Great video friend, and thanks, I've got a 2014 crz that needed this done. Went to dealership yesterday and purchased the cvt fluid and came home and done it myself, no problems, appreciate it
Great job and tutorial. I can confirm that the PNs listed are correct. When i was doing my car, i needed 3QT+18oz to bring to proper level (within hot range), so definitely buy 4 QT.
2011 CR-Z is squealing from the CVT upon mild to heavy acceleration. It stops when you're up to speed or maintaining speed. Fluid? Belt loose? I'm lost and new to CVT
Can you use AMS OIL CVT Fluid??? The directions on the back of the bottle read::: USE IN BELT AND CHAIN TYPE CVT'S THAT REQUIRE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING SPECIFICATIONS: HONDA: HMMF (08200-9006) , HCF-2
Hi Chuck D, thanks for watching! the specification calls for Honda CVT 08200-9006 or 08200-9006C fluid, not the Honda HCF-2, they are NOT the same. The Fluid for the CR-Z should be slightly red in color. I'm not sure why the AMS Oil CVT fluid can replace the 2 different generations of Honda CVT fluid as the Honda OEM ones are not interchangeable. If the AMS OIL CVT fluid say it is the same as the 08200-9006, you will have to use at your own risk. Honda transmissions tend to be very picky with the fluids they are happy with. Hope that helps!
Hi Stuntz0rZ, the CR-Z has a maintenance minder system, when the code 5 comes up then that's when you have to make the coolant change. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching.
@@MohammedL Hi M L, I just checked the 2011 CR-Z owner's manual, assuming it's the same for all MT CR-Z's and you are only changing the transmission fluid and not replacing the transmission, it takes 1.5 US Qt or (1.4Litre)of Honda Manual Transmission Fluid. Also, if Honda MTF is not available, you may use the API Certificated SAE 10 W-30 or 10W-40 Viscosity motor oil as a temporary measure. Replace with MTF as soon as possible. Motor oil does not contain the proper additives for the transmission and continued use can cause stiffer shifting.
@@ghettodiy7114 Thank you for the reply, I've just ordered 3x1litre from eBay. Genuine Honda MTF from Honda dealership. I will attempt to do exactly as per the video, which is fantastic. Thanks again for the reply.
@@MohammedL The MTF procedure is slightly different with the fill/check/drain holes. You can view a copy of the 2011 Honda CR-Z owner's manual here. (Look for 2011 CR-Z Owner's Manual PDF) owners.honda.com/vehicles/information/2011/CR-Z/manuals This is how you check the MTF fluid level (from the owner's manual) , looks like the filler bolt has to be accessed under the car, not above like the CVT. Remove the transmission filler bolt and washer. Carefully feel inside the bolt hole with your fingers. Check if the fluid level is up to the edge of the bolt hole. If the fluid level is not up to the edge of the bolt hole, add Honda Manual Transmission Fluid (MTF) until it runs out of the hole. Put a new washer on the filler bolt, then reinstall the filler bolt. Tightening torque: 33 lbf∙ft (44 N∙m, 4.5 kgf∙m) Reinstall the under cover with the bolts and clips. You may need a pump like this: amzn.to/3hg1aDi
Why did you remove the entire bottom engine cover for a CVT fluid change? Just removing the small cover below the transmission plug should be enough isn't it Lol
Hi Bryan, thanks for watching, yes, removing the small cover below the transmission plug is enough if you are only doing the CVT fluid change. I removed the entire cover because I was doing the Honda B123 service which includes the Engine oil change. Hope that helps!
Hi Fernando, thanks for watching. The CVT fluid is a type of Transmission fluid. It's for lubricating the CVT transmission to clean and protect metal surfaces from wear. Hope that helps!
