Honda Talon Accessories - Bed Extender from Dirt Road Fabrications w/ Spare Tire Mount and Fuel Tank

Usually I post about real estate in Las Vegas but today it's about the Honda SXS parts I just got!
Follow along as I install this bed extender from Dirt Road Fabrications out of UT. I purchased it online from their website as it looked like the best bed extender on the market! When I got it in the mail I realized I 100% made the right call in getting this! This is one of the best options i have installed on my sxs Honda Talon.
This Honda Talon bed extender also has a spare tire mount and a mount for a spare gas tank.
I am not affiliated with dirt road fabrications and get not perks for posting this. I just like the quality.

If it wasn't for your video I would've never known about this set up. So thank you for posting it. I ordered mine on 3-12-21. Got the 2g gas tank, the mesh floor over the back bars. Even spoke to the owner. Told him I found it because of your video. Also he spoke kinda of you..Sad part is he informed me it 10 weeks out b4 I will receive it. Cannot wait to get it and install it. Told him i would also do a video and post it as well when I receive and install it.

🤘🏾 I need this for my Talon, I’ll be reaching out to this company this week, so glad I held off on ordering the one that puts your spare up top. I’ve got the basic bed extension on now, but this ones really nice I love how it opens and gives you easy access and the spare will definitely be nice riding in the back !

Does it make it habdle better? Did you get low or high mount?

@@TheExtremeRace Yes. Puts more weight in the back. I also have the Honda storage and that helps with weight as well. I have the high mount on both of my Talons. My 4 seater has a back up camera. The main reason for the high mount was my concern about maybe getting the tire caught on something (ledge?) when riding, or going up a steep hill. Although I haven't heard of anyone having any issues with the lower mounted tire. I also have the rotopax 2 gallon mount on both.

$700+ for this set-up. Looking forward to some completion in manufacturing. Nice set up, but wow. Pricey. I'm sure it helped with the bucking though.

Actually after jumping a lot with it now installed it did not help. It actually makes the ass end swing to the side for some reason and jumping is sketch now. But if you don’t plan to jump it’s very useful. I think I may try and switch to a tire rack directly over the cargo area I stead of off the back like this.

I don’t know I did it just to make sure I had clearance but probably wouldn’t matter either way.

@TheBrokerLife I ordered it , waiting on it to arrive, I got the mesh bottom , problem now is I can't find a darn spare tire that doesn't cost $400 😅 Crawl before u walk I guess , u still like it

@@davidsawmandave8731 haha 😂 I liked mine (my wife totaled our rig a month or two ago 😂) but I noticed two things when I installed it. First when I jumped the rig after installing it, the rear end wanted to swing off to the side when it would normally stay straight. The second is I opted for the gas can option. However over time the can rubbed on the metal so much it wore a hole into it. I can’t say this is due to the design of the rack it was mostly due to the gas can bracket they provided. All in all it’s the best you can buy in my opinion. Also looks really cool!

It would be nice to get an update on how it is holding up. I was thinking that the spare mount...is weight out back that far have any negative effects.

The manufacturing is so far great and holding up just fine however I have noticed when I jump my rig the backend wants to swing around which was not the case when I didn’t have it installed. So going in the air is scary now but if you stay on the ground it’s great.

I've had my eye on these for a while! If you find a spare moment, would you please take an overall measurement from the front bumper to the back of the mounted tire? I Have a fear that it added too much length to fit on my trailer when installed. Thank you for the video!

The best I can tell the rig is at 14’4” long from the front bumper to the back spare tire. The tire I have on is 10” wide so if you have a different width that change this maybe. Hope this helps 👍

@@TheBrokerLife Thank you! My trailer is 14' and has a gate on the back that lowers. I suppose if I backed the Talon on with the spare tire over the tongue it would fit. I appreciate the effort!

Can you tell me what the length is with your tire mounted from the back of the factory plastic bed part above the Honda logo to the tip of your outside tire on the rear? Thank you for your review

How is the riding does it feel better on the whoops, also how big are your tires whats te measuremenr from inside te bed to the top of the tire.I like th look of the top mount but I think low mount might be betterjust trying to figure it how it looks.

I would have to take the measurements when I get time. But as for the balance I think it actually has negatively impacted my balance on jumps. Before I could get relatively normal straight launches and landings with a bit of a nose dive but now my back end wants to swing around each time. Maybe the lower mount would have been better but IDK. I am not big into jumping all the time so I am fine with it but the first two times caught me way off guard.

What were the addons you did to the bed extender? I noticed on their website they have different things. I know you got the 3 gl fuel and mount plate. Whats the expanded metal bottom? And fuel mount? Isn't the fuel mount the plate?

Those bars are standard on the bottom. I did the upper tire mount and fuel tank everything else is standard 👍😃👍 well of course the color as well. Lol
