This video is an explanation of what modifications have already been completed on my new Honda NX500, including the Rally Raid Level 2 rear suspension which is the first NX500 in the UK to be converted. The bike has only been on the road for two days at this point with about a 100 miles on the clock.
NB. Where i refer to height increase with fitting of RR Suspension, this is about 20mm.
All videos on the NX500 can be seen here:

Videos about my previous bike, the Honda CB500X, can be found here:

It never ceases to amaze me how quickly people " modify" a brand-new bike. He himself says he has only ridden the bike 100 miles yet he's already performed 3 modifications.

They were done before collection, the dealership kindly fitted gear I already had to the new bike as part of the deal 😊

I think that’s a wise move taking your time. I went headlong into modifying my 2023 CB500x with some expensive mods from various aftermarket suppliers and soon realised most of them had made things worse. I had engine bars that introduced vibrations and matching hand guards / bar ends that did the same. ( to the point I had numb forearms after a two hour ride) I also had a belly pan (not RR) you know the one 😉 the one that makes a whooshing noise once fitted and reduces ground clearance 😂. I spent over £550 on various bits and have since removed them all, sold them all on eBay and the bike feels much better stock. I have learnt an expensive but worthwhile lesson, Honda are the experts, they know what they are doing! I even removed my R&G exhaust hanger because it didn’t use a rubber mount like the OEM and I found that that made vibrations worse also, great weight saving but ride comfort is always going to be a priority for me. Fascinated to see how you get on with the NX mods. For me, I have learnt that sometimes less is more.

Interesting to read this. I’ve got a 2019 model. I watched hundreds of videos on modifications and settled for, Oxford heated grips, radiator guard, bark busters, grip puppies, Givi trekker outback top box, Givi removable soft luggage rack, pyramid front fender extender and Puig screen extender. And that is as far as I’ll go. I did a long tour of Scandinavia and the Alps last summer and I won’t be adding any more. Delighted with the bike and none of the mods have detracted from its usability and comfort.

@@thecampingbiker791 I’m not saying all mods are bad of course, very happy with my Oxford heated grips. I also have Honda knuckle guards, 12v socket and smoked screen, all OEM aftermarket. If I were going to fit crash guards again I would buy the Honda ones. The price put me off at first but I believe they mount differently to the SW and Givi ones and I think thats for good reason. I saw an NX with black Honda crash guards at my dealer and it looked very nice with additional spots mounted. 👍

Nice, looking forward to seeing what you do. The exhaust certainly seems a good upgrade, mostly for the weight saving. I've got soft panniers and trying to equalise the weight, with a 4.1Kg exhaust is not so easy. I've already put bar risers, barkbusters and SW motech pegs on it as I found the standing position a bit awkward. It's definitely improved it in terms of posture both standing and sitting for me. But I do feel more vibes in the pegs now (although I run them without the rubber). After my escapades in the mud I've got the RallyRaid sump guard ready to be fitted.

I’m taking time to consider what I want from the bike this time, still have all the RR gear from the 500X and indeed just had the engine guard re powder coated as it was battered (lovely new looking now) Exhaust is a good way of reducing weight and bulk along with removing rear foot pegs. The other things that weigh a lot are the rear grab rails, it’s surprising how heavy all that removed is! The definite parts I’m going to fit are RR front fork kit, Barkbusters, RR Foot pegs (pending powder coating) R&G Engine Case Covers, and USB/Voltmeter socket. Still thinking about the rest of the RR gear but probably will 👍🏻

Hi , i am looking at the rr level 2 for my nx 500. I want something sitff / sportier. My use will be on tarmac alone. Wanted to get your inputs on the rr level 2 - do you notice a difference on the road / tarmac?
@thecampingbiker791
@thecampingbiker791 2 месяца назад
In short, yes you would very much notice the difference, even just on the tarmac….they leave the bike very much more planted on the road and with the pre load adjuster fitted they give really good flexibility on adjustment, allowing for a more spirited ride! So, having said all that I’ve just test rode the NX yesterday with standard suspension and it felt much better than my previous 2019 500X prior to fitting the RR suspension, however not to the standard of the RR suspension. I’d finally say that if you have the money and want a sportier ride it will really transform the bike, however for those not to worried about that the standard set up is fine….in truth once you’ve had these bikes with RR suspension you could not go back to standard. Hope that’s useful and thanks for watching

@thecampingbiker791 3 месяца назад
Thank you…I’m still doing so, just did 150 miles today and so now at about 250 miles total.. For first 500 miles I’m keeping below 5k revs and not going on motorways, using mostly main road, occasional dual carriageways and plenty of back roads…key being using plenty of variety in speed, gears, and careful breaking in of tyres and brakes. To be honest just sticking mostly to back roads does the job automatically.. as I approach 500 miles I’ll build up with a bit of shorter motorway and gradually increasing speed/revs.

keep only low rpm is a very common mistake, engine should be used across his whole rpm range BUT with smooth throttleand NO wide open throttle, DONT lung the engine at low rpm and high gears, DONT ride at the same rpm for long time. rev the engine with low gears but slowly and smootly

my day 1 modification on my nx500 was windscreen removal... because my height of 184 cm is incompatible with the buffeting against my helmet caused by the wind/riding around 100 kmh but im quite disappointed by the handlebar vibrations at high rpm, quite strange since my previous cb300r was single cylinder but 100% vibration free

What exactly is the improvement of fitting a new exhaust?
@thecampingbiker791
@thecampingbiker791 15 дней назад
@@pyramidsinegypt for me personally it’s mainly the bulk of original, the compactness of new plus, but not as important, the big weight reduction.. @@thecampingbiker791Hello, no, it was a serious question. I hadn't considered weight and keeping the original safe. It is vibrant. Especially above 6k revs. Up to 6k the vibes are gentle on the footpegs. Above that they become more intense and vibes appear on the handlebars. As you close the throttle and the revs go down, you get weird vibes between your legs... right where your manhood is. 😅😅…but that happens only when revs go down from around redline. Hope it helps!
