Just had the issue of not moving happen on my Rubicon. I have the puller ordered and just waiting on the chain. Great video and thank you for pointing out the trouble areas. I will update once I get the chain installed. Thanks again for posting.
If you have not done it yet, replace the cam chain at the same time. Mine jumped off due to wear. Also replace the cam chain tensioner. It will be well worth the little extra cost while you have it all apart
We also changed stretched oil pump chain. Everything is now assembled back but honda wont move. There is resistance when pressing gas, even it is in neutral. Any ideas? Bad hondamatic? Or something gone wrong?
I got the same issue I took all the bolts out holding the clutch cover on and can’t seem to split it!! Seems like there’s still something holding it up..did u have a pretty hard time getting urs off ?
i had a hard time getting one off, it turns out its the shaft that he said to tap on. i had to use two big pry bars simultaneously to put the cover off of that shaft. one about it and one below it to make it go. hope this helps.
Yah thx bud I got it off!! Ended up being a bolt I missed!! The head off it was covered in gunk so I never noticed it right away lol soon as I took that out it came off right away!!
wondeing could u push the 4 wheeler in neutral mine i jacked hole 4 wheeler of the ground mine wont throttle up i had valves ajusted carb cleaned its like something holding it back i put it in gear and tried moving back wheels they move back and forth a little and can here little clinging when doint it but front wheels move when i turn them by hand all the wheels move in neutral
@@chaselagger6830 no never figured it out 4 wheeler has been put up for the winter i think my next step imma have to either get into the transmission see if i can fix what ever wrong in there the research iv done a while back there something common that slides out of place i guess eaither that imma replace hole trans with a used one becus i only paid 400 for the 4 wheeler or maybe find another 4 wheeler either smashed up or one with a junk motor dont really wanna put much money in it when i paid 400 for it and its not in the greatest shape but starts every time if u end up figureing out whats wrong with yours let me know ill do the same im just not doing much with it right now i live in Michigan its cold and like 8 inchs of snow right now so messing with snowmobile now
Chris Sanders yes, It works perfectly now. The angle sensor did not have voltage, so the swash plate angle motor was setting random angle/ speed, started in 5th gear. The quad also had spark problem which I had just rewired, so I decided to change the whole wire harness for a used one... cleaned the carb also and adjusted the valves, now it works perfectly.
Chris Sanders let me know if I can help, I went through the whole service manual. And even found part that honda wont even sell. I also found replacement parts that are good quality and extremely cheap compared to genuine honda parts
@@Davidtorresm test voltage at the angle sensor plug, resistance at the angle sensor itself and test shorts on the wiring harness with continuity test. I personally changed the wire harness since I had had another connection problem on the ignition side. Also, try cleaning the 34p connector to the ECM, I think that connector might be a weakness in those years. Usually, people say that you cannot find honda connectors but if you need them, I can get most of them... I have one of those 34p on hand right now with all connection pin. Considering that a harness costs about 400$ new, its a good thing to have if you’re good at soldering. If you need a maintenance manual, I have a pdf version which gives you the info you’ll need to make the tests. I also have angles sensors if thats whats bad, but you can also buy them on ebay or partzilla.com My guess is that the angle sensor is bad, or the wiring harness has a bad connection somewhere.
I was riding mine yesterday and it’s like it went in neutral first few revs and I could hear something grinding and then the noise went away as it revs. No matter what gear I’m in it’s like it’s in neutral. Praying this is my issue!
I had my back brakes lock up and had a hard time getting it apart without ruining the brake drum....1 shoe lining came off and jammed in between the drum and the other shoe.....I had to drill a hole in the drum to to get backing plate separated after I took back plate off the rear differential to be able to work at it
Hey guy I have 04 500 rubicon that I picked up the other day that seems to be going into the lever functions rev, drive, and low but dash cluster doesn’t work but I can feel it and I can here the new electric
Sorry thank I hit wrong button on here before I could finish my question sorry!! But yea replaced electric shift motor and angle sensor but bike won’t move.
Got mine out and the chain was still good and loose just stretched. Got the new one in and everything is back together, now I’m not getting spark lucky me
That all depends on how you get the clutch out, if you don’t have the tool a lot of times it’s hard to get out. I had to use an 8 in 3 leg puller and wrapped a zip tie around the ends to hold on to it and she finally gave way
really wish they would of designed this motor better im going to be redoing my timing/oil pump chain and I think its dub you have to remove the top end to get to the cam thats in the middle of the motor
that is what happend when you swamp a atv and wait years to fix it ( a chain that spend it's entire live in oil never cease up that chain will outlast the bike) in normal use and oil change
Not true. I have one, never swamped, oil changed regularly, after a million miles I had to replace the dam chain and the oil chain was changed while I had it opened.
