigs and deer destroying everything made my life much simpler. The dogs should become working partners and not be another "child".
That's a cool idea we'll send you some questions when we finally get around to finding a dog! Yes that makes sense... once you've trained them they become very useful for sure! (we also hope the same for Sage in time!)
Thanks for the comment and support! We're going to start renovations downstairs in the house soon, so we'll give a full walkthrough of what it looks like down there! We currently live in 1 room upstairs! You can see what the house looks like inside in our first ever video, it's the video at the top of our channel home page "2 year timelapse" one, it also shows the room we currently live in upstairs too!
better don`t put concrete to the ground level for avoid pushing up poles by ice (leave 5-10cm soild over concrete). And don`t forget that you can use tractor for pull fence
Wow thanks that's great advice! We weren't sure if ice was a problem for concrete in spain, it does freeze about 3 times per year to around -3/-4 degrees. I could imagine if we get a big frost that the posts might move yes...and then maybe our gate wouldn't close anymore! Really appreciate the advice!
Yes luckily we came to our senses after the hawk attack so we made a tunnel for them to live in. It was a lot of work making it though, and we wish we could give them more space to roam around outside, but as soon as they go outside the hawks and eagles start moving in!
@@ladyandtheowlman sorry, im a newbie to your channel, so excuse my lack of knowledge. I’m not sure a tunnel would make much of a difference since a hawk can go into it too. They need cover from above. We raised chickens we went through the same learning curve. If you have a fence, netting can be bought to go over the top. Not sure if you have Amazon out your way or not.
You are doing great work. You are a very nice family. I love and follow you very much. You are getting very tired. I think you should get some help to get things done quickly.
Thank you Omur that is very kind! And yes I think you are right, we could really do with some full time workers to help us get all our projects done quicker! Thanks for supporting our channel and our family! ❤️
Yes you need a working dog, that lives outside. Inside your fence. That will fix the problem otherwise the animals will figure a way in. Feral pigs are incredibly tough and will eventually get in.
Thanks for the advice! Having a dog inside the fence would definitely give us that next level of security. We need a bigger perimeter fence really... around the house and trees/ vegetables closer to the house, then a dog could protect everything... right now we only have this small fence around the vegetables and food forest, but we have 14 acres of land being eaten by sheep, goats, boar everyday so can't plant anything here! In the long run we'll give the dog a go for sure. Thanks so much for the comment and support for our channel! ❤️
Thanks Eduardo for the kind comment! We're definitely thinking about it! Although what do you do if you catch 10 boars and you only want to eat one of them?
you should remove that board and and pour cement over that pipe so it dont move when you drive over it. did you feel it move when you went over it it is gonna break from that.
Thanks for your comment! This is very good advice thank you. Do you think it will break even with the sand we put around it? Oh goodness, that means we have more work to do haha.
bury the fence in the ground about 12 inch because the critters will trying to dig under it, Also line outside with big rock, I would also add 2 strains 12 inch apart electric around it with more voltage,, once they smell that sweet fruit they'll kill them self's to get to it,,,,, good luck
Wow thanks for the advice Repair Man! You're right about burying the fence, it''s just that where we live the ground is so hard, and there are many big stones so digging a trench would take us a very very long time! Although checkout part 2 of the fence video (coming soon) to see Robbie try and fashion something to stop the beasts coming underneath, you can let us know if you think it will work! Electric fence strands is a great idea, maybe if we do get some break-ins this can be our next defensive step! Although stopping the weeds growing around an electric fence can take a lot of work!
Thank you for the love Nihal! It means the world to us you're enjoying the videos! Haha yes those shots of the mouflon are pretty epic, such naughty beasts! Quite rare to be able to capture them in daylight, their colour is amazing!
A 12 bore or a 45 rifle would do the trick and put them in the freezer and then you can eat them instead.. I have galvanised pig wire up which keeps the wild boar at bay. So it's raining at last then. Just go in the rocks somewhere and stop worrying, we all have to go. When you get your bog finished, what ever you do don't put any chemicals of any kind down it or you'll stop it working then you'll have a stink on your hands. ? Why choose Spain as had a lot of bad comments from people who went to Spain and bad experiences and went home, most concerning bad nieghbours over boundries and government taking land and not compensating for it Looking at you 2 I would say N. Zealand would have been a good choice as plenty land out there where you can do what you are doing there and you are well inside the age restriction of 56.
Thanks for the advice Robert! We really appreciate all the wisdom! One day we'll be masterful hunters and we'll be able to live from the organic healthy animals around us, but right now we have no experience in hunting and are a little worried it might turn us vegans for life if we try it! I guess we chose Spain because it wasn't too far from england, so we could fly back and visit family somewhat easily! You definitely have to be a little lenient when you buy land in spain, but the locals are nice people as long as you get to know them and show you have a passion for farming and not just a tourist - they are all passionate farmers here!
Thank you Flandrin! Yes we figured that out by ourselves in the end haha. We made some pretty epic mistakes throughout this fence build that is for sure. We really appreciate your comments and support!
As an aspiring homesteader, what's holding me back is figuring out how to have some income. Would you care to share un a video how you earn a living now besides from the savings you obviously would have had started out with.
Thanks for the comment! We had some savings before we came, which allowed us to buy to house and develop 1 small room upstairs to live in, which we're actually very happy living in. I work 3 jobs in the nearby village, there is actually a lot of work to be had in the villages, cleaning mainly, or teaching english, if you are reliable and turn up on time you can find yourself with a lot of jobs! The jobs are 2-3 hours here and there which suits me great because I can come back to spend time with Sage, it's much better than working full 9-5 days in other work! Beyond this, obviously so much work is now online, Robbie has lots of opportunities to work online doing engineering work, however he spends most of his time helping to get our youtube videos out (which brings us some money now too thankfully) and building the house. Hope this helps! ❤️
