If you had used the Oxford Touring Grips rather than the Adventure grips you would not have had to trim them down. CB500X OEM Grips are 120mm long. Exact size of the Oxford Touring Grip.

I did heated grips for my cb500f. I learned that they are great, however only heat up my palms. Even with the best gloves I could find (non heated) it wasn't warm enough. My fingers were always cold regardless. My 3rd bike is a 22 CB1000R and I've opted to try heated gloves and handguards for the colder months. This way I can keep the bike in pristine condition. BTW loved the tip about not removing the screw, I didn't know that and stripped both getting them out. Cheers from Calgary.

Most useful part for me was how to get that bar end/weight jobbie out. Thanks!

Just to raise everyone's attention, I had the same grips on my tenere 660 for many years. I always had a problem with draining my battery after a few days without using the bike. When I decided to remove them before selling it, I noticed I did not have any battery problems. I recently installed the grips on my new cb500x and I used the cable used for the 12v power socket. After a search on the internet I found out that despite the battery protection module that oxford has, it still draws a very small amount of power. That is why I decided not to connected directly to the battery. Also for your information, oxford grips melt after a while and need replacement. You can buy the same kit again as the replacement grips cost the same price as the kit.

I've had the Oxford grips for over a year now with no problems whatsoever

i installed the OF 691 on wife`s BMW F650CS cca 8 years ago, she rides apx 2500km yearly with cca 25% usage of heated grips. Never had a problem either with battery or wear. She has a Motobatt battery in the bike, connected normally via fuse (as came pwith package)

Excellent video and well explained, was convinced I was going to get the Oxford until I saw the control block mounted by the dash, looks like I’m going to have to pay shed loads for the Honda OEM 😢

Have a look at Oxford hotgrips pro, they have an integrated controller. Also ultimateaddons do a good set too but I have the Oxford pro

I am doing this job soon. I will use the switched accessory plug under the seat due to comments about the controller's parasitic current draw. Also thinking of buying a cheap throttle tube to avoid butchering the original tube and grip.

Just a tip that if you'd bought the Touring instead of the Adventure model no trimming necessary

Thanks Martin! That’s a great tip. I personally really like how the Adventure grip waffle pattern feels on my fingertips, but that’s just a funny personal preference that I have 😂.

If somebody press the button while cb500x is parked on street it will work and drain battery?

Quick note if you have a 2022 500F. Loosen the screw on the end of the handle bar and take off the end cap, then cut the original grips off.

The bar ends can be easily removed by using an impact driver on the screws. Please don't hammer them out. Thanks for the video.

Great video! Question, have you ridden your friends CB500x and if so how does it compare to your KTM 390 Adventure? I have a 2021 CB500x and I'm thinking of trading it in for a KTM 390 adventure. Your thoughts on the matter would be much appreciated.

Thanks, excellent installation review. Especially as I own the same bike. Are the heated grips on your friends CB500X still working well 2.5 years later?

The throttler side didn't look like the grip was pushed all the way in. Was there no way to get the grip pushed over the plastic flange? It didn't look like the flange was ground down completely.
@nathanaelhewitt7839
@nathanaelhewitt7839 Год назад
Hi Vernster. If I remember correctly, we ground the flange down and pushed the grip as far as we wanted without it rubbing on the body of the throttle mechanism. So yes, I think you can push it on as far as you want 👍.

hoe well did the glue on the clutch side hold? I'm having heaps of trouble getting that one to stick to the alloy bar using the superglue.

Hey Kent. I had the same problem. I ended up using Gorilla Glue and that worked brilliantly. The stuff Oxford supplies has come loose on two bikes I tried it on (sorry for the late reply).
