Honda Magna V65 Cold Start | First Ride Of 2021 

I was a high school senior in 1983 when the V65 was the fastest production motorcycle on the planet. Awesome bike and thanks for the video!

Just saw this after looking up specs. on these old bikes. I was lucky enough to have this and the V65 Sabre decades ago along with quite a few other older bikes. I currently have a 79 CBX and 83 1100F Super Sport that I managed to hang on to. I remember how hard the Magna accelerated but I recently rode a newer Yamaha VMax that would clearly outrun the Magna but the style of the older bikes never gets old to me.

I was 18 and 140lbs in 1991 when I bought my mint 85 for $1800 bucks. Can't believe I didn't die on that thing. I sure regret selling it now. It was beautiful like yours. I own a 1700 VMAX and a Concours 14 now. Still room in the garage for another V65. Maybe someday with the right one. Very hard to find a clean one like that. Take care of that bike!

That's the nicest V65 that I've seen since the '80's. I used to know a guy who had an '83 model I think it was, and it was nice like yours, but that was back in '88 or so. I got to ride it once, and man that thing had some serious power, but was also very comfortable and easy to ride. I loved it, but never owned one. I've had an old Sportster for 20 years, and I just recently found a '79 Honda CX500 that is very nice and clean, and should be fun for running around town.

Beautiful bike man sounds awesome. I have a 1984 Honda Shadow vt700c wish I could get a v65 Magna. There's a guy down the street that has one but he wouldn't sell it to me a few years ago thinking I was going to chop it down, and make a bobber, I said are you kidding me but he still wouldn't believe me, perhaps now when he sees my mint 84 with 16000 miles on it he might reconsider 🤗 - that's if he still has it. Just keep ethanol-free & k100 in it regular oil changes, replace all the filters/ fluids / hoses and she'll be with you a long time!

I bought a v65 new in 1983,fist one ever to destroy rear end and driveshaft.no parts available.they stripped a showroom bike to get me back on tge road.rear tire done at 1500 miles lol.loved that bike and traded it in on a 84 magna

I owned a new 84 and it was the biggest head turner on the road. Crashed it into my friends Kawi in ‘85 and that was the end of that. I remember a violent front end shake from 90 to 100 mph so cruising speed for us was 100 plus. Good days

Nice bike brother !!! Had a 83 V45 back in 87 Loved that bike I ride a '17 Breakout which is a blast in it's own right but if I were to see a clean V65, it would be in my garage next to that Harley!!

Yo, My first motor bike was a Honda Shadow. Currently I have 650 Ninja. The Shadow and the Honda Magna were two of my favorite bikes from back in the day. Jeff, I like your videos 👍

This and the 1100 Shadow still my favorite bikes. Bike insurance prices killed it for many of us that use to own/ride

i used to ride my bicycle to the Honda dealer as a kid and sit on the V65 Magna. i still can't believe the let me do that lol. it was and is a super cool bike. to put things in perspective the only bike that could finally dethrone the V65 Magna was the bonkers VMax

What a beautiful bike. Honda did everything right for the most part. I'm looking at a 1984 V65 Magna and it doesn't run currently. I'm worried about the cams, but I still want it. I'm not a mechanic, either, so I'd need my buddy to fix it. I still want one, though ! EDIT : Luna is so damn cute.

I have a nice 85 V65 I picked up last fall. It needed paint an tires, I bought it to flip but after driving it I think I’ll sell my Ducati Diavel. Paint an decals done, new Dunlop’s an waiting for spring

You want to just start it and go dont let it sit there and warm up you want the oil to get to the top of the motor asap due to a oiling issue

I don't know if you know about the oil problem they were having I'm sure you've heard about it and it needs to be bypassed

Where'd you get the highway bars? I have a v65 sabre I'm fixing up and I'm afraid if I drop it the tank or rad will hit and crack.

I had one it was my first bike I ever learned on it was nice bike had power I sold it I wish I never sold it you don’t see them around no more hard to fine also I have now a 2018 softail Harley love it man me and a couple of my friends were supposed to go sometime during the spring to go Pittsburgh to ride out there I’ll let you know when we go if you want you can ride with us show us around

Set the idle up! It should never idle below 1000, preferably 1100-1200. On choke it should idle faster.

Hey man I know I'm a year late LOL but anyways if you have any problems with that bike let me know what problem you're having and I can more than likely tell you what's wrong my buddy we call him Honda Joe he worked for Honda 83 all the way to 2000 and then after that he opened up his own shop working on Hondas so he knows almost everything about Hondas mostly gold wings but he also has three of these v65s

Wear any Levi’s jeans in particular or a black leather biker jacket with your motorcycle?

In the last thing I know it sounds stupid but he doesn't run 10 w 40 in none of his Hondas he says it's too thin he runs 20 50 only and for brand he gets regular Castrol conventional never synthetic

i always liked the look of the magna and shadows of the 80s and i still do now.. i thought i would buy a v65 so i found one on craigslist drove 75 miles to look at it. it was a little rough then i sat on it and said screw this thing now i dont want one no more just hated its stance and the handle bars . i ride a raider now and the v65 was way to off for me..
