Boss, it’s always a pleasure when I come across a video of yours that I have yet to see. My friend, you have created a wonderful and beautiful life for yourself and yours. You’re such an inspiration to us all. You have definitely motivated me to pursue my dreams of living in the woods. I can’t wait to tell you about it. It’s gonna be a challenge, but that’s when I’m at my best. The screen house you built is beautiful. Even better with skirting around the legal nonsense. My friend, God bless you and yours! It would be an honor to meet you!
JC, Sorry I let a whole day go past before commenting, helping a neighbor pick green beans. You truly are an inspiration, your knowledge, the things you build, the things you have done. I wonder how many people know what an accomplished artist you are, your style and subject matter are exactly what I enjoy the most. Heavenly Father has really blessed you with some remarkable talents. Your friend - Chris
I always enjoy your comments and this one is no different. You sound like a great guy and hopefully our paths will cross someday. Thank you for all your kind words. God Bless.
The refuge for the deer is one of our driving forces for buying the extra bit. I just knew that you were good with animals (your dog obviously loves you to death and even your chickens really seemed to like you) I'm really happy I found your channel because you even worry about your trees like we do. I wish you the very best in all you do as the world would be so much better with more people like you.
+Anne Anderson (Foxiepaws) Thank you for your kind words. I have a profound respect and adoration for wildlife but I also harvest some. It's all about balance. There's gotta be balance with giving and taking.
I wish I could give you back, All that I get out of watching your videos. I truly enjoy and appreciate your expressing your thoughts and feelings. Thank you Sir.
Really Really Beautiful!!! JC your vision on life is Incredible, it has pushed me to reevaluate what's important in my life and to start figuring out what is stagnant and I have begun to get rid of what I don't need!!! Thanks for the great videos and please keep posting as often as you can as I truly look forward to the next one, Kevin.
Hi Kevin, Funny you mentioned "stagnant" because I talked on that subject in this vid but deleted that footage. I try to keep the vids under 12 minutes so my rant on being stagnant will emerge in a future vid ha ha. Happy to hear my vids have encouraged folks into reevaluation. I will elaborate on this topic in another vid. I can speak volumes on the topic of life and finances. All the best my friend.
Your video's are always a pleasure to watch and this one is no exception. That is a beautiful area that you have created for yourself. There is no doubt in my mind that when you do sell and leave the homestead, you will frequently think of and miss this paradise of a home. Blessings to you Boss.
Thank you my friend. Yes it is nice and I have 2 deer in the marsh as I type this, but I can't really say I'd miss it. I have changed the landscape everywhere I've lived and then moved on without missing it. They're all just stepping stones. It's all about the climb I guess.
Can't beat living close to the land Boss. Thanks for the tour. You're right. A person really doesn't need many possessions to live happily. Great work and thanks for sharing.
Amazing how many people with so much i.e cell phones, big screen tv, 2 story house, pool ect could be so unhappy while guys like boss live very simply and feel 100% content and thankful for what they have. This is the America i want back!
Very nice. No neighbors, no noise, I could not imagine giving it up. Thank you for taking the time to produce this video. Standing by for your next update. Take care, be safe!
I wish it was the pretty picture you painted but... It's flat terrain here and sound travels far and wide. I don't have the quiet contentment that I should have with this much acreage. Aside from that, it's not a bad place to live.
I truly enjoy your videos. I would like to thank you for taking the time to put so much effort in what you do. You can see it in everything you do. I try to do the same. In a world where there's alway time to do it over and never time to do it right. You my friend could teach folks a few things. God Bless
I am amazed at your work, you sure have a great eye for designing your buildings. You have mastered so much in life, Good for you, l am in awe of your knowledge. Stay safe and healthy. Best Wishes from 🇨🇦 Canada👍✌️👏🙏
As always a top notch video. Your videos are now a family event at our house, the wife likes then and I think Bella like watching Frankie. LOL Beautiful place you have there. We have been ridding ourselves of "stuff " also. Feels good, stll got a way to go but getting there. Hope all is well. Regards
I would be lost if I couldn't look out the window to wildlife and wilderness. Thanks for you and Frankie giving us what we have lost and for reminding us of what we have. "The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness" - John Muir. He knew of what he spoke.
You are so right mate there is nothing like being surrounded by and living in the bush, its like you own private TV station, something different on everyday.
Judy here, JC you got the life I know I enjoy living out in the woods, 20 years ago we were the only ones here now we have a few cottage going up but it’s still nice. God bless
Just wanted to send a thanks for all your videos. At the tail end of a divorce. Looking forward to my new life, you my friend bring some really nice inspiration. Thanks again Snap.
Love the screen house! Will be building one of my own in the not too distant future. You've done a great job all around. Thanks for your backwoods logic. Will be sharing your wisdom with teens in time.
Nubbins, the scraps of wood you burn are called Nubbins around my neck of the woods. Myself, I would call your homestead Paradise. Thank you for sharing.
You've done well my friend. I really admire you. I'd have to have a hammock in that screen house - my Ellie loves swinging in my hammock with me - I bet Frankie would too! It's comforting to live in harmony with nature. That's something the yuppies and the anti's will never experience. They will never experience the peace and fulfillment that comes with living in harmony with nature, playing our role, taking what we need to survive and offering sanctuary and refuge so that the circle of life can continue. Enjoy the summer my friend - it's in the high 90's here with 80% humidity. Every summer I swear I'm going to start digging into the side of a mountain to stay cool.
Good to hear from you buddy. I wouldn't be able to handle the heat and humidity down there. I put broken ribs through my left lung a while back and the scar tissue doesn't allow that lung to expend like the other one. Humidity is tough on me. I do intend to come to Alabama this winter though. I'd really like to hook up with you when down there. All the best.
Releasing at half-century old has brought me more time, more cash and a less hectic lifestyle. Great idea JC, keep only that you use/occupy. Let the youngeons do the back-breaking work & the accumulating of stuff. Time for us to enjoy more & work smarter not harder. Much respect for you. Z. Thanks for sharing this vid. Once again, quality vid.
You are blessed with an advantage that few people really possess. Reenforcing your strong ambition is the fact that you knew exactly what you wanted to do at a very young age. Few people really have that. Everyone has dreams, but few are really so specific. I'm 40 and really had no idea for a long time what I wanted to do. I think a lot of people are like that and it leads to lack of focus. One of my dad's friends knew from a young age he wanted to be an auto mechanic and own his own garage. He owns one of the most successful garages in the city now. I'm not sure if that kind of focus can be taught. But it is great to see such a good example of it. This video is truly inspiring.
+gunjunky7520 I think it can be taught for sure. The problem is, most of us grow up being told we can't do this and can't do that and to stop dreaming. Our desires are often squashed by our parents and teachers and we're brainwashed into believing success is measured by wages. So most chase wages and not dreams. At the end of the road I prefer to look back and talk about the dreams I conquered rather than how much money I spent.
Thanks for sharing JC! Really enjoy your video on taking a separate path in life doing the mundane 40-50 hour work week to do what you want, when you want! Your my mentor! Keep up the great work with the videos!!!
Good morning Boss, such a great little spot to sit and enjoy your life. It is calming and reflective watching the deer here too. We had a little family of raccoon's living in a hole on the adjacent 5 acre's but they never gave me a moments problems. They kept the fallen oranges on the property cleaned up and gave me many days of quiet giggles watching the little ones roll and run around. I too am slowly ridding myself of all these things that I feel I'm tethered to. The decision wasn't hard to make, it's the letting go. What did Carlin have to say, we buy a box to put stuff in and then need a bigger box for more stuff. lol Life is easier when we are older not to have to babysit the stuff. lol Thanks for the tour, it's a bit of a dream place isn't it? Looks like a magazine cover really. ATB Louise
Boss, You have a great place there. The screen house looks like the ideal place to kick back and relax in. You may have to load it up and take it with you when you move to the cabin. HAVE A GREAT DAY, you made mine better with your vid of the home place. Ray
OK, Boss, I've went through and watched ever video and not missed one now. Seen them all twice. what a great collection. Ill b keeping and eye out for more. I know your a busy man, so have fun enjoy life and happy trapping. You the Man
I am not sure if I am more impressed by your lifestyle, your videos, or you view on life in general. This simpler back to basics lifestyle while keeping some modern convenience while not letting it rule your life is just great. I'm about your age but with three small kids and a wife that thrives on modern everything. I pray for your success and joy. Keep the videos coming. Recipes, handi work and Frankie.
Seezor Happy to hear you enjoy my postings. I do enjoy a few of the advances in technology, power tools, digital photography, SD cards, the internet and wireless communications, but I have little use for the rest of it. I can't stand all the electronics they put into vehicles and always have problems because of them. Except for some LED lights and my laptop, my NH cabin will be furnished like the 1930's. I'll wake up on Walton's mountain every morning. Life will be getting pretty interesting real soon here. Thanks for commenting.
Ha ha ha you hid the fly-swatter. NO BUGS . . .man! Awesome screen house, gives me another idea. I do love sitting out by a camp fire. I burn the anti bug candles, but they don't always do a good job.
I have stumbled across your videos and love them. I find your mood and cadence of your dialog very enjoyable. Like you, since my youth, I have loved the woods and the out doors. I'm about your age, as best I can tell. I have spent my entire adult life though out of the woods and out doors. I live in north Texas where the are no trees taller than shrubs. I miss the woods. I feel it in my bones. Especially now that I'm getting old... well, older. You have inspired me to seek out some wooded land and cabin to escape to. It will be difficult to obtain, but, I will do it and will enjoy my time off. Your words, life is what you make of it. I'm changing some things in my life, what's left of it anyway. God bless and thanks for the inspiration.
+Steven Ford I need forest around me and lots of it. My homestead has 124 acres and it's nice but I can't wait to sell out and move to my cabin where I'm surrounded by miles and miles of it. Follow your heart my friend. Run for the hills :-))
Beautiful homested, and propety. Lots of sweat and hard work went into it. And I understand wanting to clear house. Take you time, things will turn out with time. Thanks for posting this video. Nice to see more of your place.
Thanks Mike. One of these days I'll do a start to finish vid of this project. I need to find a way to convert my 8mm tape so that I can use my old footage. I started with a abandoned shack that was empty for 24 years. It was quite a site I'll tell ya.
Enjoyed the video, was glad to hear the Pileated Woodpecker in the background, my Dad always called them Wood Gods. I have one that nests in a huge living Sweetgum tree on the backside of my property. They are one of my favorite birds. Ok enough rambling on, keep the vids coming!!
I would never sell completely if I were you. You have a slice of heaven. I have woods behind my home and been fighting with my town about selling parts of it off. I have deer and a lot of other critters there. It would be tragic to deforest that area not to mention I love the solace. I'd feel like along if I were in your shoes Boss.
The homestead was nice but there's no solace there. My heart is in NH and NY is like wearing a shoe that's too small. It may look good and all that jazz but it's not a good fit for me. I'm where I belong now :-))
I have thoroughly enjoyed all of your videos..watching your simple but rewarding lifestyle is a great stress reliever..looking forward to future videos..best regards to you and Frankie.
Well , l have to be totally honest woith younhere and tell you I am absofreakinglutely jealous !!! Ha!! You have some goegeous property Boss, you've made it sparkle for sure! Thanks for sharing this with us! Peace to all...🦋💜🦋
Had throw back moment/videp. Very talented man, yes sir, smart too. Like how you mentioned where you would go next. As a Patreon I know the answer and am so enjoying that chapter as much as I did this one. All the best and stay safe.
