The 650R was not meant to replace the 600RR, it clearly doesn't have the performance, technology and equipment of the 600RR. This bike was meant to be an economic, comfortable and easy to ride bike with the looks of a supersport
What the owners of these middleweight bikes should do first before they even leave the dealership is replace the stock tyres with Michelin Pilot Roads.
1000% Agree !!!!!!!! To be even MORE SPECIFIC, they should replace them with Michelin Pilot Road 4 GT Touring Radial Tire - 180/55R17 73W. MUCH BETTER than the stock tires, AND they run sticky from temps of 23 - 114 degrees (Fahrenheit) !! Hard rubber in the middle, softer on the edges, makes cornering and leaning VERY safe and confident. The stock Dunlop's are a joke (and should be illegal) compared to the Michelins..
This seems to be a "sports bike for the road", a modern, improved version of the 90s CBRs. In the mid-late 00s the 600 class became a bit too racey. High revs and track focused. This seems a bike that more people could enjoy for longer periods of time on the roads... the real Sunday morning headbangers still have the litre class options if they're really that serious about massive power.

As a fz6 fan(can't even think of buying something more expensive than the fazer) this seems great. Best of both worlds I would say. Fast,agile,tall clip ons,wind protection.Perfect in my eyes.Would have to see some more thorough reviews though,cause this one didn't cover brakes or torque at all.
Just saw this bike in the flesh (metal?) at the London Motorcycle Show. I was impressed. I really liked the look of it - obviously looks are completely subjective but I thought it looked really good. Had a sit on it and agree with reviewer that the position is not overly aggressive. Hard to judge how comfy it will be on a long trip/commute but my initial impressions were that it would be pretty good. Seat felt plush enough and my knees weren't cramped (I'm 1.84m (6ft) tall). New LCD speed is a HUGE leap forward over the one that the 2018 CBR650F had - thank goodness! Mirrors looked like they were well positioned as well. I will say that the switch gear and grips felt and looked quite cheap, they had that hard plasticy feel to them. Overall I was pleasantly surprised. Will be booking a test ride in the next couple of weeks. From a personal perspective it was my bike of the show ie. the best of the bikes that I could probably just about afford.
I gotta see and take it for a test run before deciding. I like the new look vs the 650F. I'm disappointed that Honda didn't put this much effort in the 650F
What he is saying if you actually know how to ride is, you can go just as fast on this than a 1000cc since most non track situations would prevent you from max throttle. It doesnt mean this bike is faster, it just means a skilled rider on this tailing you would keep up or past YOU(dan7554).
@@hby7768 Yes that is true. You are very keen. My point is more about not reviewing anything in a positive or negative way unless you actually love the topic. Just saying something is "good enough for me" when you dont care about a subject just adds negativity to the community.
My only guess to them making the comfortable F to closer to the RR... Is due to the Euro4 emissions you guys have. Since the RR is no longer sold there due to it, Honda decided to make the next best thing that can be sold there.
Love the look, perfect amount of power for the roads. Plus being a Honda you know it's going to last. Price Hmm may be a bit high. So if I do pick one up it will be a used one. The new 500r looks great also.
Hi looking to buy a supersport bike . Looking at the Kawasaki Ninja 650, cbr650r, suzuki gsx750. Which would be better for long distance touring, reliability and performance.
couldnt agree more with what he said that he can be just as quick with this middleweight bike as he is with 1000cc bikes. I myself started with yamaha r3 then r6 then cbr1000rr, and now im a proud owner of tuono 1100.. but men, i can just have as much blast with yamaha r3 as i am with the tuono, and those who knows, knows that tuono is no joke
I went from a CBR650F to an 1100 Tuono, most normal road riding, the Honda would be just as quick and very much easier to ride, but it was a little "Honda-ish". Despite Honda calling this an all new bike, it's not! Same engine, frame, swing arm, tank, rear seat unit.... aside from some minor tweaks and a new fairing/headlights, oh and an R instead of an F, it's the same bike they've been selling for 5 years.
Honda never has the nice tail lights! This bike looks great up front and on the side but the Ninja 650 looks so much better from the back! This makes me think of the old 80's 90's Nighthawk taillight.
For your height and weight you say.... What would that be? Trying to get a feel for how I would fit on this bike at 5'10" and 170 pounds and I wear a U.S. size 13 shoe. I tried to guess the height of the tree in the background you were standing next to and I'm guessing that you are about 5'6"-5'7" 135 pounds and a U.S. size 9 shoe. Do you think this bike would be too short for a 5'10" person? Does anybody in the comments have the 650r and stand ~5'10"? Thanks.
Should have shown wheather the old speedo meter have changed or not at least once in a video. I hope it has got new speedo meter which suits new generation motor bikes
Thinking of trading in my 2014 Ninja 650R for this bike. It just sounds way better being that it's a V4 and has bit more power but not too much that it can kill you. Not to mention the digital display is sexy af too. Then again, I'm also considering the ZX6R because for the money, you can buy a full fledged 600cc sport bike for about the same amount of cash. Only thing I don't like on the ZX6R is that new bodywork. Idk, it just doesn't do it for me. Decisions, decisions...
I think I would really like the 650r. I recently picked up a 2019 ZX6R for the reasons you stated. That thing is so much fun and pretty comfortable for a supersport. I've taken it on a 3 hour trip and back the same day. I personally love the looks of it. When I need more comfort, I take out the Ninja 400...that is a bargain and fun as well.
Is there any reason, other than price, to consider the CBR650R or CB650R over the Triumph Street Triple RS or KTM Duke 790? Not a rhetorical question, just want to know. PS: Engine sounds overwhelm voice in a few spots on this video. Should be very easy to fix this...
In short No..... If you can afford the RS then do it mate 👍 it's a phenomenal bike but if it was me I'd go with the R Street Triple unless you do track days 😉
This does not compete with the Street Triple or Duke 790 performance wise. This is a step below. Street triple rs makes something like 125 wheel horsepower and this makes 94 crank horsepower. Huge difference, this is a mild tune bike for city riding and the odd weekend blast

So, firstly, no specs given really in this video, really poor journalism. Secondly, specs given aren't correct. According to honda, the forks are fully adjustable showa Separate Function Forks (SFF). Really, if you're gonna do this basic ass press release shit, at least do it properly.
The way he worded it can be confusing to some, but he was saying the price is most likely $7,720.99. Bikes such as the Kawasaki H2 (fastest production bike) and BMW 1000RR are nowhere near that amount so I doubt a 650 is, especially it being a Honda.
Forget it. The comfort looks awful in this. My old CBR600fw had an easier riding position than this, Honda lost me when they went to the RR as I want a ROAD sports bike... yet the 650R is once again trending to a more extreme position despite being no RR in overall specs. Sad; I had high hopes on this.
Did you even listen to the video or just come here made a comment and left? The man said it isn't a true sport bike, his wrists are fine after riding it.
I had the same exact feelings when this bike was first announced. I was wanting an F riding position, but just with all the nice and updated parts & technology with it. I'm waiting until bar risers come out and see if they make the bike comfortable enough to 100% say no to it.
@@UvidCo 1:56 Did YOU even watch the video? He clearly indicates there is pain for the wrists. He even says "they're absolute fine NOW". Meaning after a rest, his wrists feel better. Other reviews coming out are also saying it's riding position is too close to the RR than the F. That one will get pain from riding.
@@Im_George Strange the reviews I watched said the position was perfect actually. If this guys wrist hurt after that bit of riding, he better stay away from a true sport bike because he wouldn't last 20mins on it. You do know what wristy means right? It means there is some pressure on the wrists, doesn't mean he felt pain. If he had felt pain he would have said it. I have a sport bike and a touring and the sport bike hurts your wrist the other you can feel it in your wrists after a awhile but it doesn't hurt like the sport bike. There is a difference. Yes this bike is more lean over then the 650F but will it cause a shit load of pain, I doubt it. Especially after only a few hrs.
