I'm a fellow Puget Sound NC750X rider and have done some similar things to mine. I stuck with OEM seat but added spacers under the front to raise it up. Works great for cheap solution. Those of us who ride in this rainforest have to take water and cold seriously. We can ride year round, but it's 40 degrees for many months of the year. I use the Oxford heated grips but know people like their heated gloves. You can add an aquarium thermometer right below the dash in a perfect little blank spot since the bike doesn't show ambient. I use grip puppies too to avoid grasping cold grips. My NC is a manual because I really enjoy shifting. A remarkably versatile little engine. I use my NC for my short commute, and rely on my S1000XR for my 800 mile days around the West.

Nice! A fellow PNW NC750X rider! I agree with everything you said. The NC is a great one bike all rounder but is also perfect for a 2 bike garage. Use the NC as the workhorse commuter and then a second bike for whatever other type of riding. Personally I do longer trips on my NC because its so dang comfortable and easy with storage but my 2nd bike is an XSR900 for fun, speed, and pure aesthetics.

I know what you mean about the center stand install. I had to use a 2x4 to keep the motorcycle from sliding even with brake on while using a ratchet strap! 😮 I didn’t feel good about that, but didn’t get any injuries out of it or have to pay a Honda dealer to put it on!

Nice mods and bike. Seems like you researched a lot for this bike. Do you happen to know if you can get a aftermarket TFT screen to replace the LCD screen? LCD seems really outdated in compared symptom almost any other bike.
@TheDreamcycles
@TheDreamcycles 6 месяцев назад
Thanks. I did a fair amount of research in a short amount of time because I wanted to dial in all the mods before winter. But unfortunately I don't know anything about a TFT replacement screen. I don't mind the LCD but that might be because I've never had a TFT before. Luckily it doesn't affect my enjoyment of the bike. Good luck with your search though!

I like what you have done for your NC750. I have a 2021 model and put the taller Honda windshield on it, but I think the windshield you got may be taller. Does it keep most of the air off your head? Thanks
@TheDreamcycles
@TheDreamcycles 7 месяцев назад
Thanks. I never tried the Honda OEM touring screen but yes this 24" madstaad is taller and it just barely keeps all the air off my helmet so a shorter screen wouldn't cut it for me.

Can relate to using a ratchet strap while installing a centre stand. Interesting key thingy for the frunk. Did you have trouble getting the cables adjusted for the 2 inch riser?
@TheDreamcycles
@TheDreamcycles 7 месяцев назад
Right!! Glad I'm not the only one. That ratchet strap and spring could have badly bruised a body part or taken my eye out if I slipped. So the 2" bar risers are an ordeal. Not gonna lie. Took me about 6 hours and half of that is simply removing and reinstalling body panels. The left hand cables have enough slack if you slide them to slightly different spots but then on the right side, in order to have enough cable slack you have to redirect the right brake reservoir cable from over the triple tree to under the triple tree by threading it through the triple tree and it only fits at a particular angle when the right brake lever is removed. Then after you thread it through, there's a LOT more slack and you can reinstall the right brake reservoir onto the handlebar, reattach the brake lever and voila. That is the pain in the ass but once it's done then its rock solid and 100% safe. As long as you tighten all bolts well and then re tighten again if necessary after a few days of riding.

@@TheDreamcycles I put in a cheap Amazon one and it works pretty well. I just used that stiffer velcro stuff to lock it into the underside of the frunk lid in one of the concavities. Still fits my helmet and checking pressure is easy when I open it up to grab my gloves or whatever at every stop.

별을 보려면 일정한 어둠이 필요하다 … A certain darkness is needed to see the stars. I wanted to know if it would sound as nice in Korean. I have a feeling the NC750 could be my forever bike. Still would like to see what biles will be given the Honda e-clutch mod in the future.
@TheDreamcycles
@TheDreamcycles 7 месяцев назад
I'm glad you like that quote. I hope it sounds as good in Korean. The e-clutch is really interesting. So far it's just on the cb650r and cbr650. It seems to be one step above an up/down quickshifter but not all the way automatic like the DCT. Personally I would still take the DCT but if I had a choice between up/down quickshifter and e clutch then I would choose the e clutch. There's no such thing as the perfect bike but for me, if I could have only one bike to do everything from quick grocery shopping in the city, to commuting daily, to touring across the country then the NC750x is as close as it gets and that's why it's my forever bike.
@SethJayson
@SethJayson 7 месяцев назад
been considering that seat, but also a domestic re-do. I bought a spare stock seat to send someone if they want a pan. How much did you need to do to get those long handlebar extenders working with the cables and hoses?
@TheDreamcycles
@TheDreamcycles 7 месяцев назад
No need to get new cables. And I can highly recommend the custom seat from Top Sellerie. Its very professional and fits perfectly and has a very thoughtful design with the lower back rest but I'm sure a domestic reupholsterer could do a good job too.
@SethJayson
@SethJayson 7 месяцев назад
@@TheDreamcycles Thanks for that description. I'd read some of that before. On the NC700 forums there are also guys who said the 2" were no big deal at all to put on the newer DCT. Can it be these are being delivered with variable cable lengths? I have some 30mm up 20mm back risers that seem like they will go w/o much more than unhooking cables from tiedowns, but I didn't install them yet. I mocked them up and cables seemed tight-ish. If I get that selle tall seat I'll need to. I plotted the geometry and the 30 / 20 risers get me 14.5mm lower than the straight 50mm would. (Can't find any 50s on ebay or aliexpress these days. They're so cheap I'd buy them just in case.) Back to the seat, the domestic guys, I just checked have raised prices again. They want $550 to $750 just to redo the front with an existing seat pan. That's quite a lot. Looks like they also tend to be widening them substantially to fit larger US backsides (which I don't have.) I will probably go with the Top Sellerie. I'm 6'3" with long legs and didn't really do any comfort mods on my bike yet. Thought my legs would be sore because they're folded pretty tight, but when riding it doesn't seem to bug me. Only complaint is butt soreness after a while, but I notice I get that anywhere else as well, car, stadium padded chair, folding camping chair... I've only ridden up to like 250m / day in hour-ish shifts, and my butt was fine, better after I put a 3d mesh pad on it that just breathed a little bit. Does that quilted cover pattern seem to allow for any airflow below?

@TheDreamcycles
@TheDreamcycles Месяц назад
Hey! Thanks for watching! So, to be honest, I don't have a lot of opinions about tires. I've had 8 different bikes and never found a set of tires that I didn't like but it all depends on the terrain you're on. My CB750X has Metzeler Tourrance Next tires and they have been just fine. On previous bikes I have opted for Michelin Road tires as they seem to be good with the damper conditions in Seattle. That's all I can really say. Sorry but thanks for watching!

Hello, does the navigation holder shake when you ride your motorcycle? Would you recommend it? (02:20)
@TheDreamcycles
@TheDreamcycles 3 месяца назад
No, it doesn't shake. The navigation bar which is part of the Madstaad wind screen fitting is super solid. The only thing that wobbles a little bit is the anti-vibration quad lock charger which ironically it is designed to do to prevent the high frequency micro vibrations that can occur. But to answer your question, no, it doesn't shake.

@@TheDreamcycles YSS makes a linear steering damper for the 2022 Honda CB500X and it mounts right next to the fork and in front of the fuel tank, two mounting bolts there and two mounting bolts on the handlebars and damper hooked up to handlebar. Looks like a non-invasive install job. Hopefully they will make one for the NC750X soon, it could mount in the same place. I saw a guy crash on RU-vid because he bounced off the curb and bike did the tank slapping enough to throw rider off. Hopefully a damper can reduce that type of crash.
