I take my 1994 Honda cr500 for a top speed run to see just how fast it really goes. Thanks for watching and subscribing! New videos every week! Instagram: 2_vintage_ Snap: the2vintage
The CR500 has never even had a powervalve, so the throttle response and powerband should be epic, scary, lightswitch type....something is seriously wrong. Thats just the bikes gearing that is allowing a decent top speed, but its WAY slow getting there.
It has low compression . One of my bikes would run but wouldn’t hit powerband anymore because the motor was completely shot . Then it blew up a week later
yea whats up with that. every kx500 or cr500 video on yt has terrible jetting and carburetor tuning. the bike can output so much more power just from tuning the carb right, like on this video its running super rich.
One of my CR 500's is road legal and its geared long for the road with a small 40 tooth rear sprocket. I cant even use 1st 2nd 3rd full throttle or it will loop! The 500 in this video has some sort of issue.
Its running super rich, because this bike is jetted for when it had good compression , the bike has no compression now , so its jetted super rich cause it lost a bunch of compression , but all this kids bikes are fucked , its probably just him.. hah
@@josh012345 good advice bro bet he still rips it up an doen that road,if its not a minty carb clean or sparky he sells them lol or causes more damage to engine,a always taught myself to iradicate problem by problem
whats up with all the short shifting in this video? youre riding a 2 stroke man, you gotta ring that things neck if you actually wanna feel the power of it
@@floridaboytae7262 if the cr5 was running full power he would of been chucked off by now, changes gear just as power comes an so loses power in next gear thrash the things thats what they made four they arnt harleys
Two things: 1) Compression test. 2) Leak down test. This will give you all you need to know about the mechanical condition of the engine. Make sure you gas is mixed properly, too rich you will lose power. Clean and adjust carb also, that 500-should be like hopping on the back of a pissed off bull! Enjoy 😊
race your cr250 against it , i bet its faster , theirs no way that 500 is set up right.. when i rode one the front wanted to come up 1-4 with my weight on the bars.
yeah my guess would be it needs a fresh top end in it- too bad these guys are too cheap to compression test any bike , and just go by "kick starter feeling" - that doesn't tell you shit
theirs no compression in the bike go look at all the videos of people trying to start 500 2ts , most of the guys are alot bigger then Charlie and can barely start the bike, i'm sure it has no compression - and its running pig rich because of it .
😂😂😂 this week we gonna do a minty carb clean,an plug change, then when we dont fix the problem we proceed to hammer nackered bikes up an down that road ffs, causing more damage, i wouldnt like to buy a bike off these guys he puts mega profit on nackered bikes
Something that people don't take into consideration when buying 2 stroke bike is the altitude different between where you buy it and where you live . You have to jet carby. The cr 500 should be trying to ripe your arms out of their sockets and I bit if you take it for 15/20 minute ride it would fowl the plug
That 500 isn’t running right at all if it was you wouldn’t be struggling to get the front end up you’d be fighting to keep the front end down the whole time
The needle is too rich so it doesn't want to rev up like it should. Try taking apart the slide and move the needle clip up 1 or 2 positions. It will make a world of difference and you'll be on 1 wheel every time you give it throttle. Good luck!
85mph Same speed as mine. Right where it should be with stock gearing. Engine/intake and exhaust still need work on yours. When you roll the throttle on it should be trying to pull your arms out of your sockets like mine does.
They are young, we all have to start somewhere. They are learning as they go. Lets see where they are at a few years from now. If they truly want this channel to be a success, which i believe the older does. (sorry bad at names). They will have to rely on more than their good looks and charm. Eventually the younger viewers that watch this channel grow up and move on. Then you need good content.
TNT MOTO I totally agree I learned a lot when I was younger and I’m still learning now! I just hope they try to learn, I’m 16 and have had more experience with them most adults thanks to my dad
I agree tnt...my cr500r rips and is way faster than my yz450f....mine breaks ups first couple gears/seconds(which ever comes first) than its crispy and instant power and lifts every gear!
Top speed is when you have optimal gearing for the top speed :) My friend has a kx250 and it does 122km/h to gps with 14 tooth at front, stock rear sprocket so maybe around 116-118km/h totally stock but it gets there like "WHATS NEXT?"
Chuck is a hardcore capitalist to the core. Chuck would probably run up and zoom in on his retinas so he could capture the exact moment that he realizes testing top speeds on a dirt bike was a bad idea just before his neurons stop forever.
@@ayRehzy I don't think this kids skills are as good as yours though! Seeing as he wears Short's and wife beaters riding on the asphalt! He'll learn one day locked up bike or not.
Josh Vickers your right though, he needs gear lmao, i had a bad accident 4 months ago, learned my lesson, broke my right wrist, left thumb, and road rash everywhere. (someone pulled out in front of me)
Thats a lie bro, if you keep pushing the kick starter slowly eventually it will move. If you do it fast tho you will never get it anywhere. I have a 97cr500, check it on my channel.
Oh ok i didn't see him turn over the engine in the video, but yeah i just got one and its really hard to turn over the engine but not even close to the worst i have seen, i also have a 04 husqvarna tc450 and thank god it has electric start, the kickstarter is a joke
The kids bought a fuckin used bike, it's probably got "used bike' compression. Just let them do their shit it'll seize up or start making top end noise soon enough
lots of your videos where the bike runs bad and you have no idea what you are doing or how to fix makes for bad content, especially for those of us who like to tinker and get engines running good. its frustrating. go do a mechanics course at college and learn. maybe then you will give us the content we want.
@@gti20vtMarcel exactly he ignores all advice, changes plug cleans carb then thinks there gonna magically repair themselves by screaming up am down that road wen not fixed, then chuck norris says we all dumb little cheeky fuk hasnt got a clue with bikes
That 500 should scare you every time you hit the power band. It should feel explosive when you hit. Just the anticipation of hitting the power band should scare you! Go find a old Honda dirt bike mechanic and pick his brain, most of them love to talk about the glory days and this bike is the pinnacle of 90's 2-stroke glory!
Limited by gearing and needs to be freshened up. Many years ago a magazine did a quarter mile race between a CR500 and VF500 and the CR500 won handily. Can't remember time but I think around 12.5.
warm up bike, Install new plug, Start bike, Do a WOT run down the street, shut off bike and stop, pull out plug, look at the porcelain around the electrode, if it has a golden brown ring its jetted properly, If its light brown its too lean if its dark brown its too rich. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF CR DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!
On the camera it looks a lot slower trust me he knows how to ride that short shift is keeping the front wheel down I do think the cr500 may need a bottom end or a new carb and to be tuned
"You have no idea".... Maybe go and do a mechanics course or go and hangout at your local bike mechanics garage for a season... Your videos are painful to watch sometimes.... sorry for sounding harsh
maybe they have a bit of knowledge but not understanding what the bikes is... that bike s a monster so not knowing d real thing bout it makes it a sissy
Something is veeeeeery wrong with that 500, it was super slow on that take off, if it were running really well it would have been doing round 30mph within 2 secs of take off at least lol
