Bought 2019 one. Achieving late 50 mpg ...60mpg on long journey. Blind spot due to wide front pillars. Absence of torque so gears uses a lot. Verdict for me ....a very good reliable car.
What staggers me is the amount of positive energy you give off through your videos; it feels as if you wouldn't lose your cool even if you had your feet stepped on by an elephant. A brave example of what a whole life attitude should be like.
Where do I start, that gets me in the heart, thank you - this is what Annabelle and I strive to put across now Michael has moved on, we’ve reviewed the new hybrid jazz be interested to see what you think of our latest reviews, thank you once again. *B
@@PlanetautoUK Hi, I tested one of these which was advertised from a dealer but although i liked it even with the CVT i didn’t like the way it steered like as though the castor is set too much as it wants to centre itself back too quickly into the straight ahead position and although it handles well this feeling spoils it If you know what i mean.? I wonder if the 1.3 model with the standard tyres feels better or is there a tweak to fix the sport out there to make it feel better in this dept?
Great positive review. Vast majority of other Jazz Sport 1.5 impressions are all derogatory, and just negative about the fact that it is not a mini Civic type R, or does not give the driver engagement like the similar type opposition such as Fiesta, Seat, VW Polo etc. I purchased a Jazz Sport 2018 based on absolute reliability, practicality, and equipment/features, and not on absolute Sport credentials. Sure, Honda VTEC engines need revving to get really going, that has always been the case. Honda has nearly always made mostly reliable cars, along with Toyota and similar Japanese brands. Had over 20 different motorcycles, and most were Honda's, very dependable, but I'm biased I guess. I think my Kawasaki ZX1400 engine in the Jazz might have been interesting though!
Thank you, fantastic car and wrongly stereotyped, we are just testing the latest at the moment, the new hybrid, and yes Honda love to be revved, that would have been interesting, reminds me of Fiat with ninja engines etc.
I bought one in the UK back at the end of 2018. All was well for just over 4 years. It was an okay drive. Nothing special . Bit noisy at 70 MPH (112kmh). Infotainment system was just about passable. Fuel economy was okay, and it's party trick is that it's quite spacious, with the magic seats. But at just over 4 years old, then my low pressure fuel pump went wrong. In the USA they had a recall for I'm pretty sure the same model as my one . However Honda UK seems to apparently think that my car was not affected by the major batch of faulty Denso fuel pumps. So I've got a £1200 bill spread over a few garage visits whilst the fault was trying to be found. It's really easy to find that there was a massive recall of 700,000 Honda vehicles around the age of my one about Denso low pressure fuel pump failures, but somehow I magically never got one of those, but my fuel pump has gone wrong. Honda UK are being really useless. I will NEVER EVER EVER EVER buy another Honda car or motorcycle EVER EVER EVER again. Things go wrong sometimes, but Honda UKs abysmal response to me has meant I can never ever trust Honda again.
Just had another look at this video. It is easily the most positive and comprehensive review of this car. Although it is not turbo like the new HRV Sport I still feel it is good all round car especially if you live in Celtic parts of the UK with small lanes...
I'm on my third Honda Jazz. I love them - reliable, easy to drive and very, very versatile. The only thing I've not liked in over 8 years of ownership is the slightly hard ride, and that's it really. I have a Mk2 (I've had two of this variant) and it's a great car, but a bit jiggly over our lousy roads, but great everywhere else. I will probably skip the Mk3 and buy a Mk4 in 2020.
It isn’t for everyone, but as it’s a smaller car, the suspension is a bit stiffer - mind you, we like it, as it gives the car pronounced road holding, lol! 😈
I really like your reviews. I responded to another video you posted for the Suzuki Swift. I was on the verge of getting a swift but a couple of concerns so didn't, I have now got a Honda 2018 S. Just I feel the Honda is better OK cost a bit more but worth it.Subscribed !
@@PlanetautoUK Excellent, Thanks, The S has everything I need.I like the fact that it has a normally aspirated engine , no mild hybrid less to go wrong, I could go on.I bought this using my head not my heart. I like the Honda heritage and great reliability record, hopefully I will have trouble free driving. I read that the average age of Honda Jazz drivers is 61, mature people are very wise.
Really interesting video, I’ve a Jazz SE at present but have ordered a Jazz Sports and this video has been really useful. They are really good cars in my opinion and the clever use of space is such a bonus. Thanks for making the video.
Thank you for the kind words, great to hear the video helped, they’re fun cars and being Honda engaging too with some clever bits too, we love our classic Civic.
Nodge X they are great cars, mind you we love Honda cars, reliable engines and clever interiors, we’re having lots of fun with the ej9 Civic and have the new Civic Saloon arriving tomorrow.
Excellent. I've driven the 1.6 diesel Civic and that's an amazing engine. The thing about the Jazz is while it undoubtedly as a lot of limitations dynamically, there's something about the understated quality of the machine as a whole that makes it a pleasure to own. I always look forward to driving it.
The new Sport Jazz is dynamic, down a backroad it is punchy and handles very well, it surprises a fair few people, your right the Civic 4 Door has a strong engine and is nippy enough considering its bhp. We've got a long haul in the Civic next week, can't wait to fully test it.
I have the top line 18 Fit EXL with Nav here in the US, and feel kind cheated seeing the power fold mirrors. With my small one car garage, I feel it be rather handy. The LED headlights are a nice touch too.
We have the 1.5, no 1.3. The 6 speed manual or CVT in the Base, and Sport, only CVT in Upper EX, and EXL. Honda Sensing is standard on the upper 2 trims, option on the base, and Sport, I’m thinking will be standard soon, maybe when the all new Fit (Jax) comes out in 2020. No backup sensors, but Rear View Cameras std all on models. ( this is mandated now)
@@scanrps Thank you for replying, great to hear about other ranges, the new 9 speed Auto in the new Civic is very good, feels more responsive than the CVT.
A CVT is designed to be the way it is, regardless of manufacturer, they suit a lot of people’s driving style, we prefer a faster launch, like the Jazz manual.
It’s a lot better looking than the original, which was a bit girly for me, especially when your friend buys it in that pearly pink colour. I always did like it’s practicality and it’s good to see the newer one has improved in the toy. It’s also good t see another Honda :) I wish they would bring a newer s2000 to the table :)
2005 1.2 iDsi made in Japan and now the 2013 1.4 Vtec made in the UK. I do miss the low rev 1.2 with it's 8 spark plugs. Next one will be the Mark 3 with 1.5 if I can find one because no one buys them here except me and older folks.
Good review. Looking at one for my Mom. Shame they don't do an EX Sport. As standard missing features she would want. Not discounting 1.3, but bigger engine and power will always be better to have. Specially on motorway. Looking at a spec and its says 7spd cvt?? Cvt don't have gears, or have they changed design.
I’m trading my 2017 Civic Sport for a 2019 Jazz Sport. The size of the Jazz / Fit is much more practical for the lanes and small roads where I live. Technically the Jazz Sport at 130 bhp isn’t as sporty as the Civic Sport, with its turbo, at 183 bhp. And I just hope the gear shift is as cool as the Civic Sport. However the size of the Jazz makes it a lot more fun in the twisties of south west England. The seating is easier to get in and out of too. The magic seats are great. There is the new H-RV Sport out now, which has a the same engine as the Civic Sport, but it’s nearly twice the price of the Jazz. Then there is the size of the H-RV and Civic, which might be great for longer cruises; but for local driving, with easy parking, the Jazz is better. I’ve had a couple of entry level Jazz cars, “S”, in the past, which were practical but not quite sporty enough for good overtakes, but I think this Jazz Sport 1500cc will do it. Nice positive review by the way...
Becat B - i imagine there are plenty of other choices in Oz. It’s silly for us to get too fixated about cars (and with me motorbikes). I think we have to work out what we need a car/bike to do for us, then see what we are willing to pay. I mean i wouldn’t mind a top of the range Jaguar, but even if i could afford it it might not be best to meet my needs. Mind you i like Triumph Bonnevilles lol.
Hi Chaps, I love the review. You have done a five star job. Regarding the MPG on the 6 speed Jazz manual 1500cc: Did your driving style push the car along (using mainly high revs) and what speed range resulting in the 49MPG? I was extremely impressed with this figure and am considering buying this model Jazz. What do you think the average MPG would be? The quoted figure I have from Honda is 5.8litres per 100kms for the manual which is close to your best.
Thank you David, I drove it at what you’d call a normal pace, but concentrating more on coasting rather than braking, as close to one pedal driving as possible with a manual, on B roads with inclines and declines we regularly saw around 50mpg and tgats with launches out of junctions and foot down at points.
The more I see of this car the more I’m beginning to like it. The only thing that annoys me,why no keyless entry or stop start on the sport like on the EX ?
There are tutorials on YT, however maybe ask an audio store, they fit upgraded systems and cameras, but the short answer is you can get one, good luck - keep us posted
Hi guys ..... Iv currently got a 18 plate swift attitude which I know you have reviewed.. I'm looking at either the Swift sport 19 plate OR jazz sport 19 plate ,,, what's your advice for me ,,, what's the better motor ???
Well we haven’t driven the new Swift yet , the Swift we drove was great fun, punchy, engaging as for the Jazz a different type of power, and a blast on a backroad, have you watched both our Swift Sport and Jazz Sport reviews?
Hi Ben and Michael, I love your reviews! My question is: I currently own the Honda Jazz 1.5 Sport CVT and I'm not completely happy with the noise it makes on a longer journey. I'm thinking of changing to a Skoda Fabia 1.0 tsi DSG auto. Did you prefer the Fabia when you tested it over the Jazz? Was the Fabia quieter than the Jazz? Thanks for any thoughts on this.
They are both great cars, both have great build quality and plenty of tech. Our recommendation would give the Fabia with DSG a test drive, it will likely be a more refined experience than what you would get from most CVT gearboxes, mind you the latest 9 speed. AT by Honda is a gem. Thank you for the support and we are glad you enjoyed are review 😄
@@PlanetautoUK It's actually a painted steel wheel and was purchased after a fruitless contact with Honda UK about the limitations of the repair kit provided. As i understand that this omission in now regarded as common to other makers, I plan to sell privately then buy a bike! I also am not overjoyed about the calibration system either.
Oh, do you mean the TPMS ? and yes many manufacturers opt for an inflation kit, with the exception of a few which are optional extras - Have you looked at the new hybrid model?
Hmm, we had to think about this one - best bet is to head to a dealer all masked up and actually test it, we’re thinking they’ll likely fit, currently, for how long though, that’s the question, thank you.
@@PlanetautoUK thanks for your reply that's what i was thinking as my children grow then it may become a little tight on space. A slightly different car we have been considering is the new Dacia Duster, it may not be a luxury suv but for space and practicality its hard to beat and there doesn't seem to much else out there that can match it for price either. You guys do really good car reviews, would be good to hear your verdict on the new 1.3 tce 2019 duster.
The prices are pretty unbeatable, the dealers appear good, it’s a good reliable Renault engine, roomy practical and relatively economical, feedback across the board is impressive, we drove one in 2015, even then it was good, the latest look better and are more refined too.
Planetauto If anyone can make an aerodynamic shed its Honda. My 67 year old mother replaced her Nissan Micra (pre Renault merger) with a brand new Jazz purchased in 2018. She loves it.
@@PlanetautoUK I want to buy a car next month and I am thinking weather to choose Honda Jazz the 2018 model on benzin or Toyota Yaris 2020 benzin, as well. Would you please make me a recommendation from your point of view?
