In this video I bring you along as I have a go with some Honda CRV door latches. The reason we are replacing them is because they are really loud when they lock and unlock. However they still work. At any rate the customer wants new ones so here we go. -Enjoy!

Engineers are a joke. They only know how to make the job 10 times harder and take 10 extra steps that are unnecessary. Experience and common sense will beat any engineer every time and every engineer is always "shocked" when they find out that the book they learned from was wrong .. this isn't a personal attack but I work around about 5 software engineers and about 15 engineers so let's just say I've had plenty experience with engineers.

You talked about when you son was little. I had my 5 year old granddaughter out in the boat yesterday and was letting her steer. After a few minutes she started asking what everything was and what it did. When we got to the throttle, her eyes light up when I explained what it did. We were going along a few more minutes, when all of a sudden, the boat took off like a rocket, my wife fell off her seat and my granddaughter is all smiles and laughing. She loves going fast.

Had to change the driver door lock actuator on my wife's old Dodge Journey. The only reason I was able to figure it out is because I work in an auto factory, and I spent just enough time on the door line to have a general idea of how the whole thing is put together. Great video!!

Thank you for the video. My 2008 Crv has 219,000 miles and I have to replace the rear door lock. The last set has lasted since I bought it with 96,000 miles, 9 years ago (Dealer replaced for free).

Did my 2011 CRV front passenger when they started going crazy by locking and unlocking by themselves. the parts are pretty cheap and its not a hard job. probably an hour or two. there was actually a recall on them

I am glad that I'm the only one at home while I'm watching this video. The Tommy Boy reference had me laughing FAR TOO LOUDLY!!! Thanks Eric!

Hey man, great video. My biggest issues were the removal and then replacing of the unit around the window track. Your advice to slide it in from the bottom was spot on, cause there really a'int room to turn and remove/install. I was beating my head on that one for a while, then I found this video. Also the metal rod detach with the retaining clip was tough. Anyway, I conquered the beast, and for a 2008 with 224K, saving the money was totally worth it! Thank you and stay busy!

First time I've seen a circular saw with car repair tools. Must be for when things get REALLY serious.

The Phillips vs JIS screwdriver bit really hit home for me. My RC airplanes have little screws everywhere... and they are "Phillips" BUT they are not a #1 Phillips or a #2 Phillips. They are like a #1.25-#1.5 Phillips. I always chalked it up to crappy chinese quality control; until I discovered a "#1 JIS" was the correct size! No more stripped little tiny screws! That is the ONLY time I've ever needed to differentiate between Phillips and JIS. LOL Thanks Eric O!

I would no matter how carefully I would take a door panel off especially a GM vehicle those stupid clips would always break. P.s. stay safe these next couple of days

Thank you sir this is going to be a lot easier on Monday when my part comes in to replace this myself instead of taking it to a dealership and pay them outrageous labor rates which I used to work at a dealership Chrysler Jeep and Dodge dealers for 20 years and thank you and have a wonderful weekend

Nicely done Eric. I needed to wach since I still have a draw on my '07 Galant & found the rear driver door inside panelnwasn't put back as it should. I went through the whole shebng of letting everything rest & fund a draw on the door lock fuse which seemed to reset by activating the locks 2 times & no more draw on the fuse. I need to do it again only having the amp draw monitored over the negative terminal.. Such is ife. Thanks & wishing you guya bit of a better day.
