WE INSTALL THIS NEW SONY DOUBLE DIN INTO THIS HONDA PILOT USING METRA ELECTROINCS WIRING HARNESS AND DASH KIT. WE RECCOMEND USING THE METRA DASH KIT WHICH WE WILL ATTACH A LINK BELOW. Nice Video, looking to do this in my daughter's 2008 Pilot, unfortunately, ours has the DVD/video system so there is an extra multi-media plug on the back of our radio. I know the plug that plugs into the middle with the 2 wires is apparently the subwoofer, and without adding an amp, not sure there's a good way to integrate that. Looks like kicker makes an RCA to speaker wire converter, maybe that would work. We also have a single wire with plug that I am unsure what it's for.

Hi, the honda pilot has a 2-amp subwoofer. When you remove the stock head unit, the 2-amplifier will notbe there to support the 2-amp subwoofr. Did you use an external 2-amp subwoofer when installed the double din? Thanks

Great Video. Quick Question. Is anything extra needed in order to make the Satellite Radio work? I know some of the harnesses don't have a connection for it. I have a '07 Pilot EX-L with an Entertainment system. If you know anythign about this that would be great. Thank you.

Great video. Not sure where to connect the blue wire of the Antenna adaptor? Should that go to the blue wire on the Harness? The reason I am asking is because my radio reception is not that good, and I think the Antena might have an amp in it, but I am not sure if it should be connected to the red +12V wire, or to the blue wire? (or not connected at all) thanks

Some vehicles you do not have to connect it. If you want to try to connect it to the red wire of the harness or the blue wire of the harness that will tell you if you have a powered antenna or not

Thanks for your response, but I am realizing the following: 1: The Blue cable on the Harness is really not connected on the other end, meaning that pin going inside the car is not connected. Even though the blue cable is in the harness, it does not seem to go anywhere. 2: There is a white and blue cable out of the plug into the AX-1000. Based on the manual it's called REM-OUT, and apparently its to power power-antennas or amp-antennas (Page 28 on Sony AV receiver manual). (0.4 Amps) 3: So if I am understanding correctly, the white-blue cable IS OUT of the AX-1000 and should provide power to the antenna connecting to the blue cable of the antenna. The blue cable on the harness will remain unconnected. 4: I think (assuming the power antenna is 12Volts, I should also be able to leave the REM-OUT cable disconnected and indeed, power it with the RED Wire. Please let me know if this makes sense to you, and thank you very much for help.

Ok, it worked as I expected. Now what is not working is the Steering control. Followed the instructions, but the controller does not seem to operate. Green-White cable to the Pin-3 (red-green) with a c-tap. Then the GND Black cable connected to the back brown cable, red to red. Finally the 3.9mm Jack to the Blue Jack Remote in the AX-1000, but it does not work, not sure if I have to do something else, your advice will be welcome? (My car has a a hitch installed previous of my buying the car. Not sure if that would interefe or have anything to do). Thanks

FWIW - good recommendation on the 8mm hex rather than using a screwdriver. Those aren't Phillips screws. They are (like many Japanese screws) JIS, which look like Phillips but will easily strip if one uses a Phillips (instead of JIS) screwdriver. You can tell by the dot next to the cross slot ("X" on the screw head).

Pilot has such good visibility in the back really would not use a backup camera. The only useful for hitching up a trailer I have one on my Ram pickup really helps there backing up into spaces can't really see below the tailgate. What I hate about the pilot at least the year 2006 which is mine the factory radio has security code when you unplug the battery have to drive it to the dealer have them generate some codes. One reason I'm planning on swapping it CD player is broken so when start it makes lot of clicking noises. I don't think ill go with a lower cost JVC single din type has Bluetooth, digital radio, and SiriusXM radio.

In your glove box there should be a 5 digit code that is the numbers you press to get your radio working when the battery gets unplugged or dies had to do this a few times no problem if you know where the code is on the car

@@GetShoopedOn There was no code in the glove box. I had the dealer print the code out. Ill label it myself in the glove box.

What did you connect the solid Orange ilumination wire to?

Vehicles have certain different illumination wires most of them are orange with white stripe. It just depends on how the illumination setup is in the vehicle and on the radio? Newer radios like Sony and pioneer have their own built-in illumination you don't even have to hook it up because it has Auto dimming

My sony xav-ax3000 has an orange w white stripe illumination wire that i connected to the same colored orange w white stripe from the metra 70-1721 connector. But there is the orange wire on the metra 70-1721 as well. Not sure which is the correct one to connect to?

@@johnpierce9447 I would try each wire and see when you adjust the dimmer or turn off the lights if it turns off the brightness on the radio. All vehicles are different when it comes to the orange wire, orange with white stripe and some even have orange with black stripe

When it came time to the wiring you made it really confusing by saying “here” “here” “here” and wasn’t clear when actually pointing out to what is “here”

These are basic wiring colors and if you don't know how to wire up a basic harness I would advise taking it to a professional. These are basic things that anyone that installs radio should obviously know. I want to make sure that everybody that installs this knows what they're doing but at the same time you have to have the basic fundamentals of electronics to be able to install a radio. If not you're going to have a tremendous amount of problems so I would recommend taking it to a professional if you cannot wire up these basic color codes

@@octanetvchannel lol nah I was able to figure it out by looking up diagrams, it’s more of the fact you weren’t clear about it. Video was definitely useful info but there were parts that could have been explained/shown better. Yes it’s basic matching colors, but there were some colors that didn’t match that I had to attach when it came time to the steering wheel interface and backup cam. Say/think what you want but all I was saying was could have been more clear with direction instead of just “here”. Little bit of constructive criticism wasn’t trying to dog on you lil bro

@@ethankann no I definitely understand we just get a lot of people that get upset when we don't put different parts of the installation process in the video. We are trying to make videos more detailed as much as possible and we do forget some things. It's so time-consuming to make these videos so any constructive criticism we greatly appreciate because we want to make these videos as thorough and easy to follow as possible. Thank you for the feedback and we're always going to strive to get better and more detailed

Too much padding, fluff and crap music in this video. Irrating and skips the actual install. I could make a 2 minute video that shows whole install that would skip all the blab and logo screens
