I truly believe that the majority of Americans are a paycheck away from either being homeless or hungry. I don't consider myself a hoarder of food but, I do stockpile. My mom did it while we were growing up and I guess I just carried on like she did. I'm not a doomsday prepper waiting on the zombie apocalypse. I'm a prepared prepper who prepares for the unexpected emergencies in life. One day, while coming home from work, a drunk driver hit me head on. I ended up on disability. Had I not had food stored up, I would have gone hungry. During the pandemic in 2020 my kids were unable to find certain things for their family. Things like toilet paper, sugar, flour and even some meats. Fortunately, they knew I stocked up on stuff for emergencies and I was able to give them what they needed. My dad taught me that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure and its better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. Especially if you are talking about food. I also do NOT show people my food. Back in 2020 when there were shortage everywhere, the news in the city next to me (I personally live in a very small town but get the news from Jacksonville) was telling us to be careful coming home from the grocery store. They said that people would follow folks home and then rob them. Not for their money or their car, but for the food they just bought. Hunger is a very powerful motivator and if someone, no matter who it might be, is truly hungry and knows you keep food and where it is, they might come looking for it. Just be careful I guess is what I'm saying. No matter who wins the election on November I really believe there will be some kind of fallout. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think so. Thanks for taking the time out of your busy day to share you time and knowledge with us and I look forward to the next video.

Never keep empty jars, always keep full even with just water, just a tip. My airfryer i got as a gift and its supposed to have a dehydrator mode. I have shelves in my spare room, extra pantry cupboards in my kitchen. I even have canned goods in my closet in my room. Its just me so foods i stocked up for emergency during Covid that is still good and kept for emergencies. My town was hit by a tornado 4/26/24 and we didnt have power for several days. My generator was being used to keep the freezers and fridge going. I have burger and deer canned. This year i am canning Muscovy. I keep my rice like that in the buckets with a Gama lid. Mind your humidity and temp when storing in the buckets to keep weeves and grain mites.

I have boxed and store bought food also. I have it put aside for people who may need it. I may not need it but someone else might.🤷‍♀️ It is cheaper to go that route when trying to help others. Neighbors..friends and some family. I have a very select few that might come to us if need be. I'm ready to help them also. You're feelings are correct. Somethings up and somethings coming. Keep going on being prepared. I feel the same way. Something my mom used to tell us when we were young..God helps those who help themselves. I feel that is very important because some are relying on God to do it all for them and I don't feel that will happen. We need to be ready for whatever comes. Some would say I fear monger but most see what is happening..especially with the economy and are doing what is needed so as not to be scared but to be ready. Have a very blessed day.❤

Glad to find a channel with only two in the family. I am 64 caring for my 93 year old dad and working full time. Yes I have the pantry full of store cans, grew up with prepping for weather and just in case the month outlasted the money. Due to my stroke and dad's health issues I am trying to do more home cooking as time allows- it may only be making chili using some grocery store food or making my own spaghetti sauce. Goal was for a garden but not able to do it on my own especially when all our rain came in two days and is so dry now. And I have had to become plant based, but dad eats some meat

Love your name by the way. It's rare that I find people with names close to mine... Jalene. I appreciated your video on preparedness... specifically your bravery in stepping out in faith that God was leading you to speak. It can be scary being honest about your perspective ... but when we understand that He is moving underneath all of that we are then faced with another matter altogether.... do we really trust Him, or do we let fear (of what others might say, for example) keep us from moving where He "highlights".... He often will give us the opportunity to step in faith where seems scary to step because His ways are not the ways of the world. Which means... if we are His mouthpiece ... then we are going to be asked to step up to some challenging things. He has given me so many times "to remember" that I trust Him. That usually gives me the gonads to follow His highlights rather than respond in fear. Every time it has led to such blessing!... Him bringing to my life something that helps with the next hardship.... It's truly been amazing. So keep following His highlights Jaylea! I mean... look at where it has led! people are interested in knowing more and that is fantastic. As a side note - A great resource for me has been CityPrepping here on RU-vid. He has a lot of guides already made... things to help people get prepared. I don't find it to be doom and gloom, frear-mongering type of channel, but rather an honest look at what's happening in the world and how it might shape strengthening preps - ie... droughts and hurricanes leading to failing crops has the likelihood of creating a food shortage... consider crops expected to be affected... can you plant some yourself.... what can you get backup stock of, even if only a little at a time... etc. Learning these things has helped my anxiety greatly.

I have a Generac generator that covers part of my home, which was one of the reasons I purchased this home. It has been a lifesaver especially during hurricane season. Recently my generator went out; had to get it serviced, which turned out to be a $1170.00 bill for a battery and main board replacement. One of which as a single parent, I really couldn't afford but had no other choice. Now the other part is the propane tank for the generator has to be filled and since that isn't federally regulated the pricing is all over the place, Years ago it was about $600.00 to fill the tank, Lord only knows how much it is now. Life has definitely been a struggle financially for me lately between household expenses, medical bills, etc. I have decided to also start a pepper pantry, but it will take time. Love all that you have talked about and explained. Thanks.

I believe that a lot of people panicked during Covid and bought shelf stable food that perhaps would not normally eat. Or as you are - we are now in a different phase of life, a health journey and won’t eat some of the stuff purchased during that time. I went through and donated what I could that was not expired to our local food bank. On the other hand, I have family members that are not on the same health journey and they are able to eat some of the processed food (not everyday) so slowly but surely we are trading it for organic, wholesome nutritional food. I figure that in a crunch any food is better than not being prepared and no food. I have on my list a food grain mill but in the meantime purchased a kitchen aid one (prime day) but I agree we all need a hand crank one. Thank you for sharing your insight. I will be putting on my list the food grade buckets from Azure as yesterday I could not find any at one of our local stores.

What is really scary now is all the recalls on everything. I have always had a garden and been canning for 20 plus years. Only recently started canning beef, chicken, and pork. As far as the not so healthy stuff I panic bought, I am slowly working through it along with much healthier choices I am now stocking.

I don't use the packets in them too much sodium but I do use them for a base just as you would spaghetti or any pasta noodles. I love using them to make a stove top tuna casserole which if you gather all the ingredients is a shelf stable meal. I do put all my shelf stable food in glass jars though.. I am OCD about bugs and rodents after working for a exterminating company and add Bay Leafs to everything pasta, grains, dry dog food everything I also use popcorn tins or cookie tins for things like saltines cake mixes even tortilla shells things that wouldn't fit that great in a glass jar ( I love Azure Standards half gallon jars) though any glass jar works I have been known to use pickle jars for storing pasta or beans in with Bay Leafs. @zaks4434
@zaks4434 Месяц назад
Off to a good start, but I wouldn't use the food dehydrator and growing seeds in the same space as storing your food goods. Due to the humidity you will get from the seed planting. and dehydrating. Dark, cool and dry for longer shelf life. Flour. I buy the regular size bag, and slide the bag it comes in, into a vacuum seal bag I make from the roll type, and vacuum seal it so it won't get the buggies, and protects it from moisture. These are my back ups, now the one I use from day to day. I don't use it all that often, but if it hits the fan. I do sugar, the same way, to add another layer or protection from moisture. If you want to keep that much light in the space, consider making curtains for the racks, to block the light getting to the food goods, that way you can keep the window light as is. This will also make things look a bit more tidy, as you fill up and need to add more racks.

Love it , could you possibly read passages from the Bible like prepper dawg does ? Any baking store or high volume restaurant has food grade buckets that are much cheaper

I do have 2 deep freezers but maintain a large enough supply of jars and propane, so if we lost electricity I could can the food.

I used 5 gallon buckets with twist lids like the ones in this video to store rice and we got bad weevil's in it! Rice was less than a year old. I was told this video explains how to keep weevil's out.... Other than the bucket I see no other suggestions?
@faithandarrowhomestead
@faithandarrowhomestead Месяц назад
Then your rice had weevils in it to begin with. They didn’t get in through the bucket. The solution to that is to first freeze your rice for a few days before transferring to your bucket.

If you do not utilize the prepackaged food, (Mac-cheese, ramen) why not donate this to a food bank? Bless someone. Keep on with your videos, you are spreading clean eating information. ☺️

Donate the food you r not using to a food bank or church instead of just looking at it.

@heidiwolfgang45 I'm 60+old. I've learned a long time ago not to purchase or grow food I don't consume, even in emergency situations. But if you did and realize you are not, let someone else benefit from it rather than dumping it.

I suggest become a master of 1 first. So say you want livestock, maybe start with a few chickens or whatever. I started with goats (don't recommend cause they require a lot lol) do that for a year or 2 than add a new critter. Same as your garden start small and plant only the things you like at first. So may e grow just 2 or 3 veggies.
