Honda Odyssey Transmission, P0730, P0740, P0780. 

Dude is a wizard...If I tore a transmission that far down I can promise you that I would never get it to function properly again.

It's not a "neglecting to change the fluid" issue. Most Honda transmissions of this era have an internal filter which can't be changed in the field. When those clutches start wearing prematurely, it clogs all the filters up and the unit fails. Those transmissions have kept a lot of transmission shops busy and made those cars and vans almost worthless now.

That is insane I quit big ups to you man I can’t wrap my head around all this madnesses.

Nice....Could you just eliminate the filters in the valve body on rebuilding and put an inline filter in series with transmission cooler return line from radiator.?

Been a tech for Honda for 8 years Just rebuilt my first trans, 2002 Honda Civic lx bmxa. Installed the transstar master kit/ torque converter and even installed the translab updated valve body kit. Literally torqued every bolt to spec and replaced every o ring ,used the special brushes to clean every valve body core. Seems to shift perfect but I’m getting a p0740 code. Honda doesn’t give me any diagnostics besides replace linear valve a &b , and torque converter shift solenoid. (Which I replaced both of them). Clear dtc and returns after driving 15 seconds at 50mph

Just A FYI if Anyone changes or Takes apart the Transmission from The Engine Make Sure All Plugs Are Reconnected The Same Im Talking Sensors Shift sensors .Some Sencers Look The Same And Can Be Confused . MY CAR WAS RECENTLY TAKEN TO A MECHANIC FOR a Rear Main Seal Leak WHEN I GOT MY CAR BACK MY CAR WASNOT RUNNING RIGHT MY MY ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON MY VSI LIGHT WAS AND MY HAZARD LIGHT WAS ON ,MY CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS ANYMORE TOOK MY CAR BACK TO THE SHOP THEY KEPT MY CAR FOR 2 WEEKS TO JUST TO TELL ME MY TRANNY IS NO GOOD WOW WAS PERFECTLY DRIVING BEFORE I CAME HERE. I ASKED THE MECHANIC FOR THE CODE THAT POPES UP HE GAVE ME P0780 I WAS SO PISS THAT I TOLD HIM IM TAKING HIM TO COURT AND TOOK MY CAR HOME ,I EVALUATED MY CAR LIKE A CURIOUS AMERICAN I AM AND TOOK MY BATTERY OUT TO GET DEEPER INSIDE MY TRANNY, WENT ON RU-vid FOUND OUT THAT P0780 DOSENT SPECIFY WHATS THE PROBLEM COULD BE ANYTHING , Scene Other Video WHERE A MECHANIC SAID HE CHANGED 3 TRANNYs AND STILL SAME PROBLEM P0780 HE FIGURED IT OUT EVENTUALLY. HE HAD MISCONNECTED THE WRONG SENSORS He flipped Them And The Check ENGINE LIGHT CAME OFF VSI LIGHT CAME OFF HAZARD LIGHT OFF CAME AND THE CAR WAS SHIFTING .I SAID WOW LET ME TRY THIS TO MY CAR ACURA 2001 CL TYPE S DID THE SAME THING AND MY CAR WAS FIXED. WTF ARE U SERIOUS THE STUPID MECHANIC SAID MY TRANNY IS DONE WHAT A PIECE OF SHIT HE IS . NOW IM SUING HIS WHOLE COMPANY FOR SCAMMING ME AND POSSIBLY OTHERS AS WELL . Hiram, Great videos! What would be the problem on a B7TA when the transmission randomly shifts into neutral. And sometimes when placed in any gear it will just rev. However when the transmission finally does go into gear it has zero slippage in all gears. Thanks for the help.

Do you know if a failed dual linear shift solenoid would cause code P0470 ? I tested my TCC solenoids and their fine (reads 15 oms of resistance each and click) but the dual linear solenoid does nothing, won't click with 12 volts applied or show anything on my multi meter for resistance. The car is a 2001 honda odyssey, that drove fine until a CEL came on. Started slipping through all forward gears instantly. Also bangs into gear now. Thanks

Is there any point in cleaning the shift solenoid screens for preventative maintenance? Or does that just give you warning that $$ will be spent soon?

I got the transs rebuilt a month ago, vecause 2-3 gears had a shutter, after it got rebuilt the same problem was there. No codes no check engine light on, D4 never blinks or comes on. I put the new speed sensor on last night and drove it for 15 min. I noticeced that the speedometer will only kick on at 30 mile an hour. Then i ended up having no forward gears but revers works.

What if I get all these codes on my 2001 accord ex? Is there anything I can do about it?

Hi Hiram, I really appreciate your videos. I have a 2003 Odyssey that is on it's second transmission. I have installed a large oil cooler, I am replacing the fluid every 15 - 20k miles, and I replace that small black filter on the top of the transmission every 30k miles. The transmission was replaced by the dealer on a recall/warranty in about 2010. Two questions: do you think this new transmission will have any of the upgrades you talk about regarding clutch material and so extend the life of the transmission? And will the hyper oil changes I am doing and large cooler help extend the life? Is this thing just a lost cause?

Po740 I had a corroded connection at the plug. Use electrical contact cleaner and it fix the issue

So Hiram, I have a P0780 trbl code on my obd2 scanner. Drive a 99 gmc suburban 4L60e tranny. I have no check engine light and have a hard shift from 1st to 2nd and prob. 2nd 3rd as well...(been a while since last drive) 'Bout to order shift solenoid A&B. What would you replace first. thanx

Question, if the screens are clogged could this cause, the drive to slip in 2nd gear, like the first gear is awesome, then when it tries to go into 2nd gear, it seems like it pops into neutral for a second and then you jerk forward once you get into 2nd gear. also reverse most of the time doesn't want to initiate, and 4th gear doesn't seem to want to engage ever. this use to be my buddys van and the transmission was rebuilt 30-40k miles ago, could this be something like a clogged screen or filter, not allowing adequate trans fluid pressure to the clutch packs? I guess its safe to say the solenoids are good because I don't have drive flashing

After rebuilt appear code po730, but after install a transmission i put wrong a speed sensor and gets broken inside that can clogging the lines to apears this code , because i test the solenoid before i put back, or can be a line clogged at entrance of solenoids, thinking and remove and then start de van to see if coming out a pessure do you tink its good idea, tank for answer.

My counter shaft speed sensor is broken will that stiil act to my main concern

I have a 2000 crv. I got the p0740 code. All gears shift fine, but once the check engine light comes on, the car struggles going past 60 mph. At times it works excellent and even goes past 80 mph Am I looking for a new transmission? Or just replace these sensors going on to the transmission?

my 2005 Honda odyssey has a ttc code, I had to drive it in neutral home.

Excellent videos. I just rebuilt 01' Honda accord 4 cylinder transmission. Everything was working fine for about three days then while I driving it wouldn't shift into second gear, now seems like its stuck in 3rd or 4th. Immediately check engine came on and d4 flashing. Pulled code and got the p0780. Any guess as to what it could be? Do the shift solenoids go bad and cause that big of a failure?

04 civic. Shift when engine is cold. Shift slow when warm. No shift when hot, just bit in reverse. Tried drain n fill. No improvement. Any suggestion?

Question, if I do the rebuild, I have heard horror stories of how it keeps happening, even after an bigger or additoinal cooler, consistent fluid changes, babying it in other words. Should I just save the money and throw the car away, or put the bucks into it, treating it well and thinking this wont rear it's ugly head again. hi I'm getting codes p1750 p0780 p0730, I have the honda pilot which I believe has the same engine. it seems to want to not accelerate and kinda thumps and not want to go anywhere for a couple seconds , it's does not rev up it just kinda stalls without turning off. it's been getting worse because it just used to happen in the morning now it's starting to do it more often , any idea what it could be? any help would be great if just can't afford to overhaul a trans at the moment thanks

I have a 03 odyssey l was driving it and l was accelerating a bit l eased of the pedal as l was going down a slite hill ,when l press the pedal again it did not respond as if it went netural when l pulled over and pop the hood transmission fluid was all over that area. I had to pull it home . Howeve,r when the engine is cold it will drive, but as soon as it heats up it does not move .

Just to point out... P0740 doesn't actually says your Solenoid is bad (Well at least not 98.9% of the Time) on these 1st Gen 5-Speed Honda trans! Its actually a design flaw and to resume your trans is going out and will start to slip in little to no time.. So time to replace those burned up clutch packages! I would recommend to stay out of: Acura TL/CL Auto 2000-2003, Accord V6 2000-2004, Oddysey 2000-2004, Acura MDX 2001-2003 which all shares the same Variation of the B7WA transmission = CRAP.

I have an accord with p0700 and p0780 .Is there a chance that taking off the shift solenoid and cleaning it, I can get the car to stop giving that code? The code seems to pop up when i first start driving in the morning. The "D" will start flashing and the car doesn't want to shift correctly until it warms up. My car has been hesitating to go back down to 1st gear when I come to a traffic light for over a year now also.

I am working on a 2003 Honda Odyssey and it has P0730 code. It drives just fine and shifting is not an issue. Hi..., how can you tell that its slipping? Symptoms? Reason being I just got mine done and it tries to keep going after I press the brakes. The rebuilder keeps saying mine is fine. Plus I hear a very large click sometimes. When I put it in reverse. The motor mounts and tranny mount are all new...thxs
