The new 2024 Honda NX500 is the sequel to one of my favorite beginner adventure bikes of all time, the Honda CB500X. I have stated many times that I wish the Honda CB500X was my first motorcycle. I have a ton of appreciation for how smooth and easy to ride it is and I'm happy to report that after some seat time on the new Honda NX500, it is indeed a worth successor to the Honda CB 500x. The Honda NX 500 isn't a massive upgrade from the 500X, but it adds enough new features and modern concessions to create an even more compelling package for both new adventure bike riders and experienced motorcyclists alike.

I had a 2022 CB500X but sold it because I needed a room in my garage for another bike. It felt like a huge sacrifice. To everyone considering the NX500, you will not regret it. The bike is everything Ben says and a lot more.

I'm probably moving to Bend in a couple of months and I'm planning on getting my first bike ASAP after that. Really tempted by one of these, I think it's pretty much down to an NX500 or a 300L Rally, or *maybe* the Himalayan 450 but I like the idea of Honda reliability. I just wish the NX came in the cooler colors they get in Europe, I'd buy a red one in a heartbeat, and as a longer shot that Honda would do an "Adventure Sports" version or something with wire wheels, skid plate, etc.

Been riding this bike since February. It's an awesome bike, but with my 6'2", my knees need a little more room. Waiting for Eicma to see what Honda will do with the Transalp. Might be my next bike if they add tubeless.

Now that you've ridden the Ibex 450, which would you say is the better value? I know the honda name has reliability tied to it, and the bike is proven, but everything looks so good on the ibex. I've been interested in both for a long time and after your reviews on each i am still very undecided.

You didnt offer any of the info i need to make an informed decision past running over specs from a sheet or was obviously brought over from the other bike. Nothing about offroad or ground clearance, Top speed/shake, highway merging or Gearing changes from pre 2019, then pre NX to now or Pricing! This was a Glow Up! I like hearing nice things about what i want….i Need to Hear the Criticism Heavy Handed or the obvious perks you get will affect my ability to buy because you cant/wont discern the two

From what I recall this bike came out before the transalp, meaning honda disregarded whatever they did here and made the transalp worse on purpose

God, I hate Honda styling. It's like the motorcycle equivalent of a boring commuter car. And what's with the matte black color scheme on every American Honda now? What happened to red? Yellow, blue, white... anything! Honda currently has the most unsexy, passionless lineup of motorcycles ever built. Bikes no woman would ever want to jump on the back of. Bikes for pencil-pushers and bean counters. All engineering and no soul. I would pick a Royal Enfield Himalayan over this any day of the week. Or the Triumph 400x. Or the Svartpilen 401. Even though the Honda is a better bike. I imagine the design department at Honda is a bunch of depressed Emo pod-people, working in a dark room with the shades drawn, smoking cigarettes, drinking coffee and slurping Ramen noodles. Never going outside or speaking to anyone. Just staring into their computers for hours on end. Or maybe it's all done by AI? Part of the reason motorcycling is dying and young people aren't getting into it is because no 11 year old boy is seeing one of these parked in his neighborhood and falling in love with it, the way we did with the sexy motorbikes and sports cars of yesteryear.
