I dont intend to buy a GROM or any alike kind of bike at all - why do I still feel an instant urge to watch this? Must be because of the generall entertaining quality of RocketMan tubes. ;-)
I have had my 2018 Grom for a year now and still have mixed feelings. I love the size (I’m 5’8”, 160 lbs) but the lack of speed puts me in a sweat on the way to the gym or store, everyone is going 60 to 65 mph. I also have the Zoom pipe and love the fuller side. No Denali Mini Sound Boom? The horn on the Grom is toon timid, sounds like it’s apologizing. The stock seat on the 2018 is okay for short rides but I find it too hard and too hard edged after 15 minutes or so. I’ve almost ordered the lower fairings several times for a sportbike look. If I keep it, I will order the luggage rack. I’m looking at a slightly larger bike to replace it for my commutes here in Florida (Honda/Yamaha/KTM 300ish size). My Bonneville is faster, the Burgman 200 more practical but the Grom is just a different riding experience. Another excellent video.
@@RocketMan_Moto thanks for replying, oh shame you sold the grom we're similar size and it was good hearing you were comfortable on it as I want one more than any grown-up bike 😅 cheers
I do like these. Had an early one and did around 7000 miles on it. In fact I did more miles on it than my ER6 and MT09 put together. I imagine the 5 speed box will improve things.
Hello! So cool watching this landscape/roads I know so well :) Well done video. Wouldn't a slightly heavier + powerful bike make sense for you? Like a Huskvarna Svartpillen 401 or a Royal Enfield Hymalayan? I've been considering a used one of those, to keep in Portugal for short rides in my Alentejo, maybe occasionally go down to Algarve, or the west coast :)
Thanks, Daniel. I don't do enough off road to justify a 'proper' off-road bike. Most of my riding is on tarmac and I have bigger bikes for that. The Grom is a toy, really :)
Interesting review Paul👍 I average at 200kms per tank on my 2015 Grom but guess I am thrashing it up mountains all the time. I have never ridden it far on flat terrain but am sure the consumption would be better if I did. I like the stock bars too. I find the brakes on my pretty good and more than powerful enough for the power of the bike. I’ve done about 5.5k kms on mine so maybe they bed in better after they have some miles on them!
Thanks! Yes, I'm hoping the brakes will bed in soon, otherwise there's always the option of better pads. It is quite easy to get carried away with the revs, and there's always a temptation to thrash the engine. I realised it's pointless, though, as this increases sound levels rather than any actual speed, lol :)
I’m trading in my Triumph Bonneville T120 for a Grom, since I’m just riding into town, and the back roads in the Western N. Carolina mountains. I’m 62, and still a kid I guess! 😀
Portugal power! Afinal parece que se calhar vais passar a ver uma Dax, moro a apenas 20km de Albufeira. 😂 Concordo com o "free transportation" especialmente se abastecermos com o saldo do cartão continente na galp 💪😂
Thank you! Yes, in fact I tend to use our Honda Vision scooter around town more than the Grom, simply because there are no gears to worry about and there's a good amount of storage under the seat.
No, but then again I don't really ride long distances. I have heard from other 2021 owners that the new seat is a considerable improvement on the previous generations.
Hi RocketMan, i am following you, just bought the maxxis M6024 tires for my Grom 2022, and i bought also the handlbar bag from decathlon, just one question in which way you fix the bag to handlebar, there are no velcro strips on the side. Thank you Glauco
I attached the bag to the brake and clutch cables with the Velcro straps. I thought this maybe wouldn't be enough, so I was going to make some extra straps with cable ties, but in fact the 2 Velcro straps hold the bag securely. No problem in 2 months use :)
I first bought a pair of circular folding mirrors. They offered really good vision, but stuck out too much, making filtering awkward. So, I swapped for some more vertical ones - they look better, but I can't see as well. Agreed that the Grom is a really good fun bike for small rides but for longer raids on the Algarve mountain trails I think a bigger bike would be way better. And great video as always 💪
I love the part where he is like when my cow of a wife is on the back the tire hits her ass hahaha. Just kidding but that would have been funny if you did.
I got rid of the ktm ,luvin the G,,got a tarp on my rd350,,,,,the G ,for a real motorcyclist ,,is great fun,,and hones ya style,,,not tuff ,,,oh dear ,,,, 🐔Chop on son
GreetingS RM, "A 14 FRONT sproket is essential" for poke ,and de restrict airbox, and k&n filter, its way more poke,,standard pipe,,and let the ecu dial in (200km ish),i get 115 km ,sat upright in wind ,and its geting faster,,,

@@RocketMan_Motoalso have no play in the ever stretching throtel cabel, the T.P.S needs to be just right for the ecu to dial in, ,,and the ever stretching 420 chain can be delt whith a 36 or 37 rear sproket, although a 428 mx chain and sproket sorts that ,at some point down the road,,,thought beter rmention that to the RM☝️
My first bike was a 1971 Kawasaki 90 and it did 70 mph with two people on it.Foul a plug though and your screwed .No where near the milage you are getting.
Nice video. But Monkey is way cooler. The Grom pretends to be a naked Street bike; whereas The Monkey has no illusions and is is pure fun. I take my wife on my bigger bikes, but would never want to take a pillion on such a small bike. May be different in other countries, we're you may not be fully leathered up. But in the UK , unless you are small, I can't see the point of the Grom. Looking forward to seeing the new 5 speed Monkey over here
@@RocketMan_Moto fair enough. Sounds like you have a particular requirement for a small bike to go in a van, which will also take a passenger. I must admit, I've thought about the new Supercub CT125 trail. Looks great fun with a pillion. But really, I love the Monkey too much.😀
