My Review of the CB500x I broke it into two parts (too long otherwise).
First part is the first Kms and twisties!
Second part has a nice conclusion to the review, and some riding in-town.
Bike was a graciously loaned testdrive from linhaway (www.linhaway.pt). Wanna see me on a KTM RC390? Vote here!

This bike is amazing, i currently own one. The performance is very nice in addition no matter the fact that is an entry level motorcycle. It actually stood up to BMW's GS series (from 1200 to 650's within the group) with no problem. If by any chance you'd like one, you'll not regret at all.

"Ok. This is dangerous. And enough!" I was watching your review this morning but didn't get to the end of it before I had to go out and drop my youngest off with his mother. I then carried on for another 50 miles to a bike dealer in Manchester, and within 15 minutes had signed on the dotted line for a brand new CB500X, in white. I hadn't reached your "And enough" bit by then. I am so looking forward to this bike!

O8 ride Bought mine July of last year after watching this video and love it. Won't be trading it in anytime soon. Almost 8,000 miles on mine - and that's only because I have 2 bikes that I ride or it would be higher.

Excellent and quite comprehensive, better than almost any other review I've seen by anyone. Would like it better without some words though. I especially liked the comparison between the 500 and the 700 as I can't decide between the two. Great job!

Rented this bike yesterday in Chiang Mai Thailand for a day. It's a great bike. I'm a novice and was feeling some trepidation but after 10 minutes on the bike it felt very comfortable and easy to operate. I want one! 'Fuck the fuel' Hilarious!

Thanks Cager great video. Portugal looks like a beautiful place to live. Was worried your video would be long and boring. No chance, instead it was very informative and entertaining. Even if a person doesn't want a bike, this video is worth watching just for the scenery and hearing Cager's take on things.

Great review. I'm in the US and love the new Honda CB500 series. I lean toward the F's styling, but the X and R are both very cool. Your microphone seems great, it was very easy to understand you, even at speed! Nice job.

Outstanding review. Love your casual conversational style. You speak clearly and actually enunciate your words which makes it fairly easy to understand you. Seems that's asking for a lot nowadays on RU-vid. Anyways, will pass on the CB500X after watching this review. I was actually debating between the NC700X and this bike. Seems like this bike is more suited for city riding at lower speeds. Thanks for posting this. Will check to see if you (hopefully) reviewed your NC700X.

I think it was a good comparison for torque between the two engines. If youwarched the whole video you would notice that he dropped a gear and found the power band which agreed what is necessary to get these smaller engines going.

My first MC was / is an 1100 Spirit (55 hp)...A rider safety course and a bit of parking lot riding to get familiar and create "muscle memory" at 200 lbs you need and will enjoy the extra power. I am 6'-2" 265 lbs...imagine me on a 250. It probably would have screwed up my desire to ride. I ride as often as I can and enjoy every minute.

Really enjoyed this; very nice review...you are very easy to understand. I was wondering how it performs on the corners and if it would be easier for me on corners, too. I agree that the amber / yellow gauge window is not that great. Now, on to part 2. Thanks so much for doing this.

A litre sport bike is a lot to handle. Not really necessary for everyday riding unless you have a need for speed. My bike is a Cruizer. Top speed around 105 MPH which I never go but gives me the acceleration I need for freeway travel.

If I walked into a dealer and they wanted me to look at a liter bike all you would hear is me saying NOPE and leaving. I feel like I would have the respect to not kill myself but mistakes do happen. The hard part for me is trying to get a good compromise of ease of learning and decent power. Where I live if you want to go anywhere you have to take the interstate and I also want that get-out-of-trouble capability at cruising speeds.

Thank you for the only detailed ride and commentary on the internet for this bike haha. I was 100% set on the V Strom 650 ABS, then this came out . . . I love that it is lighter, more economical, etc. I have one question for you. If you have ridden the Strom and similar bikes, how is the footing position in comparison. My one worry is that they didn't move the peg forward on the X model and I have bad hip/knees/back so I'm curious what your opinion is. Thanks so much, brother.

I'm 5'11" and about 250lbs, not so different than yourself. I ride a Ninja 250- there's no way you're going to have a problem on the 500's. Best thing to do is to just sit on one or get a chance to test drive it, I'm sure you'll be just fine. Do you have something now?

I'm still going to sit on a bunch of bikes but I think you just made my decision. I was going to go for the yzf600r but I am intimidated as I have never rode before. I won't go for a 250 because not only am I a big guy (5'11 200lbs) but I can't afford to throw money at a bike that I'm going to sell a year later.

the torque of cb500x is in 7000rpm, so if you start to accelerate at 4000rpm you will not feel anything (is a very diferent engine, isn't like your nc), to advance a car you should down a gear and staying at 6000rpm more or less before pass the car. To do a review, please research before.

Any suggestions on buying a CB500X or NC700X ???
@Driftuner
@Driftuner 10 лет назад
for the very small price differece, i would go with the 700..more torque, bigger front brake caliper with combined ABS (features NOT present in the 750X model), big storage in the "tank", better ergonomics, better gearbox, better fit and finish, even tho it weights more it has a lower center of gravity, will take 2 riders on it better then the CB, will probably last longer due to its bigger engine (subjective, i know), looks better IMO, better suspensions adjustment, and the price difference is ridiculously small..
@barebarekun161
@barebarekun161 10 лет назад
Driftuner My case was different we got hit hard with anything we imported so NC700X or now NC750X got 150,000 baht over CB500X which is ridiculous,for that money I can just get CB500X and CRF250L for the price of NC700X! The biggest advantage of CB500 series was that it made in Thailand so little to no tax fees,I would love to get NC750X but that price difference is just not sensible,if have a money to burn...but CB500X is ain't slouch either The incredible value it gives cannot be overlooked!

compared to CB500F, you seem more excited with the X. I'm more leaning against the F, but i don't know, something about the X appeals (i just don't know what). Currently have issue with insurance quotes, so there's a chance I might have to stick with CB(R)300R/F. I wouldn't mind as long as I have a bike but 500 is most appealing....

I have a question. I heard CB500F has about 1 inch shorter seat height than 500X. Did you feel the height different between X and F? I am a little bit of shorter height. Since, 500X is not considered hard core adventure bike, can I just get a custom windshield on CB500F for long distance/mini adventuring bike. Thanks.
