Having owned a 2014 CB500x and recently gone back after bigger bikes to a new 2023 CB500x I am still blown away by the all round capabilities of these machines. These are not just first bikes they are all the bike most people really need. Personally I like the looks of the current model, especially the gold forks, the new NX has some nice spec additions with the TFT screen and Traction control but I don’t love the look of the new NX. If they had put some spoked rims on this as stock I think it would have massively improved the look. Thanks Sven for another informative video, love your channel.
It's a very good looking bike. I've absolutely loved my '22 500X so far. A minor annoyance is that 100% of the marketing material for both bikes shows the wheel stripes but I don't think any actually come with it. Still a near-perfect all-rounder for me.
I think that means that Trasnalp and NC750X will also get facelift in 2025 to look somewhat like this. Even currently the light seems to be same between CB500X, NC750X and Transalp. I hope backlit switches will be also transferred.
Thanks Sven. You are the main reason i bought a Honda CB 500 x. And i like it a lot (Apart from the seat). Hope ill find a aftermarket seat for it in 2024 :).
I'm still on 2017 model with around 15000 miles on it. It is my go to bike out of four in the stable. 2018 Super Tenere caught up with mileage but mainly because I take it on long distance trips (1000+ miles) and I'm working from home so I don't ride as much as I used to. I agree about it being best or at around very top of all available motorcycles. I tried more than 60 bikes. There are better performing or better specific purpose bikes but, very few that make as much sense as 500x.
Think I'll be trading in my Tiger Sport 660 for a new NX500. Ts is a good bike, but the local dealer experience with Triumph has been less than satisfactory.
Traction control on a 48 bhp bike ? Seems pointless to me. Plastic handguards are good for nothing other than deflecting the wind. TFT screen doesn’t excite me either, the old one tells me everything I need to know. I don’t like the front end looks either and will be hanging onto my CB500x for foreseeable future.
Traction control is not such a bad idea. I was sliding my 2017 on dry asphalt on traffic lights and got in couple scatchy situations in the rain. Now, changing oem Dunlops with some cheap Metzelers made a world of difference. Really had to abuse the brake to slide even on wet road with Metz. Got some Pirellis on sale for next round. Got over 10k miles on current tires.
Sven, do you know if this has the same water pump as the CB500X? I was just curious as those were hit or miss with leakage defects. Wondering if Honda fixed that with their new model or not? Also, do you feel the NX is something you'd transition too vs a CB500X based on the new changes?
I think the engine is similar to the old one except the tuning, but of course if the pump have had many issues they may have done something, Im not sure. Yes I would choose the new one, I like the new design 😀
You can see there are much more than 5 spokes on the wheels yet everyone is quoting this Honda little prank…😂😂 If the suspension is indeed stiffer it’s already worth the extra $100
Honda should have redesigned the NX500 seat and also reposition the exhaust instead of retaining the one from cb500x. The front bit looks edgy, the rear bits looks out of place.
Looks is always something different in everyone's eyes. :-) Probably they don't change the look already in 2025....(except colors) I think you will have to wait longer. :-o
