Update:
I have now done this procedure three times, and I've learned a trick that isn't in the video. First, I must apologize for claiming that the air box to carb boot clamp has to be flipped around the opposite way that Honda intended.
I was incorrect, however you can do it the way that I suggest in the video. Either way works, but Honda did not make a design mistake. The way they have it designed works. The design and engineering on the air box assembly is very high end. Everything fits perfect and there is no room for error(a slight misalignment of the air box will create the appearance of a bad fit).
The trick to getting it into place and connecting the top of the carbs to the air box is screwing the air box down into place. This gives you just enough downward pressure to get a lever in, just below the frame, and pry the boot down over the top of the carb. Lots of lubricant and silicone spray really help. Also remove the airbox cover so you can press down from inside the airbox. Then you can tighten the clamps by inserting the screw driver just below the frame and angled up.

How I cleaned out the carburetors on my 1986 Honda VT1100C Shadow 1100cc motorcycle. The procedure would also be the same for the 1985 model. My bike ran great after this.
