I just bought one that looks exactly like Mr Flyers😁 It’s an unused 2019 bike so it was discounted. Question for you both - It seems jerky as I approach junctions slowly on occasions. I’ve tried a DCT reinitialisation, and it seems a little better, but not perfect. Any advice guys? Love both your videos👍
That’s exactly what I found Charlie, the down change at slow speeds - particularly on approach to roundabouts and junctions, was a lot jerkier than I would have expected. Pretty much my only complaint 👍
@@charliewhittaker3057 not the answer you are looking for but if you have to do tight u turns ie car park etc, then put it in rain mode, for better throttle control, with a bit of back brake
I went to buy an Africa twin.......but went on a Goldwing ride instead, now I own a Goldwing, and it's the best bike I've ever owned, or ever likely to own, I had Harleys for 20+ years but this bike is on another level for comfort and rideability. It's a Lexus on two wheels.
Love having Mrs Teapot along for company. Cracked up when she stated,"You can go as fast as you like", and then followed by "But you don't have to be silly". Great stuff Bruce, you make my day brother so thank you. A big G'day from Australia.
This DCT Gold Wing is a plush Lexus LS500. The torque on this bike starts full on at 2500rpm. Sport mode is other level for a bike this size. The 200 rear tire adds to the stability. A fantastic bike. The GSA still has the soul. Ride safe and ride often. Peace.
"A decent turn of speed" is all relative. For someone who doesn't ride a sport bike, the bike is phenomenally powerful. It scared me a few times. From a standstill it fires through the gears and reaches silly speeds in no time. Sport mode is crazy responsive. Too much for daily riding, but fun when you want to pass a string of cars.
Love the video, good to see Mrs Teapot enjoyed the pillion ride. I have rented Goldwings on my USA holidays, they are lovely bikes to tour on. I use all the backroads as well. I rode my rental on the Blue ridge parkway and tail of the dragon. 😎🏍
Cheers Rob, I genuinely miss this bike now🥺 Don’t suppose you know why the top speed was so low? Could it have been limited as it was brand new and not had the first service?
Thorough and honest review, as expected. Mrs TeaPotOne was a refreshing touch. Would very much enjoy a longer road trip video on this machine. Perhaps a joint venture with TMF and your better halves on the two Gold Wings. I would predict massive views and more subs for both channels. And endless entertainment for us viewers. 👍🏼 😎 🇺🇸 🌎
I am lucky enough to have six motorcycles at the moment. I picked up a 2018 Gold Wing tour from a customer of mine who could no longer ride. He only put 700 miles on it. I thought I might just ride it a little bit and sell it. But like you, it won me over. Now they will have to pry it out of my cold dead hands. It holds a line through a corner smoother and better than most motorcycles. I live near the mountains in Colorado so can easily get it out onto some beautiful curvy sweepers. The massive torque makes it effortless and deceptively quick. It is a technological tour de force, with incredible reliability. I enjoyed your video and hope the kind people at Honda will loan you the bike to take on a longer ride. If they had any sense, they would just give you the bike in exchange for these great videos which give them better advertising that they are doing themselves.
Thanks very much Jack, that’s very kind bud and I’m chuffed you enjoy the vids. Yes this bike is just a fantastic experience to ride isn’t it. I genuinely miss it👍
Nice to see MrsTP1 enjoying the experience. Many moons ago I worked at a campground in the BC interior. The Goldwings would come in packs, and they were usually great guests. Probably because going through the Rockies was a rubberneckers paradise! Cheers Bruce 👍
Your thoughts after a 1st ride on that bike highlight how it's almost impossible for joe public to make a decision on a bike after a quick ride at the dealers. Exactly why we need to refer to you guys to get a proper feel for the bike longer term. Thanks Bruce.
Thanks bud, Aye that’s been my experience a few times now when doing these reviews, and there’s no way I’d buy a bike based solely on a 15-30 minute test ride now. I’m glad the vids are useful to some people 👍👏
Lucky my dealer...(like finding a needle in a haystack) lent me the bike for a entire day to ride and decide...he said at 9am just comeback before we close at 5 pm 🤔 i actually thought he was joking and he said no take it for the day no joke. 😮 After the ride on a 6spd and after he showed me around the repair area and introduced me to his mechanics that have been with him for many many years ...my new dilema was a 6speed or dct and what color?🤔 I went with a Ardent Red dct . Love this bike.
Great Video, enjoyed Mrs Teapot views of the bike. Not many wives would say, "I like it, GET IT." Now you have it on camera! Hopefully that will play in your favor. Be Healthy, Be Safe.
Great Vid Bruce, liked the addition of Mrs Teapot. I had the VFR 1200 F with DCT, vastly underrated bike, put that in sport mode and it was more than a flick in the dangles, it was mental when I you pulled on the throttle and it kicked down the gears. Get saving Bruce, the wife likes it !
Great Review 👍 loveky bike if Glodwings are your thing. Great to meet you at Bmw Tunbridge Wells last week with my mate. Nice guy, love your videos , keep safe and keep up the Great vids...👍👍👐🏍🏍🏍👍👍👍
Very good, honest video. Honda have done well to reimagine the goldwing into something that isn’t just for going in straight lines 👍 Pity they’re so expensive
My mate Nick bumped into you at Motorcycle live. I’m the guy he told you about that went a bought a new Goldwing Tour DCT after watching your review. So it’s kinda your fault but you are forgiven, the best money I’ve ever spent 😉
I'm glad you gave it a second look. I've been a GoldWing owner for many years and I consider them real value for dollar. They are a bit pricey for sure, but reliable as hell for hundreds of 1000's of km of fun. Safe travels. Nice video.
New subscriber here. After watching this in depth and very entertaining review, I may have to genuinely look at one of these even though the AU$50 grand price tag is awfully steep. Been out of riding for a while and am itching to get back in the saddle and tour this wonderful country of mine. Ride safe.
This was a happy surprise to see 😁. I’m just watching your RTW trip , as you know 😉. You have a swedish subscriber , all the best you both / all three ( the dog ).
When you mentioned about seeing your dad, I was waiting to hear you say... ..to see me dear 'ol Da! - I've watched too many pommie soapies obviously lol
Went back to watch this again . Really good video . Mrs T should have her own channel as she is just that brilliant. Listening to u and TMF I bit the bullet and bought one . The DCT is a bit tricky at times for low speed maneuvering as u have no clutch and rely on the rear brake . U r awesome but mrs T is super awesome
You and the Mrs sound just like me and mine when we’re on the Hornet. If I go too fast she squeezes me with her knees, then the shouting starts as I slow down......... lol!
This is the first review I've seen with a passenger. Thank Mrs. Teapot for her input please. It's good to know the handling seems the same with a passenger.
Took one on a test ride thinking i want to tour Europe on one of those. My conclusion was yes i would like to do a tour on one but not own one. It was a bit unfair as i jumped off my ZZR1400 onto the Goldwing. It helped me on my sports touring learning curve in terms of wants and needs...........I finally ended up with a 2020 Superduke GT of course a million miles away fromn the Goldwing but driving that helped me to decide what i really needed
Bruce this is the first incarnation of the Goldie I have ever looked at and thought I would have one of them .For me it's like the ultimate tourer mile muncher and styles just perfect the price is squeaky bum but wow what a bike I also luv the color of Andy's in that gorgeous blue .Correct me if I am wrong but also has a kind of reverse gear thing going on to, excellent review I hope ya get it for a longer time later on, like ya said that would be good .Cheers : )
Thanks Malcolm, Yeah it has a creep forward and reverse gear, I actually demo’d it on film but for some reason I’ve edited it out of the final vid 🤷♂️🤦♂️ It really is a great riding machine, can’t recommend you try one enough 👍
Lovely to see the other half out and about with you enjoying the bike. My other half often says why didn’t we see more from you with pillion. All down to the bike as you mentioned. Maybe see if you can do the same with the RT or more 💙
Brilliant review again mate love the outtakes lol 😂 really like this bike TMF has the best colour would love try the clutchlesss looks great for touring thanks for sharing 👍
Best just hand over the money. I'm about to get on my 2018 6mt tour and get a short ride in before the rains start washing out the rest of the week. Truth be known,,, wife likes the bike more than I do. She's happy as long as I'm not in sport/normal mode and grinding the pegs up wishing it would go faster.
You r videos r such a pleasure . I love my 22 Goldwing . I’m having the suspension redone in Atlanta by traxion dynamics . The better suspension eleviates the herky jerky when riding hard and fast in the performance setting
You know m8 after getting knocked off my bandit a few months ago I had really lost my motorcycle mojo, I think I told you about it. But after buying my GS I honestly can't believe what I'd been missing all these years. It was comfort 😃👍👍 I've never wanted to ride as much in the last 30 odd years as I do now on this bike. Maybe if I ever win the lottery I'll buy one of those too. But only in a few more years 🤣🤣👍
No bike built ever can do it all and we all have slightly different expectations from our machines. The Goldwing though is pretty close to perfected for those looking to tour. It's even pretty good as an everyday ride if prefer to cruise in comfort. I'd love to see how you get on long term though. Living with a 400kg machine below a riden 5mph does tend to be a pita sometimes. Stay well clear of deep gravel driveways. Luckily these modern beasts have a reversing gear.
This is for those that think their car has to many wheels. The Honda Goldwing has always been a flagship touring machine, and even those that do not ride a Honda have respect for it. Take care, and ride safe.
@randyshoop3214 Sorry for the slow reply. I've never ridden a Goldwing, but I figured it must be way better than most of the bikes I've ridden in the last 40 years. My worst bikes was the Harley V-Rod 1250 and Honda Rebel 1100. Both similar in looks and comfort. No wind protection, horrible seat, and very uncomfortable to ride for more than a couple of hours.
Like you I don't have the 32k for a GoldWing, so i will stick with my 21 year old Royal Star venture, which is the same weight, but has its CoG a bit higher. The better half, will prefer any out and out tourer, with a backrest and hand holds
another excellent review, not the sort of bike for me, but its nice to see something a bit different....upstaged by Mrs Teapot too!! fab job both of you!
What a beast of a bike - first bike I ever went on as a pillion as an at about 8 year old in Canada on my cousins bike. Think the spec might have changed a little since then though!
masterstroke bringing the shepot with you on the pillion bruce! I've even showed it my missus who like your good lady will pick and choose which bikes she goes on the pillion with me. Always down to the comfort and feeling of safety for the passenger.
Great review Mr Teapot, it must be amazing to ride. I rode the 1500 back in the 90's and totally for the Goldwing thing. This must be lightyears ahead.
I can tell you the GW is very stable when hitting a coyote. As long as it hits the front wheel and doesn't go under, you are good to go. Unfortunately, the coyote probably won't live and the motorcycle will suffer $20,000 dollars worth of damage when it cracks the engine case and rips off every piece of plastic and smashes the muffler. Alas, my 2018 is totaled and my friend ended up in the ditch as dinner for a bunch of buzzards. Lucky me, I drove on home and didn't think anything of it until the next day when I saw how much damage had been done. Thank you baby Jesus!
