I have a 2002 cmx. 250. Came with 1400 miles. Put about another 2000 on it and always took care of it and change oil more often than need to. Well I wound up having to ride about an hour each way to work and let a few days go by that I didn't check it was 3/4 low. After a month or so I noticed it was burning oil quicker than usual. After compression test I know I have to replace rings I've only worked on a few gas scooters putting on big bore kits. Is this a similar process and should I use only oem rings? Can you recommend a rebuild kit? Thanks for the great video as well!
You can use china clone parts. I have but you just have to check the specs very closely. In my case the China Clone head the exhaust ports where slightly different in such a way for mounting the exhaust was different and required slight modification.
@@kd5bwp I appreciate you. I won't know till I crack her open but that's good to know. I have some Chinese parts from ebay in a cart.. it's literally all the rings gaskets and 2 cylinders. I'd think for what it is it will work. Crazy the video is old but your still helping fellow riders man.. that's really awesome of u! I'm going to more than likely make a bobber out of her. Maybe down and dirty loud exhaust and raw looking..thanks again. Helps alot to get a boost of confidence. I have feeler gauges and all the other fine tuning stuff from when I messed with scooters. This will be my first bike rebuild.
@@nicholascorbett4622 Tho the rings only really matter on thinness they can be too big in diameter and then cut to fit. The engine is the same pretty much from 1986 to current with the carb versions. Tho in 1985 and 1986 they had a 450 version and I had that one too.
@@kd5bwp I just lost a 450 in a bidding war through Facebook. It was an 87. 6000 miles. Only needed a back tire. I'm on the rebel forum and some of those people make it seem like if it's not oem and rebuilt to factory specs I'm wasting my time..I had no issues taking a 50cc scooter up to a 100 and rejetting with pod filters and upgrade cdi ,plugs, throttle adjustments and making them pretty fun with eBay Chinese parts. Again thanks for the vote of confidence
Had to pull the motor from the frame once I did that it came off when I pulled the cam and disconnected the cam from the gear. I left the chain in the block and only did a top end rebuild with a new head.
brother how much you have to measure the coils, I just realized that my bike has Chinese and that is a big problem because here in Venezuela you can not get the originals, yours are very different from my motorcycle
Juan Lopez Gil I don't think so since it was last produced in like the early 90's for my model... What did you need and I could just post a picture of the pages for you to my drive account.
hello brother greetings from Venezuela, I have a honda nighthawk 250 year 1992 I mention one of the problems I have is that there are no good mechanics for this type of motorcycle, I have two years with a fault that when I put down the spark plug on the left side turns off only when I go in speed, in neutral does not , well the fault is more constant on the left side, and the right side is very little, to get it to start working the spark plug the disconnected and put the spark away and returns to match the spark plug, I hope you help me thanks .. .........
alex quintero if you can show a video that might help. But from the sounds like your cid box is having issues or you have a short from your neutral switch that controls your light on the dash.
alex quintero also check to make sure that the spark plugs do not have cracks in the boots causing you to lose spark. But your problem sounds electrical try with simple unplug the neutral switch and by pass that clutch switch.
if brother here is hard to find but which you recommend me the other thing is that he told me that the car can also serve me, now I do not know if it is recommended
I have the same bike, and it would be really helpfull if you can upload the pages you show in the video about replacing the cam chain and pistons. If it says something about replacing the clutch it would be awesome. Thank you very much. Greetings from argentina.
I wasn't really have a ton of experiences working on cars and engines. The one in the video I used for the tourqe amounts and pattern. www.amazon.com/dp/1620923386/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_5nEVFbCZDXZTM
