Hi Owen. I have one of these, it came with my new old sailing boat. I took it for a service but i xouldnt afford for them to do the bits that needed done so i have done the repairs/ replacements and service. Im having a hellova time getting the gear selectors sorted. I seem to only have n and f. I cant get reverse. Ive taken it apart several times,.i have tried to adjust length of selector rod by threading it onto the bit, i dont kow its name that drops down from the selector. I didnt actually take that bit apart but fromnother vids ive seen i shouldnt have to do that. Im stuck. I dont know if you can help me? Ive never looked at an outboard before and always have mixdx resulys when attempting any sort of spannering. Always keen to give it a try but this is doing my head in!!
Hi. I’d probably be tempted to take the gearbox off completely, then see if you can select forward, reverse and neutral with it off by pushing and pulling the selector rod. That way you’ll be able to see if it’s the linkage or the gearbox itself that’s at fault, plus you can change the impeller at the same time.
I have this motor as well, the pill string snapped and I had to replace it. Seems like I have everything backwards somehow, when I pull the string it’s spinning clockwise. The teeth that come out and grab the flywheel won’t engage when I tried putting to pull in the counter clockwise direction. I see your motor is spinning CC, would you mind make a video of the flywheel pull string configuration. I have something wrong, but after several attempts, I can’t figure the correct way. Any help would be appreciated!
