Honda Monkey full Akrapovic exhaust system sound check 

Not sure if it’s just me. But I think having a really loud bike that has no poke is pointless. Hearing a R125 coming down the road just makes me shake my head-- I get that it’s safer due to cars heating you... but, I just think it’s loud for the sake of being loud. Doesn’t actually sound good.

Headache guaranteed in no time with the Akra. Your custom one sounds decent!

I think I can hear 2 sound overlays and they are a bit out of sync. I dunno, it might be just youtube.

Both are too loud. I'd get tired of it in short order.

The first sound is so brutal, hard to tell it's a 125

It is a shame that it sounds better than anything on the ninja 400

I prefer the Akra, the custom one sounds weird to me. It's like a mixture of no header sound with an exhaust

I also have the Akrapovic exhaust. I love the look of it and the sound. But you are right it is f*$^king loud! Always wear earplugs now. But I will change it by putting two small pieces of steel in the pipe. Hope that that keeps the volume down a little.

I like the Akro one better. The custom one is too bassy and "fart" sounding. I like the akropavich one better. I also i think it looks better too.

I like stock, you can ride anywhere with it. Even on beaches, bicycle lanes etc. So quiet that does not annoy anyone.

The custom Acra is a probable, even so this still could do with base noise tuning. But this system you've got on here is anything but good. The less back pressure in this case produces less power, less mid range, less economic run round in town with the fart box.

Royal Jordanian: thank you for that. You have convinced me that the standard exhuast system is perfect. I find it hilarious how all these little companies knock up these exhaust systems when Honda have a massive research and development department and spend fortunes designing and developing components.

The frequencies of your custom one is too deep for my ears, it's no joke hurting me, on the video at least, would like to hear it in real life.

I like the sound of the Titanium one, but the Original/ Akra heatshield looks better in my opinion(wold be perfect in a titanium finish). The heatshield on the original Monkey also was pretty big.

I love both of them to be fair. I have a TYGA maggot on my Monkey, bit of a marmite exhaust looks wise (obviously I love it) baffle out it sounds very similar to the Akra but I find it just too loud commuting so I have the baffle in which gives a nice increase over standard but not OTT

Small engines need more silencing since they spend all their time at the higher revs. I like the double barrel look well enough but, in this case one tube should be plugged and used a a resonator/muffler for the other in a feed back design.

If I had enough money, i`d probably also buy a monkey as a second bike :) its a shame that this exhaust is illegal in germany :(

I have the akrapovic on my monkey I love it, especially with the carbon heat shield.

Having heard both the custom exhaust and the Akra from proper set of headphones i am having a really hard time choosing between the two. I think the Akra has a darker tone to it and the custom sound a bit sharper when riding. On the side stand i would say the opposite. Then the custom one sounds much more sophisticated and balanced. But then again, i am not on the seat and haven;t got a crashhelmet on ;-). I do however think that the custom exhaust had the edge here. The looks are better and given the fact that a lot of effort and creativity have gotten into it makes me choose the custom. Just one question though: does the Akra come with baffles? OnUpon first glance i could not see any sings of dB killers. In the Mp3 scene many roders take out just on baffle and leave the other one in and that sounds really good but not too loud. How about that with this Akra system? Ride Safe

It's weird. I like the custom one over the Akra when stationary but the Akra sounds better when moving. I reckon they'd both sound similar if the Akra was made out of titanium though.

As much as my motto is," loud pipes saves lives", and i am a huge fan of straight pipes on my Harley, i would say your Monkey sounds better with your custom exhaust, a full rich sound that lets people know you are near without that obnoxious ear banging sound... Good choice.. Lol, sounds like a wine tasting....😉

RJ I think you used the wrong sound check clip of your custom exhaust. You used the one from before you adjusted the silencer packing.

To be honest - I don't like both of them. Too agressive for my taste. Soundwise my fav would still be the yoshi. But the yoshi design is horrible, imho. Plus, I am pretty happy with the original exhaust - design is flawless, and sound not that bad either. Just my two cents.

The trouble with all these after market exhausts is that in doing away with the catalytic converter, they badly pollute the atmosphere, and in these pollution conscious times that is unjustifiable just coz they sound good and look bling. If every car driver did the same thing we’d all be choking on the exhaust fumes. So a slip on muffler may be ok, but don’t take the cat off. We all need to think of others too. Honda know what they are doing and in stock form everything works well, and gives great mpg with very very little pollution. The bike puts out carbon dioxide mostly, as opposed to nasty carbon monoxide = poisonous, and ozone destroying. I understand the temptation of a new exhaust mod, but everyone needs to think it through more. Do you need it that bad?

Hey man, got a question for you. Have you had to change the chain and sprockets on the Nuda? If so, where did you get them? Having trouble finding some. Called one dealer and they hadn't even heard of the Nuda. 😂

Hard to believe that sound is coming from a 125 I'd like to get a Honda Monkey, but where I live is all interstate and large highway travel. I'd get run over. Lol

new exhausts will quiet down after a couple of thousand kms and sound much nicer, keep that in mind too
