My dad recently got a 98 Aspencade. He said, "I don't know how much more I can get out of it, it's got twenty-eight thousand miles on it already." I just laughed. That thing will outlive both of us.
I have a 94 Goldwing Interstate I've had for many years. It's not my primary ride anymore, I also have a 2000 GL1500CF Valkyrie Interstate. It's still the most comfortable of my 2 bikes and I still ride it every now and then. I will never sell it.
I paid $1800 for my 88'! But it had all new tires, custom suspension, LED lights, floorboards, trailer hitch, custom airbrush paint on all body work, etc. Completely restored an ready too ride! The trailer hitch assembly was that much! I love GW but having trouble enjoying high gas prices! But GW motor is designed to run a car on regular fuel, so when I need premium gas for Harley, I can use regular fuel in GW! You got an unbelievable price for your bike. You put some money into it an you'll have great bike! An 88' with first for reverse, it's going too be collector's item! Just like my 100 anniv Dyna!
from 88 to 2000 it remained the Gold Standard in touring. So good the competition gave up trying to compete. I use to own a 93 goldwing. I na couple of weeks I'll be putting a 99 on the road.. this is going to be likely the last bike I ride, till I can no longer ride it.
This reminds me of my last year of high school during a work experience program where I worked at a powersports dealer. In one of the storage sheds, there was a mid to late 80s Goldwing that was absolutely pristine. Not a spec of rust on it, and only needed to be dusted off. Seeing this video, and hearing that 80s synthwave music really reminds me of that bike.
Same here, (albeit less mileage!). Still say it's the best looking design they ever had. The 2000-2018 model has grown on me over the years after first hating it, but post 2018 just looks like any other tourer. Can never mistake the 1500 on the road!!
During covid lockdowns I bought 88' GL 1500 GW, needing moved from storage. Project bike covered in dust but trailered down hwy cleared dust to reveal painted desert airbrush scenes around bodywork. Taking my friend, an trailer owner, home his neighbor sees 2 of us checking out paint. This new neighbor tells us he has something for me. Comes out with 3 pictures together of desert scene that matches bike paint. I can't take that, your a complete stranger! I want you to have it! He puts picture in my truck. On way home on I-5, 1800 Gold Wing pulls up next to my window, yells, nice bike! Yeah I'm just buying an bringing it home! Couple drops back to look GW over. Pulling back up to my window, he asked, can I ask how much you paid? I told them, an they laugh saying, you just bought a "Markland" trailer hitch assembly an you got a free Goldwing attached!! Hahaha, I could hear as we waved an wished good luck. I get home with my 88' GW, accessories, LED lights, custom airbrush paint, trailer hitch, a matching deserts picture too match, an a new friend!! Story doesn't end here. Later this new friend lost his job. He is losing his family, home, everything. In desperation, he comes over to my friend that helped with trailer for bike. He tells my friend he's lost everything wants to know if my friend knows of any work? My friend just happens to be head of road and parks department for major NW city. My friend gives this new friend a temporary City job. He's such a good worker my friend hired him on full time, with benefits etc. He asked my friend, how did you know about me? It was all I needed too know when you gave that matching deserts picture too my friend!
@@davidbuschow1079 no! But I'll check it out thanks! I was having trouble with mice getting into top luggage box. I couldn't believe they were getting in by 2 little holes for unlocking helmet locks! I put a rubber plug in each of 2 holes an stopped mice.
