We had a Yellow QA50 growing up late 1970s, We had a blast on it and wore out 2 sets of tires we rode it so much.

@@No-Pro No doubt. The only thing I worry about with those new Monkeys is I'm pretty sure there only a limited quantity production, So if you break a fender or something good luck finding a replacement if that's the case.

Theres plenty of companies selling spares so not really too bad....there is the odd part that takes a while to find mind you. Tyres are hard to get hold of for the QA50. Some Lighting surounds are hard to get for some of my Z50's...took me a year to find a NOS chrome light suround for a certain year.

Wish I could find one to fix up. People want crazy money around here for ones that are in rough shape. You should do a video comparing yours to a 2019 model.

Uptin Sinclaire yeah the prices keep going up all the time, good if you own one not so good if your looking to get one. It's a great little bike to restore. Thanks, Would be a good idea to compare one of the 69 z50's with the new anniversary bike from this year. Might have a word with my local Honda dealer and see if they have any in stock, cheers.

Awesome work! I'm in the process of restoring a 1970 fox trail tramp and a 1970 speedway shrike here's hoping they come out as good as your z50

Awesome job! The first real motorcycle I ever road, It was lime green though, but it got the gears turning in the early great 70s

That would have been a great little bike to get on when they just came out. Wish I could have afforded one when I was a kid, would have gave my kidney for one when I was younger hence making up for it now 😂

Hi,that looks like the original frame color.. if so could you please tell me the color or code.. I’m restoring a 1970. Thanks!
@No-Pro
@No-Pro 4 года назад
Hi, yeah the frame is as close to the original colour as I could find. Unfortunately I don't know what the colour code is. For the frame I just went to my powder coater and went through there swatch of the colours they done. I picked the one that was the closest to what the original frame would have been. It was a gunmetal grey with a clear on top for the shine.

I am doing my QA50 1970 Honda same as your one but no one can give me the paint formula for the scarlet red. Are you able to give it to me please
@No-Pro
@No-Pro 5 лет назад
Glenda Sullivan The paint code is R-2 C scarlet red. I recommend going to a Auto paint/bodyshop supplies store and take your fuel tank, tell them the code I gave you. They might not be able to find that code, if not use the underside of your fuel tank and get them to look through the colour swatches and match it as close to the underside of the tank where the paint hasn’t faded. You might want to pick something a shade or two lighter to make it pop a little. Normally the paint shops colour swatches will list Honda reds and the people there are normally quite helpful. I went for a good 2k paint as it’s harder wearing and you can flatten and polish it really well. Some paint shops can put your paint into a 2k aerosol if you don’t have a spray gun and compressor. You’ll need to use the correct air mask, ventilation etc if you use 2k as it’s extremely toxic and bad for the old lungs and respiratory system.

Any idea where to find a tank band?
@No-Pro
@No-Pro 5 лет назад
Earnest Runaway They’re pretty much impossible to find unless your lucky and find a good one come up on eBay. I contacted Honda in Japan and no joy. I found a good one on eBay with a tank and when it got shipped to me I got a notice from customs saying they’d destroyed it because the tank used to contain petrol...wasn’t very happy. After this I ended up making a model of one myself from scratch and made a mould of that then made my own from the mould out of polyurethane. Was a long process but as you can see in the video, turned out well. If you can’t find one let me know and I can work out the cost and make you one.
