This post is not for Tony but for all others. The Kmod did not work for me on my Reflex. The rpm was way too high on the highway and my fuel mileage was very poor. What did work very well was installing the face "B" of the variator from a 2005-6 250cc Big Ruckus that has equal length runners. At first I also, with the variator change, I installed the 26 gram rollers that are stock in the Big Ruckus which did give me great fuel mileage and great top speed but the acceleration was poor below 45 mph. Went to 24 gram Dr Pulley sliders and WALLA, that woke up the get up and go on this scooter and that was 4 years ago and I have never looked back. Because of the amount of miles I put on every year(roughly 10000 miles a year) I change the drive belt every spring and inspect the sliders for wear. There is a little over 30000 miles on those sliders and they still show NO wear or flat spots on the back sides and it still shifts perfectly through all the ratios. Later folks, gotta go for a scooter ride!!😁
@Shagnasty-bo5bj yeah I read on forums a guy said he used 21 gs and it runs really good... so your acceleration from 0-40 is alot better without lag? And did you just use the same belt or the Kevlar one?
@@dromin.official2558 I Used the Honda Bando belt that came on the Reflex from factory. With the 26gr rollers I only had decent acceleration to 20 mph but the 24gr sliders gave me great acceleration to 45 mph and retain great fuel mileage on the open road, for me it was the best of both worlds and as of yet I have no reason to change it. I have also about 3 years ago changed my contra spring to the "yellow one" along with a racing clutch with matching clutch bell (Malossii) with the 1500 rpm clutch springs for street use. There is more that I have done to the bike but it is just more than I want to type!! Later man, gotta go for a scooter ride😁!!
Your reaction to the first take off was too funny man. I just got a Reflex about a month ago and I'm slowly bringing her back up to speed, she's running good now! but it does exactly what you describe, I got in to the variator and mine do not look like yours, all 6 of them are black. I'm going to have to find myself a scale and figure out what I'm working with, clearly someone has been in there and changed around the weights in mine. I'm glad to see there is hope!
Order a drive face from a 250cc Big Ruckus and put that in with some Dr. pulley sliders. All the ramps are the same length, which adds something to both the top end speed and low end torque. I weigh 255lbs and my Reflex will do 70mph uphill with saddle bags and top case. Top speed on the flats is 80+ mph
In your opinion Tony, if you could have only one, would you go with a Helix or a Reflex, and why? I've been looking at both for years, and prices have come back down into the reasonable range, so I am thinking now is the time. Thanks in advance, and keep up the great content. - Nick in Montreal
There's a better fix that won't wear the clutch faster.
