HONDA IS NO LONGER RELIABLE! HERE’S WHY!!!

In today’s video, I’ll let you know what I think. Honda is no longer a reliable car manufacturer. The first reason why I think honda is no longer a reliable vehicle is that they’re still putting timing belts in their V6 engines and their interference engines. What this means is if your timing belt breaks or fails for whatever reason your engine is likely to have very expensive damage, or possibly needing to replace the engine altogether. The second reason that I think Hondas are no longer reliable is that the CVT transmissions that they are putting in the four-cylinder engines are very weak. They are prone to breaking. Reason why honda are not a great choice. As far as reliability goes is it they are relatively fragile. Maybe even delicate. I know that sounds weird, but it’s critical that only honda fluids are used for several different components of the vehicle, including the transmission, power, steering, and the coolant system.

@@scrambler69-xk3kv the OP doesn’t understand that. He thinks everything is made as it ever is. 2008 is still 208-quality; 2024 “should be 2008 quality” as he would like to think. Ever heard of Boeing? Ever heard they were the GREATEST aviation company in the past, and a shlt manufacturer now? Same principle: every company loves money thus every company loves “planned obsolescence”. Sony, Samsung, Apple, Gibson guitars, the list goes on-even Toyota, none of these companies retained their “quality” as back in the past. They find ways to cut-corners and find substandard materials disguised as “reduce cost and improve safety”.

The 2008 is by stats the best honda pilot in its class even with the belt over chain. I have the 2008 dealership maintained and the Honda wins hands down just the 2008 😂😂

Sorry to say buddy but ur timing belt is a maintenance item yes a chain would be nice but u past a $700 repair for a $5k item. Cvt r weak from all mfg but regular fluid changes will keep it going. Very few people do proper maintenance.

I had a 86 prelude, what an amazing reliable car. Unbelievable. Then a 2001Honda accord and then a 2008 Honda Odyssey, the last two vehicles were average to poor in quality!!!!! No more Honda for me.

Regardless of brand, If you do not maintain your vehicle it will be break ! It's common sense. I had a Honda Civic that ran 255K miles before I gave it to my sister. My next vehicle was a Honda Accord that reached 275K miles before it was hit at the rear and was totaled. My current vehicle is Honda 2018 CRV now 60K miles and have no problem at all. As long as you maintain you change the fluids and replace the battery, tires, spark plugs, starter, water pump, and other parts that wears then you will be fine. Honda is a durable vehicle and I high recommend based on my experience. My family members and friends also drives Honda vehicles. Another good thing about Honda is the resale value better than than Toyota because you do not find a Honda vehicle in big car rental fleets.

Sorry to hear that,but I own 2010 Honda pilot with 273000 mi,changed timing belt 2 times and going strong. Timing belt needs to be changed every 120000 mi I think. No problems just regular maintenance,but definitely need new suv.

I changed the timing belt at roughly 100,000 miles. It then broke with roughly 160,000 on it. I’m not 100% sure if it broke or if the tensioner failed. If I could do it again I would have been more firm about OEM parts.

So how many miles were on the timing belt and how old was it? I always change my timing belt before it’s due. I do agree with you about the CVT thing for sure. Now I have had Toyota engines with interference engines with a belt as well. Also the small Toyota cars are CVT

Had the transmission rebuilt in my '14 Acura MDX with the 6 speed auto at 115K miles. Even had the fluid changed every 30K-40K miles, but there was a defect with the torque converter they never came up with a permanent fix for. Dealer just reprogrammed the PCM and did a triple flush, but it would eventually start acting up again until it started slipping badly and had to be rebuilt. Not sure I'd buy another Honda after that.

Does Toyota still coat their wiring with soy based material? I'm interested in buying a new Prius. I have a Honda pilot with 267k miles and I had the engine replaced/ repaired twice. From the problem you stated. But now is a serious problem where I am only getting 8 miles to the gallon. Vs 18-24 two years ago. All my gaskets in the parts are failing( the power steering pump- we rebuilt it... It was easy), the oil pump, ( that was an emergency), the differential sensor, the gasket on the wiper fluid. 19 years old. I love the vehicle it is so comfortable to drive. Easy to get into if you have a knee problem etc. Great heated seats. But it's a 2005. It has been in the shop 8 times plus maintenance in the last year. If it's a third car for camping etc or piling the kids and friends on the weekend it's great.

Late to reply, but yes toyota does still use soy wiring. Just spray it with rodent repellent. Also, look at getting a the corolla hybrid too, the new priuses are in high demand so they are very expensive.

Well I get what you are saying about the timing belt. But regarding that generation of the honda pilot they are very reliable with proper maintenance. My 07 pilot has been rock solid all these years! For the timing belt job use only OEM parts or the Aisin kit. There has been many failures due to low quality aftermarket parts. My 07 pilot has 161k miles runs very smooth I get around 21 mpg on the high way. When it comes to fluids I’ve been using Amsoil signatures series oils for the engine,transmission, transfer case and the brakes. The only fluids I buy from Honda are the power steering fluid and rear differential.

That timing belt issue, should not even exist. Honda needs to stop being lame and implement a timing chain. Problem solved.

Totally get what you’re saying. 150k you most likely are going to have to change something. But honestly I don’t think it will be anything significant. 150k. That’s like 10 years you have of a vehicle. It’s not bad.. I replaced my tensioner. And it only cost like $100

My experience has been different. I have a 2007 Honda Pilot and have over 207,000 miles on it. Replaced the timing belt once at 102,00 miles. I change the oil with full synthetic and that's about it. It's starting to show its age and has a few quirks and sounds, but the engine and transmission seem to be going strong. My wife has a 2009 Honda Accord and it has over 350,000 miles on it, mostly highway miles for the first 12 years. We just bought a Honda Passport and hope it lasts as long as the other two. I was looking at the Toyota Highlander, but was disappointed they got rid of their 6 cylinder and replaced it with a 4 cylinder with a turbo. Bad idea. I wish Honda didn't have timing belts and VCMs on their J35 engines. But thinking of putting a disabler on the VCM. I like that the Toyota RAV 4 still has an aspirated engine with no turbo and has an automatic. Too bad Honda CRVs didn't do that. I'd stay away from the CRVs.

People keep citing older model Hondas. Maybe the newer ones have gone downhill. It happens, especially if the bean counters start dictating instead of the engineers.
@ranmangolf
@ranmangolf 7 месяцев назад
Perhaps, but its hard to say because you have to find something better. EPA and enviro pressure causes all the car manufactures to do stupid things. I like Hondas and Toyotas but it depends on which vehicle and what they put on it. CVTs are a bad idea and so is underpowered engines that require a turbo to give them enough power.

Toyota and ford are more reliable than Honda. I have friends who had Hondas they lasted from 120k-140k miles, my 2004 ford has outlived them with 182k and still counting, then I have a friend who took a '09 Toyota sequia 250k miles before it died. Admittedly, I've worked on my ford in the past 6 months more than I ever had before all the minor plastic-parts are falling apart now.

I feel the same way except now toyota is struggling with their new V6 engines in the tundra, etc. And struggling with the transmissions in the Tacoma. I think honda wins in the styling category over toyota. Still blows my mind why honda is using timing belts in interference engines. Also, some of honda‘s transmissions are pretty fragile. I like Ford’s older stuff. Enough 250 that went almost 400,000 miles. I currently have an 18-year-old/19-year-old F150 going strong. I’m not a big fan of their eco-boost and other turbo pushed engines. But I guess that goes for all these manufacturers. Cheers, my friend, have a great day.

Our 2016 pilot at 94,000 miles started having emissions issues, and then shortly after started knocking. Dealer said it's a rod knocking and want $8,600 for switching the engine with a used one. It's had by the book maintenance and I'm the only owner. Just put in a good will request with Honda. We'll see if they own up.

The J series is one of the most robust platforms automobile history. Did you change your belt twice? The engineers designed the belts to be changed every 105K miles or 7 years. Dry rot is a real thing. I have had a belt snap on a J32A2 with zero ill effects, despite the interference design.

Buy a car - Keep it for a few years - trade it in. If you think you're gonna buy any car and put a billion miles on it, you're gonna have a bad time. Trading in your car and getting a new one is expensive but then so are repairs. I'd venture it's in the same ballpark and way less stress. Also, your bumper hitch tells me that your 100k miles and my 100k miles are probably different. If you're going to drive the shit out of your car you have to be hyper vigilant about maintenance. Even with a toyotal. The CRV is a grocery getter with occasional bad weather use. I'ts not a full time african safarimobile

One could argue, that nothing is made like it used to. I think Toyotas and Hondas are on the "above average" end, but still nothing like it used to. I would say still a safe choice choosing a Honda.

How many miles did you have on the timing built before you decided to change it? I change my timing belts at 50,000 you can do that or you can decide to go to 150,000 and walk change the belt man stop telling everybody else about something that they didn’t experience, I have Lexus in my front yard but I also have a Honda TSX and thousands of miles on it and it runs better than your new one
