This strikes at the heart of the matter. I don't have a problem with people that believe in a higher power that created everything and believe that we continue to exist in some form or another after death. But they need to recognize that the arguments they present for their belief are fallacious. Every single one of them is and always will be fallacious. You cannot make a claim, "There is a supernatural creator God", without providing evidence for your claim. And no, you can't use what is written in the Bible to claim that what is written in the Bible is true. If I ask "How do you know that what is written in the Bible is true?", you can't answer "Because it's written in the Bible that what's written is true". That's beyond childish.
@Temulon I completely agree. I am a Christian myself, and I won't sit there and tell someone - "There is a God!!" - because I don't have hard proof that there is any type of divine creator. Christianity is a *faith* based religion. That being said, when science contradicts what is in the Bible, I will obviously side with science on the matter because, to me, if the Christian God did create the universe, then they must have created science as well.
@@FriendofFantasy You said Christianity is a faith based religion, but all religions are faith based. There are no religions that are rooted in science with irrefutable evidence backing their claims. About contradictions, if the Bible is supposed to be a owners manual for correct living and directly inspired by God, shouldn't it be free from errors and superfluous information? It just seems to me that if a book was so important for God to want humans to have it would have been written better.
@@Temulon the sort of argument, and now i will put it very vaguely and to the point, so the sort of argument that claims well, i would love to see a swish watch to naturally appear in the wild, and thats like 10 to the power of 100s less complex then any form of life, is quite a strong argument for a, lets call it, intelligence created universe.
@@larryn4219 It isn't a strong argument. There are three main points of criticism against the Watchmaker analogy: 1. Complexity does not necessarily require a designer; it can also come from mindless natural processes. David Hume gives the examples of a snowflake, and of the generation of crystals. These are mentioned in his works "Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion" and "An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding". Other people have mentioned the Infinite monkey theorem. 2. The watch is a bad analogy. 3. The watchmaker is more complex than the watch. If complexity proves intelligent design, then the question arises who designed such a complex watchmaker.

It's just wilfully ignorant bigotry all the way down...
Try explaining that you're transgender and NO, that doesn't mean I'm a transvestite (or like Dr Frankenfuter) also NO, being transgender is nothing to do with whether you're gay or not! Oh (pick your favourite deity as an expletive)!😠The best one was saying that (in all honesty) "I don't know if I'm gay, straight, bisexual or asexual these days!" Explanation: As I child I KNEW I was a girl - I just had a problem with my body between my legs. When I became a teen I wondered "Should I go out with a girl" but then thought "but I AM a girl - would that make me a lesbian and to be honest, does that matter?". I then thought "Well I'll go out with a boy" and then looked between my legs and quite frankly gave up at that point!

Too bad he's so into Christian believes.
No kidding! I thought he would catch on to the style & setup of the video he was responding to eventually and figure it out but, wow. It’s like he genuinely thought _she_ was asking these questions lol.
I think he understood she was joking, but was pissed about that. Like that she was joking about something that to him is no laughing matter. So he tried to answer the questions genuinely.
I think my favorite part is how he sighs deeply, rolls his eyes and then proceeds to condescendingly correct Emma on the truth about demons, angels, ghosts and other fictional characters. He’s so exasperated to have to explain these obvious things that are strongly supported by feelings, ignorance and ancient books of mythology.
Don't forget to add in "I'll also 'correct her' on points I might agree with but definitely, as the alpha male christian, cannot be seen agreeing with"
the “I love them but I hate their lifestyle” is something that I generally hear from people trying hold their anti-LGBTQ+ perspective while still maintaining a relationship with people in the community. It’s frustrating because they try to come across as tolerant and loving, but it doesn’t work.
When bigots say things akin to "I don't hate [LGBT/minorities/ect.]" then follow up with something that clearly expresses hate, what they mean can be summed up in two ways: "I don't hate gay people I hate it when gay people don't pretend to be straight people." and "I'm not racist I don't hate black people, I just hate it when they want to be considered equal to white people."
@@tims.2717 Not necessarily. I repeated the same talking points for decades, but it was all internalized self-hatred. I didn't know what being queer actually meant, having been raised from childhood to believe that it's inherently immoral (for no rational reason), and ALWAYS involves or leads to some sort of predatory abuse. Being a shy, sensitive, trans-girl egg, of course I didn't want to get abused and dehumanized in wild orgies, and that hostile caricature was the only representation of queer culture that I'd been exposed to. I also grew up in a town of 600 people, and went into the military (during "don't ask, don't tell") after high school, so was being actively propagandized and officially discouraged by my employer, the US government, from associating with queer people at all IRL, which could have helped expose my hypocrisy and cognitive dissonance. So, queer-phobic Christians definitely are lying to themselves. Their own doctrine teaches that every sin can be purified by Love, but they twist that into legalistic strictures (eg, telling kids to get married before having sex, instead of teaching them to value consent and natural human diversity of behavior and desire).
God creates Eve from Adams rib, which makes Eve genetically male, then got ticked off because Eve wouldn't stop smashing her sons to create the rest of human life on Earth ... Even though I believe in a God, my brother is worried I’m going to hell since I’m not a Christian. I have no problem with his beliefs, and I know he speaks from love. Actually, I don’t have a problem with most religions as long as they’re not used to promote hate. I don’t have a problem with atheists either and my own personal take is God doesn’t demand belief in It and God doesn’t judge us on whether we believe in It or not. What a narcissistic god that would be that demands worship. Seems a lot of religion, especially Christianity is based on an anthropomorphic idea of God. As a gay guy who knew he was gay from a very young age (inkling at four, certain at seven), I love these, "I don't hate the sinner: I hate the sin." My response, "When it comes to Christianity, I don't hate the stupid: I hate the stupidity." Homosexuality is not a "lifestyle choice," nor can one be "groomed" into it. You know what is both a lifestyle choice and something that someone is often groomed into? Christianity. These people take life way TF too seriously. Get a prescription for alprazolam already, peeps. Life should be fun and rewarding, and not a sad and miserable exercise in judgment.
When I hear people say homosexuality is a choice, I always respond, “Oh, so you could choose to be gay today and be perfectly happy with that decision.”
One theory I’ve seen a lot of people talk about that I think seems very possible is that those who say sexuality is a choice are actually bisexuals with internalized homophobia. They think it’s a choice because they themselves chose not to act on their same sex attraction and only act on their opposite sex attraction and now they think all people can choose who they’re attracted to.
“Lifestyle” is a stupid-ass word anyway, in every context. I don’t have a “lifestyle,” I just have a life. Normal people of any gender or sexual orientation or whatever are just living their lives. “Lifestyles” are for rich or otherwise privileged people who are putting on a show for other people they want to impress, or want to distinguish themselves as better than.
And regarding 'lifestyles,' the one people like Mr fun police in the video propose is one where you're expected to live your life as a punishment for a legendary noncrime that happened so far back that you wouldn't have been so much as a glancing thought at the time. It's a miserable excuse of a life that you have to be groomed to think is any way to live, that or break a number of rules just so you have some sliver of joy in life. That's not actually true. Whether the Eucharist prayer literally physically changes the bread and wine into the flesh and blood of Christ as it's being consumed, or if it's just a symbol of his sacrifice, is something that has massively divided Christian theology for hundreds of years.
Catholic doctrine has it that the eucharist is literally the body and blood of Jesus. I guess Jesus must have weighed about 100,000 tons, there's been so much of it consumed up to this point. I wonder if they're about to run out of him? Then they'll really be f**ked.

I'd argue with that. Sometimes people say really hateful things about (mostly) minorities and try to pass it off as harmless jokes. B) this asshole is so theologically far from me that I see more of myself in you than in him and you don't even think theology is a thing worth doing (my conception of God is abstract enough that gatekeeper Christians like this dude who are so certain they have all the answers have decided I'm an atheist; I guess if y'all wanna claim me I won't argue but I still literally worship Christ), and C) your thought that it would be a lot more useful for him to talk to, eg, Catholics about transubstantiation so that those of us who can agree with neither can learn from their perspectives; he could make a much more interesting channel if he did that. (If you want a really good channel where a Christian respectfully talks about Christian perspectives other than his own, "Ready to Harvest" is really good.)

"Love your neighbor as yourself" is how we "love God" in practice. 1 Jn 4:20 "Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen."
i was laughing so hard, and then I was puzzling over the cobbled together belief system he was creating on the spot. Like it truly just seems like someone saying any old shit because he believes anything that comes out of his own mouth.
Watching a grown-arse man look very seriously into the camera and state "vampires. are. not. real. m'kay?" in that totally deadpan tone had me giggling uncontrollably. So very very silly.
When I'm at work, I love sneaking an earbud into my ear and hiding it with my hair so I can listen to the sorta content you make. Please keep making content like it, it's great to listen to while working. Subbed :)
I had to actually look this guy up. I couldn't resist. I'll respect the sentiment of not putting any channel names out there. With that said, this dude is a certified fruit and nut cake. He has a "Commenting on Comments" series, but since his videos have next to no comments, he instead comments on the comments left on other people's videos. I'm almost tempted to watch his actual video game content, if for no other reason than morbid curiosity. Unfortunately, and this is just my mean moment, he has a face for radio and a voice for silent films.
He was surprisingly easy to find and yea, looks kinda pathetic. I'll respect Emma's wishes as well but it's not like it takes a detective to find him if people wanted.
when christians tell me they hate my sins but not me i get so annoyed. like it is so obv an attempt to have their cake and eat it too. i immediately deem anyone who says that shit about queer folk as inherrently selfish and incapable of caring for the wellbeing of their friends, and i've literally never once been wrong about that. someone saying "love the sinner hate the sin" is a massive red flag
It's because they clearly see queers as sinners, which on their view are lower than not-sinners, less deserving of heaven as long as there isn't regret. It's impossible to "hate the sin but not the sinner" without looking down on the sinner, and that's why it is feels so bad to hear it. It's just so patronizing.
Right? They want to indulge their hatred and prejudices while also pretending they're the empathetic and compassionate people that their religion tells them to be.
When I need to do some high IQ research on ghosts, I like to watch a team of frat boys go into a spooky building with some broken electronics to yell into the dark until they scare the shit out of themselves.
This is sort of weirdly fascinating because I feel like most of the time, when men make a show of "debating" or "debunking" a woman who is very clearly making a joke, it's done in bad faith because all they really want to do is performatively act like women are nonsensical and stupid. This guy really seems to genuinely think he's adding important context and clarification to the discussion. The severity with which he talks about vampires not being real feels like he is really seriously worried about there being people who don't know that.
41:54 "in what universe words dimension and vibration equivalent"? That is a fascinating question actually. Like obviously those are two different things. But they are connected in a way. Basically if we only perceive some dimensions, we would be unable to distinguish between a thing that is stationary, or vibrating in a dimension we don't perceive. And this is where those terms got conflated as "vibration in invisible dimension = invisible vibration". And from there you have the chain of people who don't fully grasp what they are saying repeat fancy words and you arrive at equivication between a dimension and vibrations that happen within those dimensions.
I forgot 🤦 Lesbians can't be funny! What was I thinking when I laughed at all those jokes you made? Wait wait wait, she's Bi, we're in the clear everbody, it was just a drill, a really dangerous annoying drill being handled by a child, but still just a drill. However all the Lesbians may as well start cracking jokes, for research purposes 🤷
Loved a couple things here. First his constant use of “mmm’kay” made me picture him as a South Park character. Second, the fact he spent so much time talking about how “the blood of Christ is symbolic” (which obviously) but also why doesn’t the “everything in the Bible is literal” apply to the blood then??? Love and solidarity to y’all ❤
Yeah... I grew up Baptist, and they're super hardcore about translating the word "baptize" in accordance with historical practice of the first century AD (as if we can even be sure of what that was, esp. since they reject the authority of the Orthodox / Catholic teachings that were recorded in surviving texts and passed down as living tradition since those very days), but they're strangely lax about whether "wine" can be redefined to include unfermented grape juice.
The more I watch this, the more I get the feeling that Russ actually likes you on a personal level, even if he knows he shouldn't and that he really just wish he could speak with you... so he does.
oh no... I can see it, just a little bit He's also got a tiny bit of that "please let me infodump, I want to feel the joy of sharing information" pizazz, hence the trying to explain stuff extra, even when he agrees with Emma on something
Why is it always these kinds of people look absolutely miserable, whilst people like yourself are always cheerful and spread joy and even look fun? I think that speaks volumes on the kinds of nonsense they're peddling.
C’mon Emma, how long have you been on the internet? Don’t you know that people with short hair must be either men, or lesbians, or Halle Berry? Every time I cut my hair short my gender and sexuality change on the spot. People start calling me bro (then saying they call everyone bro, even when they don’t), and I suddenly stop being married, and start dating women. I’ve decided I’m going to throw a + on random things, now+
I've seen the pink plushie on another channel. Knowing that somewhere, it's making someone's eye twitch and reach for the keyboard makes me smile. I've found so many channels recently that are making ultra-religious Americans upset and spending hours of their life arguing in bad faith with facts and science or just condemning people for not adhering to their view of the world. It makes me glad we have the freedom to believe whatever way we want. Love the videos I've seen of yours.
My favourite piece of christian iconography from my youth was the point in time that I realized that every pair of lions I had ever seen boarding the Ark both had a full mane. Such great representation for gay lion bros!
@@luxghactually, that makes sense... never thought about it before but according to the "not judging you but you're going to hell" people those wouldn't be two males... you just made the accidental allies seem as terfs (which they probably were anyway) but made sense of their sheer stupidity in a whole new level...
His handling of her video screams autism to me, as someone who is autistic myself. His lack of understanding of comedic nuance and the fact that he takes everything so literally just screams autism to me.
It seems your Christian American bestie Russ is a little obsessed with you, doing an Emma Thorne series and all. You should wear this as a badge of honor.
As a Christian, I think you are a kind and respectful person. Can’t understand why anyone would give you any hate. Keep on being the bear you can be! ✝️☮️
