Sully hangs with old time friend and legendary guitar god Nuno Bettencourt as they discuss the old days in Boston and Nuno's plans for his global concert.
I am new to this guy Nuno Bettencourt, gorgeous that he is his guitar playing is fantastic! Steve Perry mentioned him as a musician and I learned he was MORE THAN WORDS !! 🤘🎸🇵🇹
Saw Extreme for the first time August 14th 1991 opening for zztop in fact! And with all due respect to zztop, EXTREME blew them off the stage! It's a mons-tour!
Michael Espinosa, I also saw Extreme open for ZZ Top on the Recycler tour in 1991. They were so young and energetic on stage. It made ZZ Top look old and slow, and I’m a huge ZZ Top fan. Nuno, Paul, Gary, and Pat rock!!!!
"Throw your guitar in the wood chipper" that was exactly my thought when I heard Nuno play for the first time. Great interview Sully and stories, can't wait for Baz's interview.
You two make for a nice combination of talkers. Old friends, same profession, speak the same language, can't BS the other... I've noticed in other interview situations that Nuno often speaks over, or around, people's heads if he thinks they're not up to speed with what they're even talking about. None of that here. Good stuff!
Nuno has been my favorite guitar player for 25 years now. His non pretentious attitude here proves not only is he a great guitarist, but an exceptional human being!
Hello you there, I believe in me, I love life, I have many friends and hobbies, and I do. Them all, I'm 59 years old You know who I am and no man can stop me Dion Tillman, bring it!!!!
I liked the interview because of the stories you never get to hear etc but yeah I agree that Sully spoke over or at times wouldn't let Nuno answer as you can see Nuno began to start answering but was cut off several times. But it's great they know each other and are mutual friends so I'm sure it's fine. However, with other musician guests he may bring to the show that he may not know well I hope he tries to be more considerate for his guests and the potential fans who may be watching.
Hey Sully. . . Years back I was gambling next to one of your roadies at Mystic Lake Casino in MN. . . He said he had just gotten to town from Texas and you and him had gotten in trouble for doing burnouts on your bikes in whatever city it was you were in in Texas. . . He had on snakeskin boots. . . That's all I remember of him but you were coming to town for a gig from what he said.
Absolutely love listening to Nuno. Even his voice is musical! The man is a pure gold as a musician and totally dedicated to what he does. Passionate and sincere. Fantastic!
You said so well what I feel about him too. I love the 🌎concert idea. I hope it happens and the dream comes true & works to raise the consciousness of the people on 🌎. ☮️🌎💜🎼🎵🎭❤️🎵
I remember Nuno coming into our Music Theory class at HHS a few times for visits. That was during the Mourning Widows days. Good times! Feels like yesterday! 🤘😜
Gary Cherone was my gym teacher at Malden High School in 84. His mother was the original teacher, she had a stroke, then Gary subbed for the rest of the year.
Nuno is a GUITAR GOD!!! I have always thought that Extreme were such an underrated band. I still blast Extreme's music in my truck on the daily! I was fortunate enough to meet Godsmack in Phoenix. I ended up talking with Tony Rombola for a time and he and I spent quite a while talking about Nuno and his incredible talent. I would love to have Godsmack use Nuno on their recordings in the future or maybe Sully and Nuno can play on a future Sully solo album?!
I LOVE this show! Thanks, Sully for helping us through this crazy time with your positive outlook, hilarious stories, and awesome guests!! Loved seeing and hearing Nuno today!! You guys ROCK! ❤🎸🎶🤘👊
Nuno can talk about Music like anyone else. Passion is in his every word... I could listen to him talking for hours... if Sully didn't interrupt him every 2 minutes 🙃 And I laughed so much when he told the story with Sebastian Bach in the plane 🤣🤣
Ahhh. Memories. Dancing on stage with Godsmack many many years ago at The Compound... Nuno Bettencourt showing up at my friend Shawn Phillips house after hours in Lunenburg... 😂
When I saw Van Halen in 1979 they all got on Alex’s drumkit and played at the same time on the bridge of “Light Up The Sky”. Wonder if Nuno ever saw that.
Oh my God .. Light Up the Sky is a genius track .. I'm drinking Knob Creek Whiskey .. I play guitar, got a '92 Washburn N4 .. We should sit down and play ..
Fell in love, musically, with Nuno when he was with Extreme. I still have his solo album "Schizophrenia".... it's managed to survive 20ish yrs later. ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Eric Clapton, guys. By his own admission, EVH absorbed EC's licks from the Cream years like a sponge. And EC was in turn bringing to the magic trio all the blues phrasing and idioms he internalized and assimilated in the year he spent woodshedding while crashing in John Mayall's house. Mayall probably had the best private collection of blues albums in the UK at the time and EC was hungry to learn. EVH's innovations took EC's flair and tasteful touch of Chicago and Mississippi delta pedigree, and fused them with the flashy gimmicks and sound experiments of JiImmy Hendrix and Jimmy Page to spawn a generation of hard rock guitar players, like Nuno and many others.
Nuno was one of my biggest influences as a musician. I was given the Pornograffitti album as a gift and my mind was blown. Totally changed how I looked at the guitar. More than just leads/scales but percussive, attack and a new level of funk. 3 Sides is a fucking masterpiece every guitarist should learn to play by ear - train you ears kids. Great interview, great guys.
You said so well what I feel about him too. I love the 🌎concert idea. I hope it happens and the dream comes true & works to raise the consciousness of the people on 🌎. ☮️🌎💜🎼🎵🎭❤️🎵
Nuno’s solo on get the funk out was as important to me to learn as was eruption. Amazing guitar player , as was Eddie his rhythm was not given enough attention to his amazing soloing .
The mainstream world values accolades and monetary landmark sales etc., but Extreme and Nuno are proof that often times true quality is overlooked due to frivolous, shallow ideas of what “success” is. Nuno and the members of Extreme SHOULD be very rich and lauded for simply being as awesome as they are at what they do
Yalls friendship is awesome. Seem like great connection!! And i wanna put this out their id give up my right foot(at least) to get in between these two beautiful drummers while they battle it out!!!
