bent shaft trimmers the thread will be the other way. just an fyi to anyone that needs it. honda also make their own version of the speedfeed head that doesnt need the spacer, w4 for the small one(speedfeed 375) and w5 for the bigger one(speedfeed 450) both are great too.

Wow. This video saved my marriage. I've been struggling with the honda head it came with the last year and getting so angry when I struggle to refill it and my wife gets mad as I spent good money on it and want to replace it already. This video is a lifesaver, i'll try to get my hands on one of these replacement heads as this is the style i've always used. Thank you legend :)

I will have to agree with you 100% not about your marriage that’s your business but my wife and I are frustrated. We bought this Honda trimmer HHT 35 spent a lot of money on this trimmer because it’s Honda and I know it’s dependable and I know it’s worth the money, but it speed head and they sold me their brand and I don’t even know what it’s called but it’s dual feed but the feed doesn’t work. You have to manually pull the line out most times but what we’re frustrated with is when they upgraded to this Honda head they kept the speed feed head that went that was originally on it And two years ago, I didn’t know any different. I thought it was an upgrade, but it isn’t so mines coming off and likely going in the trash and as far as the marriage goes, I’ve been married for 42 years and my wife is frustrated about this head problem also😍

Thanks mate. I'm in the market for a new whipper-snipper, and the Honda is on top of my list. I've had it with Ryobi. They don't last long anymore, and it seems their tools are all built as disposable gear these days - ie. no parts. The last Ryobi whipper-snipper I had only lasted 6 years (the one previous to that lasted 16 years). The Honda came well recommended, apart for the critism of its bump head. But this aftermarket speed feed bump head looks to solve all that negative comments about the original Honda bump head. Thanks again. 👍

Just ran across your video, never knew this option was available. As it happened, after being frightened off by internet pricing on the head, I went to our local Honda dealer and picked up a Honda version for $AU50 Very easy fit and done in 5 minutes (after learning from your video). Thank you, this will save an old mans sanity.

Hoping this helps on your already easy starting but maybe not. That yellow square holds the throttle in for one pull starting on my Honda HMK431 so it starts first pull every time. 1. Pump squeeze bulb till full (not sure you have one on your carb). 2. Depress throttle and the yellow square at the same time till it locks the throttle slight depressed. 3. Choke the carb. 4. Pull to start on first pull. 5. Turn choke off. 6. Depress throttle to release yellow square (throttle lock).

Hi Vic I still do yes :) I occasionally lose the line inside the head and have to pop it apart to get the old line out, but it’s easy and well worth the effort as it works perfectly the rest of the time. When it does that it is my fault anyway, it’s because I went/pushed to hard into something rather than letting the tool do the job. Hope that helps! Dan

You could have bought a Genuine Honda Speed Feed (W4 or W5) for $50 which is the same price as the "Rotary" brand you used . The Honda Speed Feed head is better quality because as it has steel reinforcement on the bump skid face to prevent premature wearing out on the bottom face when you bump it on the ground to feed more line. The Honda speed feed fits pefect with no need for adaptors etc and it also comes in 2 different sizes meduim size = W4 and large size = W5

Thanks for the heads up on the genuine Honda product. I bought the W4 yesterday and was having buyers remorse this morning as the salesman was leaning towards the brand in this video for the sole reason that the replacement face was $4 less… he sensed my confusion and offered the old technology of the bump style head; however I told him I’ll give the new style a go as long it’s genuine Honda that’s made in Japan. Thus the W4 purchase, great video, have the confidence to tackle the coming summer (Gold Coast)

The feed module that comes with the Honda trimmers has issues. For one the bump isn't reliable, bump, bump, bump and 2" of line comes out or usually none at all. Then trying to load the feed module with weed whacker line is a "go to the instruction manual" and spend 15 minutes reading. When I tried the Shindawa speed feed head the line feed was fantastic and the line that came with my speed feed lasted a long time. I kept stopping to see if I needed to feed any more line it just kept cutting. Highly recommend the Shindawa speed feed to replace the original feed module from Honda.

😮 ? I thought the difference between a snipper and brushcutter was the snipper uses a nylon line while the brush can use both the line and a blade to cut through vegetation. Brushes are standard with the straight shaft that can support a blade while snippers have a bent shaft suitable only for line heads ....that what me old man used tell me anyway LOL!

Hi Mick. Thanks! There should be two little tabs on the head that you can depress and pull the head apart. Once apart remove the line, put it back together and then reload. You will see what I mean when you pop it apart (if it’s the same as the ones I use). The tabs can be tough to depress the first time, you might need to use a screwdriver to force them down. Hi Lachlan. It’s still a bump feed so just bump it on the ground. Hope that helps!

Thanks much for your video. How does the new head feed the string? It doesn’t look like a “bumper” head??? Thanks again.

Hi Rob They are still bump feed, the entire bottom is the button, hope that makes sense. They feed fine, it is the loading that makes the difference though.

Where did you get the spacer from?? I had the same issue that the adaptors supplied didn't work but when I used an oil seal as a spacer everything worked good.I need to get the correct spacer tho...any clues? thanks

@PracticalPrimate 4 года назад
Hi Wayne, sorry missed your comment! Mine came with the spacers though your solution sounds usable. You can get a lot of these things from your local mower/small engine dealer so that would be my next step if I were you. Hope that helps :)

Best speed feed is ryobis and oregon gator

Are the Ryobi good are they? I generally stay away from anything made by Ryobi. Hadn’t heard of the Oregon product be they look great. The only problem might be it looks like you buy pre-loaded cartridges? That must get pretty expensive! Will have a proper look at them.

Don't use the chinease copy spring.. they are mild steel not spring steel and let the line fly out every 2 seconds...

Flies are annoying. I can smell dog poop all over the place because of the amount of flies ? Thats why I dont like dogs. I prefer Trimmers 😂

For the last 18 months I've not let the lawn crew edge or use a weed eater in my back yard. ru-vid.comUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG I didn't like the fact that they just kept cutting the edge of the lawn further and further from the rock lining the flower beds and leaving bare ground. And the grass was trimmed or scalped several feet around trees, etc. It was a constant battle with them so I told them to just mow and no trimming. I have Zoysia grass so it grows pretty slow. Obviously after a while it could use some trimming. I'm in my 80's so I can't do much of it myself. Finally I decided that if I could find a lightweight battery powered trimmer I might be able to do some light trimming. I decided to buy the LST201 20V trimmer. And it works great for my needs. I have back yard with about 150' of flower beds and several trees to be trimmed. I can lightly trim the whole yard with a single charge! The grass I trimmed was only a few inches high but the trimmer was more powerful than I expected.
