Hello, I have seen your videos, but I need help, I am repairing a 1986 big red motorcycle and I need the main harness, do you think you can get it and send it to Mexico
I’m looking to get one now myself I want a good looking bike. but the frame I’m hearing is hit or miss. What do u think I should look for when buying one? I mean what’s the week points that should be checked first? Thanks
The 250 is a tough machine and is hard to find complete with all panels and keys! I’ve never come across one with a bad frame yet! Rear carrier bearings are a bit of a pain to replace if it’s wore out! But usually it’s the timing chain and guides that need replacement! Good luck 🤞
where do the top 5/8 hose go for vent. One hose goes from crank case then has a T, lower hose goes down to vent . Top hose goes up behind carburetor then comes out under frame below front part of seat. I can smell gas fumes from it while its running. Does this top hose go somewhere? Fumes are stinking up my garage Thanks
I’m sorry not sure if I’m able to help here it’s hard to explain when not in front of me! Do a google image of a big red carburetor diagram that should help you with the hose routing! Good luck 🤞
Hey man, I just wanted to give a huge thanks for uploading the vids! I just became a honda big red owner a few weeks ago but the electric start wouldn’t budge. I got a new battery and new starter for good measure, and after watching your video and following exactly what you did I was able to get her going great again! Ended up being a very busted battery 20 amp fuse and a very corroded starter button spring and copper caps just like yours. Updated the battery fuse wiring to use mini fuses instead of the older thin metal fuses and polishing off the starter button components along with all the other power & ground contact points and worked out extremely well. I appreciate you posting such a great and insightful video, it gave me the confidence tackle my own bike’s electrical system (I know nothing about electrical lol) and helped me figure it out when I got stuck along the way! Hope to see more great vids man! Greeting from Texas ole son!
Wow thanks so much for the comment! It’s stuff just like this is why I started doing videos in the first place ! Thanks so much ! And congratulations on the mighty big red 💪
My big red ties starting with the key off as soon as I connect a battery. Other than that it works awesome and functions properly. Any ideas what the problem is?
1986 big red 250, replaced battery, electric start has nothing. No clicking no anything. Headlight n neutral light turn on after the machine runs awhile when i use kick starter. Headlights do not turn on with new battery unless machine is running for some time
Rod Guide Fishing did you try shorting out the solenoid to see if the starter turns over? As far as headlight and neutral light those run off the stator, do the trike still have a key ?
Yes the key turns on it seems n the run switch. I can start the machine fine one kick and starts.. i put a screwdriver on the solenoid, no spark or turn over. Postive on battery works cause when i tightend screw with driver it sparked a little lol. The headlight i want to work all the time because i do night riding alot. I checked the main 2 fuses 20 amps next to batter under seat
Rod Guide Fishing congratulations on your purchase. if you watch my Big Red progress video it should help you do some trouble shooting. Try using power from a different battery like I did in that video just in case there is a contact issue between your battery and trike!
