ok so I took mine up to 103 mph (in Mexico of course) I took a two hour and a half hour trip to Florida in the pouring rain averaging mid 70s just fine but did bring it up a little at one point. she'll get up there in speed.
I just bought the green one two days ago. I already owned a CB500F and knew the engine/transmission was great. This bike is a LOT of fun to just cruise around on. Plus it looks cool, so there's that. It sounded a struggle to maintain 70mph, but I weigh 250 pounds. I didn't buy it do go super fast or very long distances--just my daily rider and plus, my son loves it and he'll take the rider course in September. Win, win.
Heck yea it's a blast to ride for sure. I've caught a lot of flack for saying that it doesn't like to go over 75 but it goods to hear someone else saying this as well lol. I'm sure your son is going to crush the course and you'll have yourself a riding buddy very soon lol.
I moved to Riverside CA about a year and a half ago... I kept my car running with AZ license plates until they expired..Long story short, I had tons of drama trying to pass the California Smog test on a 2017 NIssan!!! , No check engine light , car is as smooth as new, it simply says O2 sensor is not ready. I took it to 3 different places and everyone kept telling me that nothing is wrong with it, it simply needs more driving. I tried driving it , even to AZ and back, and nope! Same issue, I know in AZ i wouldn't have any issues.. Soo I finally gave up, and got this same SCL500 color from the dealer, after graduating from Harley Davidson's School, and just got my endorsement 2 days ago. And yea! I'm selling my efing car!! No smog tests required for motorcycles EVER! I'm so excited about my new chapter in life with this wonderful new motorcycle!! I still ride like. a rookie and need to learn to let go all my fear, but i'm confident that sooner or later i'll get there.. Awesome video!!
Yes, I like the flat seat too. I have a 1997 Honda CB750 Nighthawk that has the same type of seat. It gives the rider some extra room to make seating adjustments while riding. A Great looking bike. I am thinking about getting one. Great informative video!
Just got one of these, same color, a couple of days ago. Love it! I've also got a Rebel. This rides a lot like the Rebel, but is better in the corners and I like the higher seating. I agree that Honda did a great job on this bike. It has plenty of power, but is not at all intimidating. Wish it had a tach, and not crazy about the exhaust, but honestly, those are the only negatives I have and I can live with both of those. Great job on the review. Can't wait to see your next one.
@@paulstanley3265 I think so since you are sitting more upright than the rebel It offers a bit more room. I'm around 6' 1" and with riding shoes on maybe 6' 2" and I'm very comfy and don't feel squished at all.
@@paulstanley3265 Yes, it has a lot more leg room than the Rebel. And the way your legs are set, you don't have to deal with that annoying engine guard sticking out on the right side. Love this bike!
That's awesome to hear! It was one of the first things I felt as a taller person was my knees weren't hitting things lol. The MT series is the worst about that.
The Clutch feeling might be because of the slipper clutch which should be equipped according to the spec sheet my dad looked at. We looked at one at our honda dealer today and are very interested in it as a bike for me.
Also just to note many bikes have a break In period and past that after the first oil oil change many people say the parallel twins Honda makes gets a little better
Yea I know even my Grom and my Kawasaki felt entirely different after the first break in. I know some will claim it doesn't change anything but me personally I felt a big difference.
I’ve got a klx300 thinking of getting this as a second bike. Really want something with a bit more get up and go. Not trying to break any track records.
Then this is the perfect bike bro. I love to goof around on the KLX and I've done a 450+ mile day on the KLX and it wasn't the most pleasant time. However doing 100 miles on this feels like nothing. It's very comfy. Keep me posted if you do buy one.
Yeah as other commenters said i own one and it is listed as being able to go over 100mph. I haven't tried, but i know it can hit 80 and still has plenty of juice. Awesome bike i got over 300 miles on mine!
@Corey_Vlogs yeah its all good. Without an rpm guage, it's about feeling it and kinda guessing the power. You could post a comment and pin it or put the update in the description.
I have almost 8k miles on mine got it at the start of the riding season just to play around on and it will easily do high way speeds I run mine around 75mph on average and it’s no big issue, however you can get it to 115 just needs to be a long (very long) straight, it takes the time to build up any speed past 80mph from my experience but it’s a great bike so far very fun and comfortable, would totally recommend to a beginner as well
I bought my SCL500(actually it's called the CL500 here in Thailand) for $6,200 so it's a little over $1,000 savings compared to the U.S. I got it in Gunpowder Black Metallic but it's also available here in Candy Energy Orange & Green Metallic. It's definitely a fun ride, esp. since I can ride it almost year round, compared to only 3 or 4 months in my home state of Mo. I've gone over 150km/h so it's definitely way fast enough for my 185lbs weight. I just wish I could get that cool brown leather seat you can buy in the states. Other than that it's a pretty sweet ride over heah!
Dude!! That's sick!! I lived in Mo for 15 years of my life lol so I completely understand not being able to ride for 8 months haha. But yea it's a great bike man the 500 has plenty of getup and it's the perfect reliable daily rider for sure.
@@Corey_Vlogs Yes, it's a small world I was born in Springfield, grew up in Moberly then Independence, and then Blue Springs. I do miss canoeing on the current river every June, might do it one more for old times sake you never know. Next year I might ride my CL to Nepal and back not sure yet. I'm also looking to buy a RE 450 when it comes out next year. If you ever get a month or two you should come ride in Thailand, it's an experience you'll never forget.
Dude no way!! I grew up in Waynesville about an hour from springfield haha and really want to ride somewhere like Thailand in the future but getting a bike there would be a task. We'll have to link up and I'll find a bike to rent while I'm out there lol. @@SladeBling
@@Corey_Vlogs You can rent almost any bike over here, and it's way cheaper than U.S. prices. All you need is an International Drivers Permit, which is easy to get from AAA..but needs to have Motorcycle qualified stated on it. It's extremely dangerous to ride over here though, if you decide to do it just let me know I can make your odds of survival skyrocket. There's no reason to come over here and get hurt/killed.
Man...three years after the pandemic and Honda is still having issues getting bikes into dealers...what is going on with them? I like the green one. Definitely would take the Honda sticker off the tank, being a sticker and not painted in, looks so cheap. I dont think id change the exhaust, ive heard a couple with exhausts and to be honest, they dont sound all that good.
Oh wow! Yea I took it on a backroad and really got after it full tuck and hit 83 with it screaming. I'm guessing something with emissions or something is really holding this thing back.
I should have gotten a clear shot of it. So I can see it with sunglasses on pretty clear with a lot of sun and at night I can see it super clear. Apologies about that
@Corey_Vlogs Actually, this is one of the better reviews I've seen as of yet. It's just that the camera is not really catching the display too well, and it looks very dark and hard to see. Thanks for the review. It was helpful.
Great 🎉 Review !!! Luv the Orange 🍊 !!!!! 🤩☀️😎 Where is the “ Sweet - Spot “ on this Honda for power deliver ???? Low - End , Mid - Range, Up - Top ???? Does it PULL ?? from the Bottom ??? Is it a Boring ride that would make You wish that You bought a Bigger BIKE ??? Does it sport a “ UJM “ seating position ??? I am 6’2” and 230 …… Would I fit with my long legs? Would my weight overwhelm the HONDA , and make it feel anemic ??? Thanks for Your insight !!!! Brian 😎
Sweet Spot: Low end all the way to top middle is perfection 1-4 gear is a good time Pull: It will pull hard in almost every gear except for 6th Boring Ride: I don't think it's boring for someone that wants to hit some back roads or city roads and cruise around it's the perfect bike. For someone like me that has to be a menace and pop wheelies and go off road and hit jumps it would be a perfect second bike for me. UJM Seating: It is a VERY comfortable ride for me I'm about 6 1 62 and 190lbs I have pretty long legs and I don't feel squished at all. Weight: I don't think 220lbs is even close to slowing this thing down. I have had myself and my wife on it and it will cruise with joy no problem. Hope this helps!
Fantastic !!!!!!!! Your Remarks are BEYOND Helpful !!!!!!! No One else has ever answered My query …….. YOU are WONDERFUL and Many Miles of Safe and Enjoyable Riding ahead for You Corey 👍🏻🤩💫
Haha I think any supermoto is the perfect hooligan bike. I don't enjoy going fast so anything from a 125cc Grom to a KLX 300 is just a blast. However I will say when I throw my leg over the SCL I feel like a grown man that means business lol. @@brianfeeney9493
i don't like the exhaust on the rebel 500 but i kind of like the look of the one on the scrambler, its still a giant turd, but its kind of a cool looking giant turd. also i like the bright orange because it really give it that vintage look.
Great review but if you felt uncomfortable going 80 plus mph you shining haves said so … you misrepresented the bike by emphasizing 70mph and claiming 85mph was tweaking the engine 😢😢
At 70 the bike doesn't vibrate at all at 85 it's shaking like a thumper. Idk how else to put it. I have had plenty of people bust my balls about this lol. I have done 12 o clock wheelies at 40mph and have rode fully built dynas, sportsters, and even an R7. I just base what I felt off of vibrations. If you plan to take this scrambler on the highway at 85 your hands will be numb fast it truly starts to feel like a thumper. I might have to really ride it again and just see if it was the road cause I know for a fact that the 500 is built much better than what I portrayed.
The new Hondas look so generic to me. So much black like why? No character at all to them compared to the their old CB’s. I’m sure they run great like most Hondas but the looks are so plain.
I'm a little surprised by that. My harley xg500 can do 110 in a full tuck and 95 with me sitting straight up. Yeah I have a tiny useless windscreen but it does nothing. I was interested in this till that highway run you did. I mean I get 55mpg at 80-90mph and I ride highway everyday to work. 55 mile round trip and my bike might be making 36hp and 30tq at 508lbs wet. I honestly like the bike but doesn't seem it will be and do better than my harley.
Yea I wanted to give a fair shakedown so anyone watching could be the judge. I'm sure with a sprocket change the bike would do 75-80 but something about it just didnt feel right at those speeds. The XG's are great bikes and look awesome.
@@Corey_Vlogs…. Are you seriously this dishonest? Watch the other videos people doing 95-100mph on the scrambler. You were riding someone else’s brand new bike. Of course you didn’t give it a fair all out power test. It has 70 miles on it.
My brother calling me dishonest is wild lol. The bike was shaking like a leaf on a tree at 80... I said it would go faster but you definitely wouldn't want to cruise at those speeds. I've rode plenty of fast bikes and this is not one that you want at 100mph...@@WilliamWBG
@@Corey_Vlogs ….. what is the purpose of a 500cc scrambler? Stick to honest reviews vs biased opinions and your channel might have a chance. As other commenters have suggested…… maybe you should stick to reviewing track bikes.
Yes I have to agree about painting the other parts to match. And it's a great bike I think I'll have one in my lineup at some point in the future for sure. @@scrambler420
This is a more subdued version of the Ducati Scrambler. The main difference between the two is ease of maintenance and power of course. You pay to have a Ducati, but the power range is incredible. The 803 is not even a conversation in terms of power comparison. This bike is fine, BUT in terms of fun and long term ownership, this is more for subdued personalities who aren't concerned about too much fun.
Yea man my KLX will also hit 85 lol but when this thing hits 85 it starts vibrating a lot and just doesn't like it at all. I'm sure you can tuck in and really send it and get it up to 95 maybe 100 but it just doesn't feel right at all. It has plenty of power down low so I'm guessing the sprocket up front or in the back could be changed to get more top end.
@@Corey_Vlogs good idea on the sprocket, I’m more about acceleration that top speed personally but I would like to be able to keep up with traffic without being tapped out. But I only weigh 140lbs so maybe it’ll be a bit faster under me?
What’s funny my friend the one that bought this also bought an mt03 the same day and boy do those things rip!!!! Totally different power band than the 500 for sure! And hahahaha it’s wild out here in fl 😂
“Can this thing go on the highway idk if it can do 70”… get outta here with your goofy self. The rebel 300 does 80 so of course this thing can do 70. SMH
I said it has a top speed of 80+ but it starts vibrating at 70-75mph I’ll be sure to add subtitles on the next video with a clear understanding of what I’m saying for you next time 🙏🏼
