My awe for scooters and small displacement bikes in general definitely increased after i discovered your channel lol. Easy and comfortable to ride,storage provided,economical as heck,easy to maintain,and they have a good public image generally(especially the Hondas,people seem to love cute little Hondas for some reason,even the non bike enthusiasts)

I'll never understand why more people don't drive these around that live in bigger cities in the US. They're super cheap, easy to drive, get a billion miles to the gallon, and are super convenient for parking and navigating traffic.

Genuine question: but would it not be just like getting stuck in traffic but with scooters if everyone has one? I'm thinking about getting one (a scooter) because I'm living in houston and would want not to get stuck in traffic with the other cars😂

Howdy, Jerry, and thanks for the feedback! The PCX160 looks like a great scoot. I'm hoping that we see the new ADV160 here in the USA next year. If that happens, then I'll probably upgrade my PCX150 to that; otherwise, I might trade up for the PCX160 to get the upgraded engine and digital dash. I'm really hoping that we get the ADV350 here in the States, but that's a long shot... keeping my fingers crossed! Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

If your sight glass gets cloudy, you can clear it up by rubbing it strongly with toothpaste and baking soda on a sponge. That will remove the oxidized layer of plastic, then you can rinse it off with water, dry it, and then weather seal it with a chapstick to prevent it from clouding up again for a while. Just make sure to buff the glass good after chapsticking it to so that the wax doesn't just cloud the sightglass again.

Always fun to share your commute. I’ve been riding the Super Cub to my “retirement” job, (four days a week RSO at a shooting range). We’re in monsoon season here so I chicken out and drive when the T-storms are a high probability. The last .7 mile on the commute and the fist .7 mile on the way home is a washboarded gravel road that gets very sketchy if it rains. It’s always more fun and much better fuel economy if I can ride.

I've been wanting the PCX for the longest time. But alas, my current situation in life meant I couldn't support it financially. Yes, technically, I could finance it and pay it in installments. But within the next few months, I know that my life will be turbulent. So I cave in and decided to buy a used Yamaha Lexi instead. It's just barely fit within my budget so that I could buy it outright. The deal hasn't been done yet, I'm still hoping to find a used 2018 model PCX or maybe even a 2015 model, but those are rare here. Maybe one day.... Sorry that this turns out to be a sob story, I just feel that I had to get it out.

Bought my *2022 ADV150* back in April. I LOVE MY SCOOT, BUT here are a few things that bug me: • We have a 4-lane highway between towns that I frequent with a 65mph speed limit. I’m always paranoid/uncomfortable whilst riding the 4-lane because I’m at 100% throttle going 63-65, so I’m constantly checking my mirrors to ensure I’m not gonna get plowed down. • NO WIND PROTECTION! Seriously Honda, what were you thinking putting such a useless wind screen on the ADV?! If the winds blowing even 10mph, expect to get blown all over the road bc the ADV isn’t heavy. I’m not a heavy chick so it’s frustrating. *I’m trading it in next year for the *PCX 160* !! I need the extra boost on the highways & I’m sure I’ll install a new wind screen. I get 83MPG with my ADV, like I said I love it, but there’s a few things I’d change! The PCX160 can go up to 75-78mph (according to my friend who has one) & that’s the power I’m looking for!
@QuasiMotard
@QuasiMotard 2 года назад
Agreed... all very good points! I touched on most of those during my ADV150 vs PCX150 comparison video last year: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zZBtuv_xmo4.html . Kevin upgraded several items on that ADV150, including the windscreen and the variator, so he has better top speed and economy now. You might want to research the new ADV160 that reportedly coming to the USA next year. It has the new 160cc 4-valve engine, and slightly revised ergonomics (e.g., narrower center/waist, wider leg shield, revised handlebar position, and a lower seat height). I'm still hoping that the ADV350 will eventually come to the USA, but I'll probably upgrade my PCX to the ADV160 while I wait. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

Those deflector s work well. Think you would be better off with the mra with 2 black clips either side. The ones with the big alloy clamp in the middle work but the weight on that screen I think will make it flap about a lot. Agreed... we have tons of those big-ego-little-schwanz riders here in the States, too! 🤣 Everything always seems to be "bigger + faster = better" in everybody's minds these days. I enjoy slowing down and enjoying the scenery on my journeys rather than racing to the other end. I wonder if the EU/UK tiered licensing structure has something to do with the ego and condescension toward smaller bikes/scoots. Small bikes are deemed to be learner machines saddled by newbies that haven't "earned their wings" yet... dunno. We don't have a tiered licensing structure here in the States, but we still have plenty of egomaniacal riders on "real bikes" that look down upon anything smaller or slower than whatever they're piloting. The truth about many of those "real bike" riders is that they don't REALLY ride that much. Those large machines are more expensive to operate and maintain than little bikes. I'll burn more miles on my small bikes and scoots in a month than most riders will cover in years on their bigger bikes. Oh, well... it's their loss... small bikes are more fun! Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

@QuasiMotard
@QuasiMotard 7 месяцев назад
That sounds unusual, and it definitely would NOT be a PCX150. All PCX's have a tall center tunnel without a central floorboard. Maybe that dealer is showing you a Honda Ruckus scooter? Those have open/flat floorboards like the Metropolitan, and both have a 50cc engine. If you are located somewhere outside of the USA, then the scooter you describe might be the Honda SH150i, which has a flat floorboard and larger 16" wheels: hondanews.eu/eu/fi/motorcycles/media/pressreleases/195829/2020-honda-sh150i-1 The MSRP for the 2023 PCX160 is $4649 after the freight and other fees, so $5065 OTD would be a reasonable price: powersports.honda.com/motorcycle/scooter/pcx However, the MSRP for the Ruckus is only $3199 after freight and transport fees: powersports.honda.com/motorcycle/scooter/pcx . If that dealer is quoting a Ruckus, then they are WAY OVERPRICED. Good luck shopping! 😉👍 --QM

I don't think I would carry a knobby just for particular sections. The SCBR routes usually have a lot of gravel and off-road sections mixed throughout the itinerary, so there aren't dedicated sections that are long enough to benefit from a dedicated tire choice. I have considered changing my PCX150's tires over to a 80/20 trail tire for the entire 2023 SCBR run, but I'm not sure what's availble in the proper sizes. The Michelin City Grip tires that we're running right now wear exceptionally well on the road (over 5K miles and still look new). Unfortunately, they really SUCK on gravel because they don't offer any grip at all over loose surfaces. You can watch some of that fun during my recent Texas Tiddlers Endurance run here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0AC_giCChTM.html . Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

@QuasiMotard
@QuasiMotard 8 месяцев назад
The PCX should fit you well,, but you might find the seat a bit cramped on the older PCX150's. There is a hump or step-up behind the rider's area that might push against your tailbone. Many taller riders will modify the seat foam to give a flatter surface like a bench seat so they can scoot back... more leg room. Otherwise, the ergonomics work very well for anyone between 5' 2" to around 6' 4". Larger riders would look like circus bears on tricycles. 😉👍 --QM

@@QuasiMotardhow about 4’11?
@QuasiMotard
@QuasiMotard 7 месяцев назад
@@liana8551 That might be a stretch for you... it really depends on your inseam length. I'm 5' 6" with a 29.5" inseam, and I can flat-foot one side while tip-toe on the other. Most riders only single-foot their bikes at a stop anyway, but it's comforting to be able to get either foot down (or both) at a stop for uneven pavement, crosswinds, etc. My best advice for you would be to find a motorcycle shop with a PCX on the showroom so you can sit on it and see how it feels. If your reach is just a little bit too short, then you could look at aftermarket seats to lower the height an inch or two. The PCX isn't a heavy scooter, so single-footing it and scooching sideways on the seat to get a foot down isn't hard to do with just a bit of practice. I've done that trick on taller motorcycles and ADV bikes for decades. Good luck shopping, and I hope you find a good fit! 😉👍 --QM

I currently have the Dr.Pulley performance variator with 14g Dr.Pulley sliders. My PCX150 settles in around 62-64 MPH and doesn't hit the rev-limiter at all with the upgraded variator components. It did reduce turbulence at my helmet, but the bracket was too intrusive so I removed it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ibgv-rGcmHY.html . Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

which variators did you put on your PCX? and does it effect the engine over time in a negative way?
@QuasiMotard
@QuasiMotard 2 года назад
This 2015 PCX150 has the Dr.Pulley performance variator with the stock rear pulley, spring, and clutch. Its top speed is 71-72 MPH (114-116 km/h). The OEM rear pulley spring maintains a near-stock RPM profile, so it doesn't take a hit on economy because the pulley and clutch allow lower RPM's most of the time. My 2016 PCX150 that I just sold to Adrian has the NCY Super Transmission Kit with a performance variator, rear pulley, stiffer rear spring, and a performance clutch. Its top speed is 73-74 MPH (117-119 km/h) on flat ground. However, the NCY kit holds the engine RPM's higher all the time, so the fuel economy dropped about 10-15% compared to stock. Otherwise, there are no negative impacts on engine performance or longevity. I've put a combined 8K miles on these variators without any problems. The Dr.Pulley variator has flipped its sliders a couple of times, but I think that's due to a weak rear pulley spring ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gz3CZIis54Y.html ). That 2015 PCX has always had a problem with low RPM belt shudder/slap, so I plan to swap the rear pulley assembly to see if it's just a fluke. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

How tall a ride fit the 150 PCX
@QuasiMotard
@QuasiMotard 5 месяцев назад
I think riders up to about 6'2" could fit on the PCX150 comfortably. The floorboards offer plenty of legroom to stretch out, but the passenger step-up in the seat can be a nuisance for taller riders. Aftermarket seats are available that are more flat without that step-up, so taller riders might find a more comfortable solution. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
