To go with the pruning saw, I use a Corona 2 handed Pruner, basically a mini set of bypass loppers (~12" long). With the steel handles and quality blades, they'll cut just about anything (well, here in the PNW at least, mostly brush and softwood here) you can fit into the jaws. These and the pruning saw always go with me on volunteer trail crew for cutting brush. The small set vs a full size lopper is light and fits on the pack easily. Also super handy around the yard. Pretty much if these loppers can't handle something, then it's big enough for the one hand razor saw. If that can't handle it, then the Katana Boy will get 'er done. If the Katana can't handle the cut, then it's either the chainsaw or crosscut saw time.

Hey Guys … good morning! Bucket connoisseur here!!! You can usually pick up 2 1/2 to 3 gallon buckets at donut shops for about two dollars sometimes 2.50 and sometimes even free! Also, you can grab a can of clear UV protective spray paint and give just about anything outside a light coat to give it a long, we’ll much longer anywho 🤓life in the sun! Oh and too, owning more tools than any girl, 😆 my most favorite addition to the Homestead in the past three years was one of those mini chainsaws you know the ones they look like they’re made for gnomes 😂 they are normally like 50 bucks. I got mine on a flash sale off of Amazon for I think it was 34 maybe 🤔 it has become the most used tool on my property … You would be surprised the size of branches and even trees that you can handle one of those little bad boys … I’m still on my first chain and I’ve made hundreds of cuts and it comes with two rechargeable batteries!

No pruning saw, have pruning blades for battery powered reciprocating saw.

Great list. Echoing clean pails for food storage, and quality shovel. Here's my opinion on an extra item: poly baling twine ... I use it a lot in the garden, tying down tarps, and very cheap if you buy the ones the farmers buy for baling hay. God Bless.

Thanks. I find the poly twine degrades too quickly. I use paracord for tying up everything in the garden. Not sure of the cost difference between those two though.

2 thing I would add is for (Pocket knifes) I prefer the Gerber pocket knife that take the common razor blades as I hate sharpening knifes and I would highly recommend The Ridgid tool brand ( I have owned ever brand and when the batteries die you might as well just buy a whole now set). They are the only tool brand that offers lifetime service agreement on their Drills, Saws, and Batteries. Just make sure you buy at Home Depot as they are the only Authorized store and register within 90 days. All my power tools are Ridgid and when they break i send them in for free and repair.

Great list! I would add a good quality tape measure. I ended up using them so often that I now have one in the garden tool bag, tool room, tool bucket and one in the house! I also gave one specifically to the children. Thanks again for the list!

Some good simple items buckets 20L are great even when you need a step up. I think you have to be careful with some of the rubber hoses as in i don't use them to drink water from as they contain so pretty toxic chemicals which gets less over time but still not great. You can buy water garden plastic water hoses for a bit more but they are suitable for drinking and less toxic for soil etc..

its a good list...looking at my "daily" list is also a hat. Also being I wear carpenter jeans I always seem to have a flat/philps screwdriver and linemen pliers

Good list sir. When I was younger I bought the cheapest tools i could find because it was all i could afford. Now that I'm older and my budget is a bit more forgiving i am slowly replacing these cheap tools with higher quality and im finding that it really does make a difference.

I don’t live in the countryside and don’t exactly need any of these tools,living in a city in Ireland, but your videos are so interesting to watch! I now know so much for if I ever decide to ditch Ireland and live in the American countryside haha! Keep making these!

Thanks Eric, I've got just about the same list and tools, one extra for me is my garden cart, it's on wheels, has some storage and when I had cancer, I could sit and roll around... still have it and use it and love it for all things, not just gardening. Blessings ❤

Relying only on the thumb nail only, it appears the homestead item in question is a child's casket. Weird.

Hi. A little off topic, but I have a question about your brassicas. I remember seeing in one of your videos that you are able to keep your collards and kale growing for several growing seasons straight. I am in zone 8b (SC). How do you keep them from bolting?
@CountryLivingExperience
@CountryLivingExperience 3 месяца назад
They will bolt and seed out but that is ok. They will sprout new edible portions from the stalk after that.

Can you recommend a good quality rubber hose? I watched one of your videos on hoses from 5 years ago but the provided links don't work anymore, too much time has passed. Thank you!
@CountryLivingExperience
@CountryLivingExperience 3 месяца назад
Thanks for the heads up on the links. Some of those companies don't even make rubber hoses anymore. This is the one I buy all the time now.....amzn.to/43jTJEC. It is a Continental.
