Not being a very green fingered person, I’m intrigued as to why you plant marigolds and nasturtium in your vegetable patch, is it to ward away slugs and snails? I wish I had space in my garden to have a veggie patch, you’ve really inspired me. Also how do you protect your veggie patch from the wildlife? Yesterday my garden was torn to shreds by a squirrel collecting the nuts 🌰 he’d hidden back in the autumn 🐿️🤦♀️ Bless Crusoe he really does love being outdoors and helping out with all the work on the farm…especially in the greenhouse 😂 🪑 🌱 🪴 ❤

I really love to watch your lovely child move like a big man. His working with you in your lovely farm is the best kind of teaching I have ever seen. It's so touching. I'm so impressed. I sure hope to see him interact with other children about his age, maybe on his next birthday or maybe when you go out to some park or a zoo probably. Forgive me for this suggestion. Couldn’t stop giggling watching Crusoe help plant potatoes. I don’t know how to spell his name, but your young neighbor had so much patience. I imagine he is a delight to have around, and Crusoe certainly adores him. It’s wonderful to have neighbors like you have.

When my son was around Caruso's age and helped us in the garden he wanted us to make sure to plant meatloaf. I love watching you and your young family develop your property and explore the possibilities. It makes mrpe happy every time I watch. It feels like this year is significant as it is all coming together. A grand garden, chickens (probably need 3 more) finishing the little cottage and the flowers. Please take us around and show us all the flowers later this spring. I am jealous of your Wisteria. Never could get mine to grow like that. They are glorious. As I watched Caruso dig random holes and plant potatoes a young me would think 'nooo' but the older me at 77 says it just doesn't matter. Let him dig. Next year he will understand rows as he sees the garden grow. Seeing life through his eyes at his age brings back my memories at his age. I actually remember many things at his age. Love your family.

Awwhhhh... A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E. Joao has an apprentice. How infinitely patient and sweet he is with Crusoe is so heartwarming. What a brilliant way to grow potatoes. Who would have thought! It's wonderful that you are becoming part of a village, which is the most beneficial way for a child to grow up. Such a joy to see this happening with Crusoe. Him carting his chair down the path and then seeing it positioned so he can get to the growing seedlings was too funny and cute. Tara... take your time with learning to garden and don't expect yourself to get it all right straight up. As a new gardener only seriously a couple of years in (albeit on my 8m2 balcony) I'm learning that. One of the absolute joys of gardening is the learning and teaching it brings us. Mario is truly a phenomenal digger operator. Wow. So impressive.

Tara, I can't believe you just had Sawyer just a few short months ago, nothing slows you down :D You look fantastic. Our little garden is wrapping up before the heat of the summer reaches over 105º and fries everything in the ground. We've got Loofa taking shape and a few Moringa Trees beginning to start making roots. Everything edible is finished and I have frozen what I could and I'm back to shopping for fruit and Veg at the Asian market here. Be Brave, plant what you can and continue to love your men large and small with all your heart. 🟦☮💟✝🟦
CARUSO’S development is just amazing and wonderful to see. These little poppets grow up so fast. My Grandson will be eight in no time, seems yesterday he was a wee little angel. AND MARIO, what a guy!!!! The first thing I learned to drive was my Grandads tractor on the Mojave Desert, we had almonds. Your property is growing so beautifully. Just thinking of the lovely potato soup in three months, french fries, baked potatoe, and MORE.

It's great that you include Crusoe in this learning to garden/farm experience, especially with his love of fruit. I'm sure that's exactly how Juao learned from his parents. And it won't be long before Crusoe will be teaching little Sawyer. I love listening to toddlers talk. Lots of random sounds with enough real words thrown in for you to get the gist of it. It's like trying to understand someone who's speaking another language that you've studied, but you're not fluent in yet.

I used to stagger my crops so that I always had what I wanted but not overwhelmed I also used to plant marigolds between my carrots to protect the carrots from whitefly , mind you later on I decided to only plant round carrots as I liked the look of them at a buffet table . I did used to cu5 my potatoes in half to get a large crop because potatoes can be used in almost every .meal and in different ways. If I had to buy a cucumber from the market I would save the seeds from the chopping board and lay on kitchen roll then when dried I would pot up , the same with my red, green , orange bell pepper seeds . Your garden is coming along nicely but I think Crusoe will have potatoes coming up everywhere .Mario is very adept with the big digger and I love how Joao is so good with Crusoe, and John has done a nice job with the windows in the small house . 👍❤️

@@TheNewbys they look so nice in a bowl as they do not get misshapen so can be cooked whole and the flavour is wonderful. I have been trying to grow an avocado tree from my pits , I know they say cut a slit in the top or a cross , stick tooth picks in to hold them in place in a container with just enough water to cover the bottoms , but mine never do anything, the only time I have failed and I hate failing so i have six on windowsill now , oh must check still water in there. Always nice to share little tips and it is lovely to hear from you love to you all xx

What surprises me is how Crusoe wants to help with everything and sticks with it. At that age it is not much help but he is learning. Usually they hang around for a bit and then go play but he wants to help instead. You are such good patient parents.

Remember being with my friend and the women in a family in Eastern Poland sitting a field harvesting potatos. Like a lovely Easter egg hunt and lots of chatter and laughter.
