Back in 1999 when other kids were making Lego Star Wars models, I was busy making my own Lego Homeworld ships. 22 years later I am still very much in love with some of the designs. In hot anticipation for Homeworld 3, I thought I might share a glimpse into the art style & attack animations of Homeworld's OG faction ships for those unfamiliar with the series. I will do videos for the Hiigaran, Vagyr, Taidan & Kushan as well as Deserts of Kharak vehicles.

Deserts of Kharak just has so many unique designs that fit Kharak's environment perfectly. Love them all, thank you for this.

Absolutely! My favorite designs are the Coalition Baserunner, Soban Railgun, the Khaaneph Siege Cruiser, & the Khaaneph carrier. All of them are really well done though. Stand by for additional videos of the other 3 factions.

Carriers from strongest (in combat mainly) to weakest is 1. Coalition, best main weapon (VLS missiles), arguably best secondary weapons (CIWS guns, very accurate and high rate of fire when maxed, also a lot of them), can repair, also better armor than Gaalsien variants. Also don't forget about the nuke, easy to dodge, sure but it will ruin your opponent's day if it hits. 2. Gaalsien, doesn't have VLS missiles but compensates with very powerful secondary guns and combined with increased speed makes it more flexible in combat if you have enough power. Instead of a nuke you have a mini-nuke salvo which is even easier to dodge but will ruin your opponent's day if most of them hit. 3. Soban, Railguns aren't as powerful or consistent as the CIWS guns but does have better range and damage against armored targets. You also have armed logistic modules which allows you to turtle or even pincer enemies because of its launch range, and with maxed power can easily stun lock targets before killing them. Also microwave emitter which is great at denying opponent economy or area denial. 4. Khaaneph, overall a weaker version of Gaalsien carrier in terms of weaponry, and is more support / economy oriented with the mobility support field.

I find it funny how the land based spinoff does aircraft better than the space based mainline. The way they actively show them landing and taking off is just epic

Heh 😏 Even after all these past years, I'm still looking for a way to replace either the Command Carrier KAPISI or the SP BattleCruiser with the SOBAN variant; look at those railgun-powered cannons ?!?!

Yeah, I've heard that from a few longtime fans and felt similarly the first time I played it. For me I think the gameplay just felt more simplistic. Still love the art direction, music & plot.
