I guess one of my favourite things of [S] Rex Duodecim Angelus is how they managed to fit each troll with their part of the music, because this music is official, but it was never used in Homestuck, so it has each troll leitmotif. It's hard to notice in some characters like Tavros because his theme wasn't used either in the comic (his theme is called *dESPERADO ROCKET CHAIRS,* ) Also I love the little details like Karkat's symbol flashing between red and gray in the load screen, and Aradia's symbol flashing in blue and dark red, or their canon God Tier aspect's symbols in some parts (including Gamzee's rage symbol in one of the frames of his part and Karkat's blood aspect in the part he and Terezi do a combo) or how they represented Gamzee exactly like Karkat said, doing nothing during the whole battle, and then suddenly doing the most demage in one single fast hit, and Vriska being the one doing the last hit, also like Karkat said (And also little things like Eridan trying to kill Sollux twice during battle, first doubting being sooting Sollux or the Black King, and then trying to shoot him in this part 5:32 ) (Also it's curious how the leitmotifs of the Red Team trolls play individually while the ones of the Blue Team trolls play in couples uwu)
They fit in SO many little details in such a short amount of time. I didn't realize some of the leitmotifs, mostly because I've been avoiding the soundtrack until I finish the comic reading. But it's wonderful to know that so much diligence was put into this =)
i remember first hearing this song (rex duodecim angelus by malcolm brown) and thinking it would be so cool if it was ever used in a flash... and i remember when this animation team posted a preview of their progress while they were still working on it, and being so excited for when theyd finally finish... its such a great animation. the title btw means something like "the king and the 12 angels" in latin
it technically says "The king twelve angel" the accurate translation for "The king and the twelve angels" would be "Rex et duodecim angelis" because of declension stuff, but it's still pretty cool :D
Hey Thallion, Since you brought up "Vriska did nothing wrong" at the end there, I felt like writing down some thoughts on that, for those on the internet who misinterpret the statement, willfully or otherwise. Many take it to mean "Everything Vriska did was morally A-OK. Throwing Tavros off a cliff, mind-controlling Sollux to kill Aradia, creating Jack just to show off beating him, etc..." While it means something else entirely. It's actual meaning relates more to the society of Alternia and the expectations placed upon the trolls, especially considering blood caste. It was expected by Alternian society that Vriska kill those beneath her, that she scheme and steal and all that. And in the expectations of her society, she did nothing wrong. But as we can clearly see, it was still awful stuff. It's basically literary commentary on how a society can be set up to teach people growing up to be cruel and uncaring. And how, even if you act like that, as your society expects, you can still end up losing everything, or gaining nothing for your efforts. Such a person did nothing wrong, everything was done as expected. But that doesn't stop the people around them from forming their own judgement. When we find Vriska in act 5, she's pretty much been abandoned by everyone, because of exactly this reason. You can do what society teaches you to do, but that doesn't mean it's right, is pretty much the message. And then, y'know, comparisons can be made to people growing up in Western societies, arguably the main readership of Homestuck. Homestuck is **very** political when you look at it beyond surface level.
I definitely feel like I baited the Vriscourse at the end of the video, but I'm glad to see such thoughtful replies about it. Vriska is one of my favorite characters in Homestuck - not because I approve of what she does, but because her actions and motivations are extremely interesting to look into deeply.
I think this is best watched right after finishing act 5 act 1. You’ve just read about the troll’s backstory for hundreds of pages, and since the act ends with aradiabot talking about this very fight, it’s cool to actually watch it unfold. And it feels SUPER bittersweet.
I didn't notice until just now: right before Gamzee goes nuts, you see Terezi picking up a pie tin as the Mind symbol flashes on-screen. Immediately after, Gamzee gets hit on the head by a pie tin, presumably thrown by Terezi, loses it, and does his big attack. Terezi used her Seer of Mind powers to see what she should do and when to do it in order to get Gamzee to attack the king.
@@literalfandomtrashnoseriou1992 eh... Not judging honastly it's a great video, i just found it humorous that you uploaded this comment a day before everything blew up, i guess i did come up as kind of a jackass in my original comment, sorry about that, honastly i just hope that this entire thing blows over, and the community will go back to normal.
Well... Would you look at that, it's been two days and people have already forgotten about the current drama, it seems that my comment is the one that has aged like milk now.
I have watched this and cascade probably close to 50 times each at this point and every time, without fail always brings tears to my eyes because I love all these characters!
